PDP REPOSITIONING MOVEMENT:

APPEAL COURT JUDGEMENT : SENATOR DURO FASEYI, A DOGGED FIGHTER

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ado Ekiti recently delivered judgement in the case filed by our own, Senator Duro Faseyi, in which he contested the eligibility of Senator Adetumbi of APC.

The judgement has come and we have put it behind us.

Within split seconds of the delivery of the judgement, Senator Duro Faseyi rose, in Spirited vigour, wrote to appreciate the goodness of God. As courageous as a lion, he appreciated members of his Party and supporters for standing by him.He admonished them to put the judgement behind them and braced up for the challenges ahead.

This is the anchor of our message to Senator Duro Faseyi. We identify with his Spartan courage, resilience and doggedness all through the sitting of the Courts. We appreciate in particular,  his contributions through his Lawyers to Jurisprudence, a critical aspect in our legal evolution particularly in respects of our Electoral Laws.

We are persuaded indeed in your beliefs that democracy must be allowed to thrive, within the ambit of the judicial interpretations of the various Electoral laws of our land. And the need for the Legislature to re-work obvious lacuna. This you have done and commendably too.

As one of the pillars of the Repositioning Movement, you have also  added your voice, diligently and doggedly with determination against ALL anti- democracy  elements and slave drivers.

You preach what you believe, without apology that democratic structures must be allowed to stand. And in particular that Power must in kind and indeed, return to the people.  You are indeed against dictatorship exploitation and greediness of those  leaders without conscience.

The Repositioning Movement and the Stakeholders therefore thank you for your immense contributions to our struggle for a new political dawn in PDP, in Ekiti.

We also share our  emotions too with Hon Pastor Kehinde Agboola and Arch Omotoso who invested much in the litigations.
We welcome all of you back home from the courts.  God will replenish all you spent and grant you long life.

Signed
Hon.Kehinde  Odebunmi-Chairman

Tribute To A
Legend!

On this day of Oct. 29th 2018 you (HON. Otunba Adedeji Michael Adeniyi) gave up the ghost. It was never a good incident and sweet memory, it's only God that can console us.

The callous ones shows their cruelty and it lingers in our hearts.

What a wicked world? 😭😭😭

They never thought of it that you're a loving husband, father, brother, friend and leader to many.

Your death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
Your loving and caring attitudes leaves a memory no one can steal...

We love you!

There's No Need For An Airport In Ado-Ekiti... Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bolaji Asiwaju Tinubu has said that there is no need for an airport in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.
Tinubu stated this at the seventh convocation ceremony of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUA).
Tinubu, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Obi of Onitsha, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe and Professor Anthony Olusegun Adegbulugbe, were conferred with honorary degrees at the event.
Tinubu told the event host, Chief Afe Babalola, Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and other dignitaries that the State does not need an airport.
There have been ongoing plan to build an airport in Ado-Ekiti a plan that the state has been working on for years leading to the inauguration of an eight-man committee to oversee its construction.
The past administration failed to bring the project to fruition and Governor Fayemi has sought to continue the push.
Chief Afe Babalola is said to be the one pushing for the project as he allegedly feels a need for the airport because of his university.
But speaking at the convocation ceremony, Tinubu told the audience that there is clearly no need for an airport in Ado-Ekiti.
The former Lagos Governor added that building one in the city would amount to a waste of the state’s scarce resources.
Tinubu pointed out that the functional airport in Akure, the capital of Ondo State will fulfill the air transport needs of residents of Ekiti state, as well as visitors to the state.
According to Tinubu, what the Ekiti State should do is to push for the fixing of the Akure-Ado-Ekiti Road because an airport in Akure will effectively serve both states.

Bishop Oyedepo Approves N650 Million To Repair Roads

The recent road repairs currently being undertaken will cost the Living Faith Church a whooping sum of N650 million naira (about $2 million).
The roads which cover the old toll gate bordering Lagos and Ogun States as well as stretches of the Idi-Iroko expressway from Oju Ore to Iyana Iyesi as well as Sango itself began to undergo repairs as executed by the Church recently. Traveling along the road to the border as well as Agbara and other towns had become a harrowing experience for both worshippers at the Church and non-worshippers alike every day of the week. This led the Church to intervene in order to give the people a respite.

This is not the first of such interventions, however it is the biggest single intervention till date and has helped in no small measure per time to relieve road users. Speaking yesterday, Bishop Oyedepo announced that the sum of N650 million was approved and released for the repairs, adding that Canaanland where the Church is situated is the birthplace of giants where many have gotten their spiritual and physical needs met for the past 20 years.

FG disburses $103.64m Abacha loot to the poor

The Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments, Mrs Maryam Uwais, has said that the Federal Government has been channelling the recovered Abacha loot and the International Development Association /World Bank credit towards programmes and policies designed to address the plight of poor and vulnerable Nigerians.

Delivering an address on Monday at the training on illicit funds, the Presidential aide said from the August 2018 to the October payment cycle, the total amount disbursed from the Abacha loot was $76,538,530 and $27,099,028 from the IDA credit.

Uwais, who said the funds, which were specifically being disbursed to beneficiaries of the National Cash Transfer Programme, a component of the National Social Investment Programme, noted that the gesture was positively changing the fortune of many Nigerians.

She said the decision to distribute the Abacha loot and the IDA funds to poor and vulnerable Nigerians, who were mined from a National Social Register, collated by the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office, was reached by the Swiss government, the World Bank and the Federal Government.

This, she said, would help to ensure that the funds were well utilised and not diverted to private pockets, as was the case in the past.

“In December 2014, a Swiss judge gave a forfeiture order to the effect that the money ($322.5m) recovered from the family of late General Abacha would be returned to Nigeria, one of the conditions being that the World Bank would be involved in monitoring disbursements there from.

“Presumably, this was as a consequence to the opaqueness that surrounded the application of recovered funds,” Uwais said.

She said efforts to tackle poverty in Nigeria must also take into consideration the basic and peculiar needs of the people.

The Presidential aide expressed regret that there were millions of Nigerian citizens who had never felt the presence of government in their lives, adding many of them had continued to struggle to eat one meal a day.”

Uwais listed key achievements of the Cash Transfer Programme funded with the Abacha loot and IDA loan facility to include enrolment and payment of 620,947 beneficiaries across 29 states.

GOVERNANCE COLLAPSE: SSG, CHIEF OF STAFF, 10 SSA & 2 COMMISSIONERS RESIGNS IN BAYELSA STATE

It is ineed a challenging times for Gov Siriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, as gale of resignations and defection hits his government a month to the governorship election in the State.
It will be recalled that Gov.Dickson fully exercised his powers of incumbent and imposed Senator Douye Diri as the PDP governorship candidate without recourse to the feelings and mood of the majority of the party members in the State including Dr.Goodluck Jonathan who opted for Chief Timi Alaibe.
Unconfirmed reports had it that, the deputy governor, chief of Staff, SSG and the immediate past speaker of the State Assembly who was compelled to give way for another person two weeks ago are all not happy with the way Gov.Dickinson imposed Douye Diri after giving them the nod to purchase the governorship nomination form and are working for the APC candidate behind the scene.
You could recall that the former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State and a two-time speaker of the State House of Assembly
His excellency Rt.Hon. Ebebi Peremobowei had earlier on the 11th of October, 2019 resigned and withdraw from the membership of peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state giving his reasons that he can’t endure experiencing an excruciating period of a largely fraudulent internal democracy in the state chapter of the party who disregard and disrespect for the due process as entrenched in the partys constitution and electoral guidelines, high-handesness and desperation of the party’s leadership.
Barely few days after his resignation, over ten (10) persons has tendered their resignation letters to the governor, Governor Dickson seriake.
  • BARR. BENJAMIN S. OGBARA, director, Ethics and compliance, Due process Bureau.
  • OMBU NAPOLEON ESQ. Senior special assistant on community development to Deputy Governor.
  • HON. BERRY NEGERESE, A serving Commissioner
  • HON. STEPHEN DIVER, senior special advice to the Governor on political matters
  • CHIEF TIMIPA TIWEI ORUNIMIGHE. Senior special advicer to the governor on conflicts resolution in oil and gas producing communities
  • HON. ALANENE WILLIAMS, former Commissioner and the special advicer to the governor, Governors office
  • HIGHT CHIEF EVARADA DON ABEDNEGO, Special advicer to the Governor on urban security
  • MARKSON FEFEGHA, Honourable Commissioner for mineral Resources
  • CHIEF NATUS ZEBAKAME, Special advicer to the Governor on culture
  • SIR (HON.) GODSPOWER AKE, Special advicer to the Governor on Agriculture

FG considers new tax on Coke, Pepsi, other soft drinks

By Prince George Uche
Abuja, Nigeria
The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, has hinted that the federal government is considering introducing excise duty on carbonated drinks.
The minister made this known while addressing journalists on the sidelines of the ongoing annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group.
Excise duty is a levy placed on the manufacture and sale of locally produced goods.
Information provided on the Nigeria Customs Service website shows that excise is currently placed on non-alcoholic beverages, fruit juices, beer, stout and alcoholic beverages.
According to Ahmed, the government is working on maximising existing revenue streams while trying to identify new revenue streams.
“Our objective is to be able to harness the existing revenue streams that we have by ensuring that enforcement is effective to expand the tax base and also to identify new revenue streams that we can add to expand the revenue base,” she said.
“So in expanding the revenue base, we have proposed the increase of VAT but there are also other revenue streams that we are looking at and some of them include the introduction of excise duties on carbonated drinks but there is a process to doing these things.
“Any tax that you are introducing will involve a lot of consultations and also amendments of some laws or introduction of new regulations.
“There are several cost-cutting measures also in the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative (SRGI) and also a number of cost-cutting initiatives such as innovation and automation as well as capacity building of our people.”
The minister described it as an anomaly that Nigeria’s previous budgets have been funded largely with oil revenue.
“The budget of countries is supposed to be based on taxes that the country is able to generate. It is an anomaly for us in Nigeria that our budgets have not been focusing on revenue,” she said.
“We can only develop in a manner that is sustainable when we are using tax revenues to fund our national and sub-national budgets. It is an anomaly that we are depending largely on oil and gas revenue, which is a resource that is finite. It is going to go out of existence before you know it. So we have to develop the domestic tax base. The main focus will be on expanding the tax base ensuring enforcement of the existing laws and then blocking leakages.

What Buhari Told Dino Melaye After Budget Presentation...

Since the picture emerged of President Muhammadu Buhari pointing his index finger at Senator Dino Melaye after he presented the 2020 budget at the National Assembly on Tuesday with Dino responding by hailing him with a salutary fist, there have been speculations as to what the President was telling the senator.

Observers who have followed the confrontational stance of Melaye with the Buhari government and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) closely were quick to guess that Buhari was issuing a threat to the cantankerous senator. But a source who was at the scene of the interaction has told Sentry that what Buhari said to Melaye was nothing of a threat but a question that is pregnant with meanings.
According to the source, Buhari simply asked Melaye: “You mean you are still in this chamber?”
Of course, the question is open to different interpretations considering the issues around Melaye. Since his days as a member of the House of Representatives, the senator who until he was sacked by the Court of Appeal some days ago
represented Kogi West has come across as a querulous fellow whose presence is known to provoke crisis in the legislative chambers.
But he has been unusually quiet in the 9th Senate; a development that many has attributed to the failure of the former Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki, to return to the upper chamber following his defeat by the APC candidate in Kwara Central during the last National Assembly elections.
Still, other watchers of events would interpret Buhari’s question as an indication that Buhari had already got wind of the direction of the Court of Appeal judgment that sacked Melaye on Friday and was simply expressing surprise that the deposed senator was still in the chamber.

Chairman and members of OYSIEC had been sacked on July 1, 2019, sparking reactions and counter reactions between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
Though OYOINSIGHT couldn’t confirm the actual amount chairmen and members of the commissions got, a government source who confirmed the development could not however confirm whether or not members of the OYSIEC will continue their case in court.

PDP appoints Seyi Makinde chairman Kogi Guber campaign council after Melaye, Ibrahim Idris snubbed.

__________________________________________

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has named Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as chairman Kogi State governorship campaign council after Senator Dino Melaye and Ibrahim Idris rejected its offers.

The PDP made this known in a statement signed by its National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd) which also contained a long list of other members appointed into the committee.

The party also listed Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State as the deputy chairman of the campaign council.

The PDP had previously contacted the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Melaye who was also an aspirant in the September 4th Guber primary to chair the campaign council.

Many analysts believed the offer was meant to pacify the Senator for the defeat he suffered at the primaries.

Dino Melaye however, refused to accede to the request, saying he wished the party well.

The party then approached a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris whose son also participated in the exercise.

But like Melaye, Idris turned down the offer forcing the party to look outside the state for a capable hand to chair the campaign council.

The statement further requested members of the committee to make themselves available at the party’s Wadata Plaza headquarters for official inauguration on Friday, 11th October 2019 at 10am.

The party in a similar development, also named the governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed, as the Chairman of the Bayelsa state governorship campaign council.

Buhari Abandoned Aisha Set To Marry Another Wife As First Lady.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari may likely marry another wife on Friday since Aisha, the wife of the President has been out of the country for about two months now.
Multiple sources indicated that President Buhari will tie the knot with Hajia Sadia Umar Farouq, the current Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in the coming days, which has aroused suspicions over the continued absence of current first lady Aisha Buhari

According to the Pointblanknews.com “following pressures from President Mohammadu Buhari to take Hajia Sadia Umar Farouq, the current Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, as the second wife, a source within the first family.”
According to the source who does not want to be named, Ms. Farouq has been a very close friend of Buhari and the cabal for a very long time. She was responsible for cooking all the meals Buhari and the Cabal ate during political meetings and campaigns during the All Peoples Party, APP and Congress For Progressive Change, CPC.
The source told Pointblanknews.com that Sadia is not just a good cook but also a good masseuse who regularly gives Buhari a good massage.
He loves massage and the lady has been massaging him for years now and she cooks well too, a family source told pointblanknews.com.

Aisha Buhari runs a Cosmetic and Beautician Business but did not add masseuse until recently, according to an insider.

According to the source, Aisha Buhari had come to find out about Ms. Farouq’s activities around her husband and had raised alarm, she allegedly confronted the President and demanded a stop in the relationship. Her demand fell flat as the Cabal, led by Mamma Daura, Buhari’s uncle insisted on Sadia.

In 2015 when Buhari first won the Presidential election, the cabal mounted pressure on President Buhari to take a second wife. The head of the Cabal, Mamman Daura, was said to have insisted that Buhari get a second wife. The idea was later dropped.

Sadia was then tipped for Ministerial position. She was again dropped from the Ministerial list because she was said not to have any relevant experience at the time. She was then appointed Head of the Refugee Commission.

After the 2019 Presidential elections, the cabal tipped Saida again for a Ministerial appointment. Upon seeing the list, the First lady raised alarm again. She was said to have confronted Buhari in Mecca during the Hajj. The confrontation yielded no result and she left angrily to London, according to a source familiar with the happenings.

“She has not been happy with the way she has been treated after all these years with the President. She has been fighting off the attempt by the cabal to have Baba marry Sadia but doesn’t seem to be succeeding. She left to stay in London after her last attempt to have the lady’s name removed as Minister failed,” the source said.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that the cabal never liked the first lady as they have always regarded her as an Adamawa woman who is not from the core Muslim states of the North West. Sadia is from Zamfara state.

When Pointblanknews.com reached out to the Director of Media Affairs to the First lady, Sulaiman Haruna, he did not reply to questions about Aisha Buhari’s whereabout.
But he was quoted in another medium to have said that the first lady has rights to travel wherever she likes.

Daily Trust Newspapers had quoted multiple sources at the presidential villa saying the president’s wife left the country in protest against “certain
developments” at the presidency.

It reported that the first lady, who left the country early August to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj (Muslim pilgrimage), had not returned to the country.

Muslims who participated in the hajj exercise have since returned home, but credible sources at the Villa said the president’s wife has since left Saudi Arabia for London.

“Mama (first lady) is in London. It was from Saudi Arabia that she
went to London,” a source told Daily Trust.

Asked when she would return, the source said, “I don’t know. All I know is that she is in London.”

In early July, the first lady supported her husband to host the Ambassador Extraordinary for Nigeria-Niger Cooperation, together with his wife, Fatima at the State House.
