Olujimi Demands Immediate Retraction Of Publications, Issues The Nation Newspaper 7-Day Ultimatum To Apologize.
The Minority Leader of 8th senate, Senator Biodun Olujimi has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the publisher of a Nigerian Newspaper, The Nation, to apologize over his “defamatory statements” against her.
Olujimi in a letter dated May 27th, addressed to the publisher and editor-in-Chief of The Nation Newspaper over a certain publications made by his establishment as reported by the Ekiti State correspondent, RASAQ IBRAHIM where in the said newspaper ( online) on the 25th and 26th of May 2019, respectively, published with the headlines "OLUJIMI SPEAKS, MOCKS FAYOSE, ELEKA OVER SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT" and "OLUJIMI DENIES MOCKING FAYOSE, ELEKA OVER SUPREME COURT VERDICT" demanded a seven day ultimatum, public apology on four widely read Nigerian Newspaper.
Contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Monday by Olujimi's media assistant, Chief Sanya Atofarati, said;
“Be advised that if we do not receive your formal retraction and apology as demanded within seven days of receipt hereof, we shall not hesitate to seek appropriate remedies for your publications and dissemination of libelous press statement purportedly issued by our distinguished Senator, Biodun Olujimi which in actual fact never emanated from the senator or her media aid as claimed in your 'fake' report published in your newspaper(THE NATION NEWSPAPER) on 25th of May to warrant denial of same in your publication of May 26th, 2019.
Chief Atofarati said, “It is clear that the entire publications were vicious, wicked and reckless ploy to impugn the reputation of our principal and lower her in the estimation of right thinking members of the public, and also cause division within the PDP by locking the leaders against one another."
"There is need to stress that the said write up (Publication of May 25th) never emanated from Senator Biodun Olujimi but was put out by fifth columnists who are intent on destroying her character and ruin the work of rebuilding the party and unprofessionally published by your establishment without recourse to the senator to verify the authenticity of the story."
“As it were, the statements have now been published and circulated to an undetermined number of people in Nigeria and internationally outside Nigeria with the sole aim of blackmailing our principal, Senator Biodun Olujimi, and misleading the unsuspecting general public”.
