Kogi students endorsed governor Yahaya Bello for second term.

In preparation for the gubernatorial election of Kogi state later this year.
The students of Kogi state polytechnics had taken to the streets of their campus to show their readiness in supporting Gov. Yahaya Bello for second term in office.

In spite of insinuations whether the national chairman of All Progressives Congress Adams Oshiomhole will connive with some leaders of the party to deny Gov Bello the second term ticket.

Also in another intrigues against the bid of the governor to be the flagbearer of the party and to govern the state for the second term. A faction in the party had earlier signed a communique to distance themselves from the governor and endorsed another aspirant.

But the students came out with placards "GYB IS FOR THE STUDENTS", GYB IS FOR THE YOUTH".

Obasanjo: My Experience In The Plane That Almost Crash-landed In Lagos

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has confirmed he was among those on board the Ethiopian Airlines flight that nearly crashed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Wednesday.
In an interview with Premium Times, Obasanjo narrated how the pilot had difficulty landing as a result of strong winds and a heavy downpour.
NAN had reported that the Ethiopian Airlines aircraft, ET-901, had departed the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa at 7am (Nigerian time).
Obasanjo had attended a stakeholders dialogue on Continental Trade and Strengthening Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) in Ethiopia.

Close to 400 passengers are said to be on board the flight which had been smooth until the pilot attempted to land at the airport.
Obasanjo, who was returning to Lagos, said he “remained calm” while reading his papers during the chaotic situation.
“One man, who was next to me, said, ‘Oga you no worry?’ I said, ‘Íf I worry, what will I do? If you are on a plane and you have a situation like this, why should you worry?’ I left everything in the hands of God,” the former president was quoted as saying.
“The pilot thought he could land. And he landed. He touched down. But I think he took a swift decision that he had to take off again.
“He took off and apologised and landed again at about 12.30. We spent just about 10 minutes in the air before we landed again.
“So he took off. If he did not, I think he probably would have overrun the runway. He then apologised and said he would try to land again. He tried again, and we landed safely. And we all clapped.”
Otori Jimoh Otan, duty manager and chief customer service (Nigeria) of the airline, had told NAN that if the pilot had continued taxing down after landing on the third touch line, he would have overshot the runway.

SENATORS DURO FASEYI & BIODUN OLUJIMI JOINT GOODWILL MESSAGE TO THE CRITICAL PDP STAKEHOLDERS MEETING  HOLDING THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2019 AT KADILAT HOTEL, IFAKI.

We welcome your Excellencies and distinguished party leaders to this critical  meeting designed to re-position our great party, the PDP.

We reliably gathered that an Action Committee was set up at the last meeting to advise the main body of the Stakeholders on the way forward for our Party. We therefore expect a report which will generate robust deliberations that will ultimately, galvanise our party progressively. On this note, we want to thank the Committee Members for their selfless Service to to our great party. God will bless and reward you abundantly.

In the political domain recently,3major events happened that are of significance to our history, as politicians. The Supreme Court Judgement on Ekiti State Governorship election. The  second event are the results of the Governorship Elections won nationwide by PDP which is now 17states with corresponding increase in the number of Seats in the National and State Assemblies.
And 3rdly, a positive update on Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, our presidential Candidate.

On the results of PDP governorship elections nationwide,We are convinced that more positive results will follow at the tribunals and the Courts, as we celebrate the victory of Hon Pastor Kehinde Agboola who retrieved his mandate at the tribunal, recently.

The  Supreme Court judgement on Ekiti governorship election has only imposed a challenge on the party and the leaders to properly evaluate where we got it all wrong in the last elections. Blackmail and passing the bulk are not the solutions.

Meanwhile, the  performances of our great party, the PDP nation wide are obvious testimonies, even without the help of the police and the Army that we are the leading political party in Nigeria. This should be a source of great impetus, joy and inspiration to all our members.
Ekiti is a PDP state and we appeal to all the Stakeholders to please return the Party to the Winning Forum of the PDP States. That is supposed to be the objective of this critical stakeholders forum

The 3rd event is the potential victory of Alhaji Atiku, our Presidential Candidate. Revelations at the Tribunal already show that the last presidential election was a charade and there are assurances that the PDP will reclaim the stolen mandate. No doubt, with the bold step taken by PDP at the tribunal, we have deepened democratic values today and have already laid a solid foundation for victory in subsequent presidential election, in Nigeria. .

Finally on Ekiti. We have a lot to do to reposition the party and the time  to do it is now. Your efforts will not be in vain.

We assure you of our unflinching commitment, loyalty and support to rebuilding this party with you and we will be selfless about it. We wish you very fruitful deliberations and safe journey back to your respective destinations.

We are indeed grateful for this rare privilege offered us to address this historical political Platform.

Thank you all.

...Says New Governor Deserves His Glory Day

The outgoing Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has congratulated his successor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, saying the new Governor deserves to enjoy his historic day without having him share in the glory with him.

In a veiled reference to why he will not be attending the formal inauguration of Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, today, Ambode said Sanwo-Olu should be allowed to be the star of his inauguration.

"I have already formally handed over reigns of power in the State to the new Governor in a most cordial and convivial ceremony at the State House yesterday. The formal inauguration should have Mr. Sanwo-Olu as the star of the day. I don't think that glory should be shared with him by my presence," Ambode said in a short statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna.

Mr. Ambode said he has had a quality private moment with his successor and he is confident that with the prayers, cooperation and collective support of all Lagosians, the new government will succeed in the excellent tradition of progressive governance which Lagos State is known for.

GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE
PRESS RELEASE

SUBJECT: MY TENANCY IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE IS OVER – GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA

-SAYS HE ENJOYED THE WONDERFUL SUPPORT OF IMO PEOPLE

-AND THAT HE HAS DONE WELL AS GOVERNOR

Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that his tenancy in Imo State Government House where he has lived in the past eight years as governor has expired and also his governorship, stating that whatever has a beginning must have an end.

The governor also stated that he enjoyed the wonderful support of Imo people as their governor for eight years adding that some of the elite who had certain reservations about his administrations must have had their reasons, adding that he has done very well as the governor of the State for eight years.

The governor spoke at an event to mark his Pull-out from the Government House on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 stating that many Governors had come before him and many will come after him too.

His words “To God alone be the glory for a great day like this. The day ordained by him alone to mark the end of a journey. Today, nature has permitted that we must shut down in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This would be my last speech as Governor of Imo State, speaking from the Government House of Imo State. In a few minutes from now, these doors at the back will be shut behind me, and that would mark the end of my Certificate of Occupancy of this building”.

He stated “I have often said to people that I’m but a tenant who has come on a Rescue Mission, knowing that one day, my tenancy would be over. Let me inform all of you Imolites that my tenancy is over. And under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I cannot stay any day longer than tomorrow (Wednesday). This has gone a long way to confirm that for every journey that has a beginning, would have an end, and for every sunrise, there must be a sunset. This is what life has bestowed on all of us and I’m here to just say one thing to all of you – to say THANK YOU”.

He continued “I say thank you because many governors have been here before me and many will come after me. But I must dire say that I have gotten such an unusual support from the people of Imo that has never been recorded in history. I’m grateful, thank you once more. But, it’s important that I look back 8 years ago and my journey in Imo State. For those of you who have lived here for the past 8 years, will join me quickly in this my analysis”.

He remarked “I came to Imo State in 2011 as your Governor, being elected by you all. And I promised one thing that I will make Imo better, and I declared Imo must be better. And I said to all of you that I’m coming on a rescue mission and rescue mission connotes that I would do things not the proper way of doing things, in other words, I would do everything I can to fix things right because I saw what is called an emergency situation in infrastructural development, education and the rest of them,

“This has explained perhaps why most people do not understand my style, because they believe that I brake protocols. I never broke any protocol, I simply bend the protocols to get me on my way to fix things. Some say that I broke the law, but there’s no known law in Nigeria that I have broken. What I do is to smartly bend it, when its about to brake I simply leave it to get the job done. I have not followed the routine culture of bureaucratic bottlenecks which have kept our State and nation in bondage,

“I do things the other way and I get results in all I did. But one thing is pivotal to the governance of Imo State. And its that I came with a vision and my mission was quite clear and I came with an added passion to deliver my vision”.

“Today, I’m proud to announce to you looking 8 years down the lane that Imo is indeed better than I met it in all ramifications. I recall vividly in 2011, when darkness ravaged our City Owerri and at about 7 O’clock nobody would make a move out of the fear of being kidnapped. Today, Imo is a secured State,

“I present to you while I leave, a secured Imo State. I recall those days when children could not go to schools for lack of School fees, both in Primary, Secondary and University, and couldn’t afford to buy their books, 8 years later, we are proud to announce that education is free for the past 8 years and no child pays for school fees or worry about how to go to school. I present to you a free education State as I walk out of this Government House,

“Most of you may know that our Urban Renewal has changed the face of Owerri and our City is looking better than it has never been and Owerri is the fastest growing City in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are proud to say so. 8 years down, you will agree with me that we have built so many infrastructure that have not been recorded in the history of Imo State. I accept criticisms and many might criticize me, but one thing they can’t take away from me is that I came, I saw and I conquered,

“But my speech this evening is not to enumerate my achievements, but to communicate to you the Imo State that I’m about to handover and the challenges because as my brothers and Sisters, we have a great state called Imo where our people are highly industrious and willing to work. But we have one challenge, and the challenge is that our elites do not help matters whenever it comes to the issue of progress in this land.

“Of course today, Power has gone back to the elites from the masses. The masses are no longer in power and you can judge when the masses are in power and when the elites are in power in a few months to come. Therefore, I would urge all of you to remain prayerful. Support any government that is called a government in power and support Them to do their best. But never use me to judge any government because you might be making the biggest mistake,

“I’ve raised the bar and the bar is high, and the shoes are quite big. Again to most people who have been so disillusioned, people who felt they have no reason to forge ahead, let me announce to you that I came here with good intention, and I’m leaving here with the best of intention.
Let me announce to my political enemies, they should stop because they have no justifiable reason to fight me. Rather, if they think they can fight me, let them demonstrate it in the pace of work. But let me announce again and again, I’m a lover of peace, but as I work out of this Government House, let none fight me and I won’t fight anyone. Governorship is a shield that covers every personality that is in office, but when you remove this shield or this mask off my face, you will see the real Rochas”.

Chief Atofarati said, “It is clear that the entire publications were vicious, wicked and reckless ploy to impugn the reputation of our principal and lower her in the estimation of right thinking members of the public, and also cause division within the PDP by locking the leaders against one another."

"There is need to stress that the said write up (Publication of May 25th) never emanated from Senator Biodun Olujimi but was put out by fifth columnists who are intent on destroying her character and ruin the work of rebuilding the party and unprofessionally published by your establishment without recourse to the senator to verify the authenticity of the story."

“As it were, the statements have now been published and circulated to an undetermined number of people in Nigeria and internationally outside Nigeria with the sole aim of blackmailing our principal, Senator Biodun Olujimi, and misleading the unsuspecting general public”.

This administration has done nothing to help the poor in the North – Aisha Buhari laments

Aisha Buhari, wife of the president, has lamented that the various social investment programmes (SIP) planned by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari failed in the north.
Buhari, who was speaking at an interactive forum at Aso Rock on Saturday, said she was told that 30,000 women from Adamawa would benefit from the programme but nothing of such happened.
“Concerning the N500 billion voted for SIP, that was part of 2015 campaigns where they promised to give out N10,000, feed pupils in primary schools and give N5,000 to the poorest of the poor,” she said.
“The SSA to the president on social investment (Maryam Uwais) is a lady from Kano and I’m sure that my husband decided to put somebody from Kano because of the population and political impact it made. I have never asked how the money is  used or being given out.
“I met one of the president’s aides on SIP once and he promised me that for my state (Adamawa), N10,000 each would be given to 30,000 women but up till now, I haven’t heard from him.
“I don’t want to raise alarm that my state did not benefit from it. That’s where the secretary to the government of the federation is from. I kept quiet because I didn’t want people to say that I talk too much. Recently I saw a 74-year-old man selling petty things in Kano, I asked him how much is his capital, he told me between N3,000 and N4,000… Don’t forget that we have campaigned to give the poorest of the poor, N5,000 every month .
“So, I don’t know where the social investment worked. Maybe it worked out in some states. In my own state, only a local government benefited out of the 22 LGAs. I didn’t ask what happened and I don’t want to know but I can say it failed woefully in Kano. We have a lot of women who do business locally due to the cultural thing in the north, they are at home doing their businesses. Some are millionaires, some have thousands of naira, they need the assistance but they did not get it. Most northern women do not belong to any market association
“I was expecting that N500 billion to be utilized in different methods in the north for the aim to be achieved. I don’t know the method they used but most of the northern states did not get it.”
On the $16 million counterpart fund expended on mosquito nets, the president’s wife also said “I have heard about mosquito nets, Nigeria paid its counterpart fund, $16m. I asked them to give my own share of the net to send it to my village people, I didn’t get it.”
“They spent, $16 million buying mosquito nets, I did not get it, maybe some people have it. But I feel that $16 million is enough to fumigate mosquitoes all over Nigeria. That’s my opinion.”
“Over N12 billion has been released by the president to take care of trauma cases in across the country. Can you please monitor the money? The ministers are going very soon and the money has been released,” she added.
