Former Ekiti State Deputy Governor and a leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant in the 2021 governorship election, Dr Sikiru Tae Lawal, has congratulated workers in Ekiti State and Nigeria for celebrating another Workers Day.
In a press statement made available to the press in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Dr Lawal, who is also  the Baba Adinni of Ekitiland, said the workers should be thankful to God for seeing another Workers' Day and protecting them and their families despite the high level of insecurity prevalent in the country.

Ekiti State PDP felicitates with the South West Exco on their inauguration, urges Them...
... Charges them to work hard to install PDP government completely in the zone

Ekiti State PDP under the leadership of Hon Kehinde Odebunmi, FCA and Members of the State Working Committee felicitates with the  South West (Zonal) Executives led by Ambassador Taofik  Arapaja

The successful inauguration of the Zonal Executives has brought to a new beginning a non controversial management team to steer the  PDP in the zone in the next four years.

Speaking after the swearing-in of the Executives in Ibadan, Oyo State, the Chairman of the Party, Hon Kehinde Odebunmi congratulated the Chairman of the Zonal Executives, Ambassador Taofik Arapaja and the Exco pointing out that the hand of God was manifest on the team from the success of the Congress to the inauguration.

Odebunmi charged the team to manage the zone with the fear of God and be sensitive to the yearnings of PDP in the zone by ensuring that peace triumphs over bickerings and unnecessary crisis.

He reminded them to know that this is the most challenging times for Nigeria and particularly the South West which stands as beacon of politics in Nigeria. We are now handicapped with massive Insecurity, kidnapping, rape and all manners of criminal acts for which the Buhari government seems not to have solution.

He therefore admonished the PDP in the zone to work very hard with the people to vote out the rudderless APC. We did it in Oyo State and other States of the Federation and we can do it again. The journey for the victory in all states of the zone and particularly at the Presidential & National Assembly elections in 2023 has started with the inauguration, Odebunmi said.

The Ekiti PDP Chairman expressed profound appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for displaying maturity, selflessness and candour in leadership, in his style of managing the Zone.

Ekiti State PDP also congratulated all our Colleagiate Leaders in Ekiti State for the Success of the Congress which has now culminated in the inauguration of the Zonal Executives.

Importantly, we felicitate with our Ekiti Representatives in the Zone, i.e Hon Adeola Ogunrinde, National Ex-officio, Chief Sanya Atofarati, the Zonal PRO and Mrs Lanre Fajuyi, Zonal Ex-officio.

For Ekiti State PDP, though it is not yet over, but the hands are still on the plough.

Congratulations PDP Zonal Executives and the entire PDP family.

EKITI2022: PDP Leaders In Ekiti South Formed Alliance, Called On Other Districts to Reciprocate.
COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF THE FORUM HELD ON 27th APRIL, 2021

The Leaders and Members of the Forum, Our Governorship Aspirants, including His Excellency, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, Her Excellency, Senator Biodun Olujimi and Mr Kayode Adaramodu. And others who took permission to be absent from the meeting but agreed to abide by every letter of this Communique,  resolved as follows:

1. It is noted with regret that whatever circumstances must have been responsible, the citizens of Ekiti South Senatorial District had not benefitted from the privilege of being elected the State Governor, whereas each of the other two Districts of the State have enjoyed the privilege for 12 years respectively.

We wish and request that this should be redressed in the next Ekiti Governorship Election in 2022.
To this end and for the sake of equity, natural justice and sensibility, all Ekiti South Senatorial District stakeholders and politicians appeal to the sense of good judgment, equity, fairness and patriotism to cooperate with the Ekiti South Senatorial District to produce the PDP candidate for the 2022 Governorship Election.

2.That Ekiti South Agenda Leadership and people humbly appeal to individuals and/or groups so far misinformed about imagined inadequacies of our District to present winning candidate to discard such unfounded impression, but embrace aspirants from our District as good, reliable,  dependable and indeed presentable, anywhere in the world.

3.That for 24 years, the Leaders, Stakeholders and Members of our great Party in the Ekiti South Senatorial District have willingly and faithfully cooperated with our compatriots from Ekiti North and Central Senatorial Districts, not only to produce Party Candidates but stake all resources to ensure the victory of the candidates at the previous governorship elections.

4.That with the cooperation of critical, astitute and powerful stakeholders and patriotic counterparts from the other two Districts with similar personalities in our District, our great Party will surely under the unassailable Umbrella of the Party put our heads together to choose a credible, sellable and electable candidate from amongst the Aspirants from the Ekiti South Senatorial District, that would not only win the 2022 governorship elections but would impressively run Ekiti Government of the people's dream.

Don’t give up. Nigeria will fly again — Pastor Kumuyi urges Nigerians
The founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has urged Nigerians not to give up on the country, saying Nigeria would fly again.

Speaking with journalists at his church on Sunday April 25, the clergyman said, “What God does for an individual He does it for the family, and what He does for the community, He can do for the country. The point is these people that received this divine touch they did not give up, did not think is all over, they knew that God can still do something, the country would have to adopt that same mindset, and know that whatever we are going through stop accusing this and accusing that while we are pointing accusing fingers we are trying to say let you be on you own and let me be on my own; let the East go and let the West go, and this one go.

If we are thinking like that we will not expect the solution God wants to give us but when we have hope and we know yet we have gone through some deep waters things are going to change, our God has the possibility to make things change. I believe that we will fly again.

And I believe and declare things will become better for our country, things are going to turnaround and we will still remain in life to enjoy the goodness of the Lord for our families and ourselves in the same country, and we are going to raise our heads and say this is my country, and God will do it and we will live to see the fulfillment.”

PDP S'WEST: Atofarati Takes Oath of Office, Sworn In As Spokesperson.
The Ilawe-Born writer and political juggernaut, Chief Sanya Atofarati today Wednesday, April 28th, 2021. Takes Oath of Office at Agodi Ibadan, government office in Oyo State.
Sequel to the Peoples' Democratic Party's congress held in Osogbo Osun State on April 12th, 2021. Chief Sanya Atofarati from Ekiti state emerged victoriously, in a keenly contested congress.

It was a congress predicted to tear the main opposition party, PDP, apart in the zone as tensions were rises before the election, but fortunately for the party in the zone, it could be recorded as the fairest congress so far. Where the two factions agreed with the outcome of the congress.

Chief Sanya Atofarati and other southwest elected officers under the Chairmanship of Amb. Taofeek Arapaja a fmr deputy Governor of Oyo state took Oath of Office and were sworn in.

The only PDP governor in the southwest zone of Nigeria, Engr Seyi Makinde, the wife of Fmr governor of Oyo state, Mrs Ladoja and many dignitaries across the graced the event. Gov. Seyi Makinde stated clearly that the congress was a family affairs and he urged the newly inaugurated executives to foster unity among the party members across the zone.

In an interview with Ojaomonews.com, HE Engr Seyi Makinde reiterated that PDP will takeover the zone, Ekiti state and Osun States will be having their elections very soon, we must all work assiduously to deliver the two states, rescue Nigerians from this impoverishing and bloodletting party called APC.
Atofarati, the newly inaugurated publicity Secretary promised to work with everybody in building new image for the party and to propagate the party to be victorious at all levels.

He said, "My vision is to provide a reliable, indept and timely information in line with the constitution and to the constituents in real time by way of unbiased reportage of happenings and events within our great party PDP, and coming to change the narrative as to how information is disseminated in order to achieve our desired and ultimate goal, which is victory at all elections, be it state, zonal or national levels",

Bad Governance: APC Will Not Govern Nigeria Beyond 2023, Makinde Vows
…says a united PDP will secure South-West

Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared that the bad governance and maladministration of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will not extend beyond 2023, as, according to him, Nigerians have become tired of the party and would kick it out of power at the polls.

Governor Makinde, who stated this on Wednesday, during the inauguration of the South-West PDP Zonal Executives, held at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, said that the redemption of the country has begun from the South-West geopolitical zone.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted him as saying that the unity of the PDP will secure victory for the party in the South-West and Nigeria.

The governor, who emphasised that the APC cannot be allowed to rule the country beyond 2023, said that there is the urgent need to address the challenges of insecurity and economic recession, which have been rampant under the APC government.

He said: “I want to thank you all for the peaceful transfer of power in South-West PDP. I want to also congratulate you, the Chairman and other zonal executive members of the South-West PDP and pray that you will steer the ship of the party to a fair haven.

“As I said before we started voting at the congress, it is a family affair and our intention was not to defeat ourselves but to bring forward our best materials, which we can use to defeat APC. And I am glad that our best materials for the South-West are seated right before me.

“We need to show the entire country that we are ready to take power back at the centre. I was reading in the newspaper where a national leader of the APC said that the APC will be in power beyond 2023. I want to say it is a big lie. Let them hear that from this South-West PDP Congress, the redemption of Nigeria has started.

Nigerians are tired of all the misgovernance of the APC at the national level. Is it insecurity? Is it economic meltdown? Is it the aloofness of the entire leadership of government at the national level? Is that what is giving them the assurance of continuing beyond 2023? No, Nigerians will not take that.”

The governor equally charged the new executive members to bring aggrieved members back to the fold.

He added: “Yes, you have your work cut out for you. We don’t want anyone staying on the outside and throwing stones on the inside. We want you to go out to anyone in PDP South-West that may be aggrieved, bring them inside.

So, we have to ensure that all our members are brought back to the fold, because unity is what we desire and unity is what will win the zone for us.

“Yes, I have been accused that I have not reached out to some personalities in the party.

It is true but I was not the one who won the election. I think it is the winner of the election that is supposed to put a call through to those party members. In any case, I will call them at my own time. As a matter of fact, now that we have inaugurated our excos, I will call them.

“If we look at the PDP setup nationally, South-West is in the same situation as North-Central.

The strongest zone so far is the South-South geopolitical zone. For us in the South-West, it is time to ensure that we take our rightful position before the general elections in 2023.

South-West is the only zone that has two off-season elections before 2023. So, can you now see that your job is already waiting for you?

“Let us just even step back for one minute: if the PDP wins the two elections, what do you think will happen in the 2023 general elections?

So, that is why it is important that we don’t give the room for those hell-bent on destroying our chance in the South-West because the stakes are really very high not only for the zone but for the country. So, let us leave behind the things that happened in the past leading up to the congress.”

Governor Makinde, who expressed the commitment to support the new zonal executives, added that the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states are must-win for the PDP,

“Those states -Osun and Ekiti – will hold elections next year and it is a must-win election for us. For me, I stand before you the newly inaugurated zonal executive committee for PDP South West, that I will support you. Yes, we still have quite a bit to chew through but I don’t have any doubt that with the quality of people that we have in this zonal exco and the quality of representation that we will be having at the national executive committee of our party, the South-West has found its voice.

“At the national level, there is an emergency meeting tomorrow and all the six of you must be there. One thing I want to put before you that you must canvass at that NEC meeting if it comes up, is the fact that it is time for PDP at the national level to put together a committee to start looking at the zoning of positions for the party nationally.”

In his remark, the newly-inaugurated South-West PDP Chairman, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, said the most important thing to him and members of the Zonal exco is to return the lost glory of PDP in the zone.

He added that the new zonal exco will ensure that credible and acceptable candidates are presented for elections.

He said: “This time, not five out of six but the entire South-West zone will be won for the PDP. I shall dispense all powers at my disposal to justify the confidence reposed in me by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and all leaders of the party at the congress of April 12, 2021, and the confidence of the entire members of PDP in zone.”

Ekiti workers declare three days fasting, prayers over unpaid salaries

In a bid to further press for the payment of their allowances and other entitlements, striking staffers of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, have declared three days of fasting and prayers.

The strike, which is still ongoing, was called by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) of the teaching hospital.

They said they were owed several months of salaries, allowances, and deductions.

The fasting and prayers, according to them, was to seek the face of God and his intervention in their plight.

The union also accused the state government of insensitivity.

They vowed they would continue the strike until all their demands, including the outstanding gross salaries and other allowances were met.

The JOHESU Chairman, EKSUTH chapter, Omotola Farotimi, who spoke at the hospital on Tuesday after the prayer session tagged, “O’ Lord Heal Our Land,” stated that the programme started on Monday and would end on Wednesday.

“We are seeking the face of God, because things are not easy for our members,” she said.

“We believe that with God all things are possible. No one can underrate the power of God, that is why we call on Him to heal our land.”

Ms Farotimi alongside JOHESU State Chairman, Ajoloko Femi, urged the government to renovate and equip the Dental and Opthamology building and all other departments in the hospital with modern working equipment for workers to operate effectively.

They noted that they had earlier met with the leadership of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to mediate on the prolonged strike, hoping that the issues would be resolved without delay, but noted that no solutions had been found.

They called on Ekiti indigenes and Nigerians to show understanding and help in finding a solution to the problem.

Ekiti South Agenda thickens as PDP Youth Starts Mobilization.
Sunday, April 18th 2021.

Published by Ojaomonews.com

It's no longer an hidden agenda as the agitations for the south Senatorial district of Ekiti State to produce the next governor of the state.

A group known to be "Ekiti South Development Agenda" led by Com. Idowu Afuye had been working assiduously with all the stakeholders across the party lines to make sure a southerner emerged as the governor of Ekiti State in the next governorship election of the state by year 2022.

As the momentum is gathering towards the 2022 guber poll in Ekiti State, a group of PDP youth across the 6 local governments that made up Ekiti South Senatorial District, a constituency been represented by Sen. Biodun Olujimi since 2015 at the Red Chamber Nigerian Senate had come up with a name "Ekiti South Agenda youth movement wing" to mobilize, root and make a political plan for a southerner towards the next guber poll.

In a statement released by the group, received by Ojaomonews.com. "it's high time we fight against the marginalization of the South, the southerners paid their dues before, during and after the creation of Ekiti State. It's worrisome and very absurd to have been playing the southerners to the corner when it's time to enjoy what we all fought for.

Late Olowoporoku was played out despite of his efforts to make Ekiti State real, Fmr deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof kolapo Olusola Eleka was also dribbled and the south was rigged out.

At this moment, we're not taking it with levity hands.

Ekiti South Senatorial District is the most populous district in Ekiti State with six local governments area while others only have five. We're tired of marginalization, shortchanging and rubbing".

The secretary of the group Com. Tamale Augustine who made the statement available for Ojaomonews.com in Ikere-Ekiti today, April 18, 2021. Said, the group had mobilized 50 youths in each local government of the Senatorial within two weeks, very soon we're visiting every tertiary institutions across the state for sensitization, we're visiting every public places in the Senatorial district and our flyers will be in all the streets of Ekiti State soon, he added

S'West PDP Congress: Makinde Replies Fayose, Admonished Him To Stand By The Truth.

Published by Ojaomonews.com
On April 15th, 2021.

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, has been cautioned against making unguarded statements and spreading falsehood against the person of the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, over the just-concluded South-West PDP zonal congress held in Osogbo.

The former governor, and a zonal chairmanship candidate, Dr. Eddy Eniola Olafeso, who earlier promised to abide by the outcome of the congress, have been quoted in the media making contrary statements in the past few days.

A statement by Mr. Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, however, admonished the former governor and other leaders on the need to stand by the truth, be men of their words and give the necessary support to the new zonal chairman of the party, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja.

“We implore all stakeholders in the South-West PDP to accept the outcome of the Osogbo congress in good faith and join hands with other leaders to build a virile party that is ready to return the glory of the PDP in the zone,” the statement said.

The statement noted that Governor Makinde had already regarded the Osogbo zonal congress as a family matter, having declared that there would be neither a victor nor a vanquished, warning that Fayose and others should not take that liberty to blackmail him.

Adisa maintained that Governor Makinde remains open to the idea of collaborating and cooperating with all leaders to rebuild the PDP in the South-West zone, with a view to turning it into a winning party again.

The statement comes on the heels of press interviews by former Governor Fayose and Dr. Olafeso, which presented some distorted versions of the outcome of the Osogbo congress.

The statement added that it was unfair for any stakeholder to go to a national television to attack Makinde and impugn the integrity of the peaceful and transparent congress.

According to the governor’s aide, the allegations by Fayose and especially his reference to Governor Makinde as being ‘quiet but deadly’ were baseless, made in bad faith and should be discountenanced by all well-meaning individuals.

He also stated that it appears that those raising unfounded issues against the congress might be smarting from ‘failing in an art they thought they had perfected.’

The statement added that the orchestrated media blitzkrieg against Makinde is a misguided and untoward development, adding that those involved should desist from trying to tarnish the governor’s image.

The governor’s aide wondered why the former Ekiti governor, Dr. Olafeso and others are trying to impugn the integrity of the peaceful, transparent and fair congress, by citing developments unconnected with the congress.
He noted that the claim that some members of a Road Transport Union followed Governor Makinde to Osogbo was spurious and puerile.

Adisa added that the governor is a peace-loving man and that he should not be accused of something he knew nothing about.

He stated that any individual could have found his/her way to Osogbo and claim to have been in the governor’s convoy but that such claim should not be taken as sacred.

The media aide further wondered why despite the claims by Fayose and Olafeso, there was not a single case of violence or arrest of anyone loyal to Governor Makinde at the congress.

Adisa added that if some individuals decided to explore their freedom of movement and expression by travelling to Osogbo for sight-seeing and then made a video, which is deemed offensive, Fayose should have reported to the appropriate authorities instead of seeking to defame the character of Governor Makinde.

“The South-West PDP zonal congress held in Osogbo has come and gone and there is no doubt that it will go down the history lane as one of the most peaceful PDP congresses in the zone.

“The peaceful conduct of that congress, one must say, followed the body language and actions of the leader of the party in the zone, Governor Makinde, a man renowned for being a peaceful politician.

“Despite the desperation and provocations from the Fayose camp, the governor maintained his calm and guided the zone to a peaceful congress that has now produced worthy leaders for the party.

“The governor made it clear from the outset that the congress was about rebuilding and strengthening the South-West PDP and he worked hard to ensure that the party puts its best forward, as, according to him, whatever happened in that congress had ramifications for the national polity.

“Governor Makinde had equally described the congress as a family affair, promising to work with anyone who emerged winner, with the climax of the Monday, April 12, 2021, event being the eventual acceptance of Governor Makinde as the leader of the South-West PDP by former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

“One is, therefore, surprised that less than 48 hours after that acceptance and the commitment to work with Governor Makinde to build the party, the former governor is masterminding an assault against Governor Makinde over the peaceful congress in which the latter made it clear that there would be ‘no victor, no vanquished’.

“One can see the ungodly pattern Makinde’s critics are following by trying to build a false narrative around the congress with a view to rubbishing it.

“It should, therefore, come as a surprise to the public that the same camp that claimed that it had conceded defeat and was ready to work with Arapaja, is now engaging in media warfare against the governor.

“In the morning of Wednesday, Mr. Eddy Olafeso was on national TV to lay the foundation for what would be a sustained effort to tarnish the image of the governor. By evening, the cycle was completed by Mr. Fayose, who also appeared on the same medium.

“This has proven that false alarm and deliberate falsehood are being deployed to rubbish an otherwise peaceful congress.

“While we would not like to join issues with Mr. Fayose and those who contested against Ambassador Arapaja, over the outcome of the congress, we would like to caution that no one should attempt to impugn the personality of Governor Makinde, a peace-loving individual, who has never got anything by violence. The peaceful conduct of his campaign while running for office as governor of Oyo State is an attestation to this fact.

“Therefore, going on air to say that Governor Makinde is “quiet but deadly” is not only unstatesmanlike, it is also unguarded, malicious and wicked.

“We make bold to say that while those who lost the election at the congress are allowed to rue their loss despite the assurance by Governor Makinde that there will be no winner or loser, it is expedient that they guard their utterances and avoid any descent into the gutter.”

James Oja, 8/4/2021

Ojaomonews.com

St. John’s Primary school, situated in remote Fenwa Community, Ido Local Government, Ibadan will benefit from Oyo State Government’s 2020 UBEC/SUBEB Intervention projects. This, the State Government said will improve the school’s infrastructure, beauty and learning environment.

According to the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, who paid an on-the-spot visit to the school, in Ido Local Government, after a hint on the social media, this is one of the proactive steps of Oyo State Government in revamping the education sector.
He said Oyo State Government will not rest on its oars until it delivers all its promises to provide world-class education to all pupils in the State.

“Despite the unprecedented challenges we are facing in the Nation, Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde will ensure it deliver its promises to provide world-class education, training and care for everyone, whatever their background”, he said.

While Dr. Adeniran promised renovation of the existing block of classrooms in the school, he also hinted that the School would receive a block of three classrooms, borehole, furniture and toilet facilities in the 2020 intervention project which will commence very soon.
Adeniran said projects schools like St. John’s Primary School with dilapidated structures are scattered across local governments, but they are priorities to the government.

He added that Engr. Seyi Makinde led Government wishes to cater for all the 2,457 schools in Oyo State.

Adeniran therefore called on members of the public to formally nudge the State Government through the Board on structures that need urgent attention, rather than casting aspersions on the State Government or its MDAs.

“This is part of our urgent interventions in the Basic education sector. We did something like this at a public school in Oluyole Local Government, which has been abandoned for years”, he said.

While addressing the PDP leaders, he said it is very important to carry along party members in his home state, because Charity they say Begins at home. As it could be seen across all the 5 States he has been to so far, that the party is already polarised and divisive factions are not right for a party that's wants to win Election in respective states and the central government.
