Ekiti sacked staff: We'll seek for justice in court, we're not Partisans|Ojaomonews

... We Didn't Endorse Segun Oni, sacked Ekiti University Staff

Sequel to the earlier report published by Ojaomonews.com, claiming that; "Some disenchanted Ekiti people, under the umbrella of ‘Aggrieved Sacked Workers' (WAS),  allegedly sacked by Governor John Kayode Fayemi shortly after he assumed office in 2018, have formed themselves into a powerful bloc to work against the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji in the June 18 election,

The workers, employed by the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administrations, but got laid off by Governor Fayemi, have pledged to work for emergence of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, as the state governor in the election".

In a telephone conversation with Mrs Olukemi Olumide-Ojo, Mrs Jemialu Ronke, Mr Oke Sanmi, Mr Oluwayomi Tunde and Mr Owolabi Samuel by our media outlet respectively, they denied their accordance with the earlier report released by Mrs Falade Victoria.

Some of them in their statements claimed they're not Partisan politicians and their illegal disengagement has been presented in court of law which will be addressed, and they are confidence of getting justice.

They also call the attention of the general public to disregard any news which includes their names on the endorsement of gubernatorial candidates, "we're only mindful of getting justice from the court and we look forward for our reinstatement", they said.

Ekiti guber poll, payback time for Fayemi -Sacked workers|Ojaomonews

...As they pledge support for Oni, SDP

...Call PDP abracadabra party

Some disenchanted Ekiti people, under the umbrella of ‘Aggrieved Sacked Workers' (WAS),  allegedly sacked by Governor John Kayode Fayemi shortly after he assumed office in 2018, have formed themselves into a powerful bloc to work against the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji in the June 18 election,

The workers, employed by the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administrations, but got laid off by Governor Fayemi, have pledged to work for emergence of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, as the state governor in the election.

The group, led by Mrs. Falade Victoria and Mr. Oke Sanmi, has asserted in a protest letter it presented to the Ekiti Build Back Better's (EBBB) Spokesman, Idowu Adelusi, that their members had been physically and psychologically brutalized, vowing to pay back the APC-led government and would ensure that Oyebanji, the APC governorship candidate, is defeated.

In  a press statement issued by Adelusi in Ado Ekiti on Thursday,  received by Ojaomonews, the group's spokesman said apart from Falade and Sanmi, the letter was also signed by Mr. Owolabi Samuel, Mrs. Ojo Oluwakemi, Mr. Dada Adedayo, Mrs. Oke Oluwakemi Peters, Mr. Abioye Alaba Olayinka, Mrs. Jemialu Ronke and Mrs. Oluwayomi Tunde.

In the letter, entitled; “Stop Playing Politics With Our Life," the WAS claimed that the workers who had been unjustly laid off by Governor Fayemi, were former staff of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), the state civil service, teaching and local government service commissions.

The group continued: "Some EKSU staff employed in 2016 were confirmed in 2018, promoted in 2019, but unlawfully disengaged by the university in 2019 on the instruction of Governor Fayemi.

“Similarly, all the 2,000 workers employed by the immediate-past PDP administration were relieved of their jobs immediately Governor Fayemi assumed office, apart from others who were either demoted, forced to retire or redeployed to inconvenient places on phantom allegations.

"We, the disengaged EKSU staff, subsequently, dragged the university authorities to the National Industrial Court (NIC) in Akure, got a judgment nullifying our sack, but the APC government has refused to obey the court judgment till date.

"The court, through the judge, Justice K. D. Damulak, had, on January 28, 2021, in suit No NCN/AK/06/2020, gave a declaration that the disengagement of all the named and unnamed claimants from their appointments via letters of 5th December, 2019 is illegal, null and void.

"An order reinstating all the named and unnamed claimants to their appointment or employment with the payment of their salaries and allowances from the date of the disengagement to the date of judgment and thereafter.

"An order directing the defendant to pay the claimants the three months salaries of the claims which remains unpaid by the defendant.

"These workers who have been treated like animal by the Fayemi-led administration are now being begged by the APC to vote for its candidate. Is that possible? We have not been able to feed our families. Some marriages have broken down and many families scattered.

"We don't want to gamble and we appeal to all the Ekiti voters not to gamble. The Ekiti PDP as well has outlived its usefulness; it is now an abracadabra party that cannot be trusted again with power. We are going for Segun Oni who the generality of Ekiti people have preferred as their governor, due to his unsoiled name.

"Some of us have even died of hunger and sickness; yet, Governor Fayemi pretended not to see us. It is a slap on our face, if this same governor is now coming to tell us to vote for his candidate.

“Supposing we have all died before now; is it our corpses that he would call to vote for his candidate? Perhaps, the APC government forgot to understand that we have husbands, wives, children, dependants and family members who have been terribly injured by Fayemi and we are going to use our numerical strength to vote for Segun Oni and humiliate Fayemi and his candidate.”

Ekiti Guber Poll: Gale of Defections in Ekiti APC, PDP,  Signpost Of Rejection- Group |Ojaomonews

......Oni's name attracts Ekiti people

An internationally acclaimed political and pressure group, Ekiti Build Back Better(EBBB), has described the gale of defections hitting the All Progressives Congress and the People's Democratic Party in Ekiti State as a confirmation of former Governor Segun Oni's popularity  ahead of the June 18 governorship election.

The group said while many people perceived to be dyed-in-the-wool  confidants and appointees of governor Kayode Fayemi had joined Oni-led Social Democratic Party, that the PDP has become so emasculated and emptied  to the point that the party is nearing extinction in the state on account of Oni's influence.

The spokesman of the group, Idowu Adelusi, said this in a statement he made available to journalists  in Ado Ekiti, on Monday.

Adelusi said Oni has become a movement in Ekiti politics  that all politicians are struggling to hobnob with, boasting that the two hitherto strong parties in Ekiti- APC and PDP would lose in the June 18 poll.

The EBBB chieftain  revealed that many of those parading themselves as backers of APC and PDP governorship candidates; Biodun Oyebanji and Bisi Kolawole respectively are rooting for Oni and that this would reflect in the outcome of the poll.

Adelusi said the joining of the SDP by these politicians was not borne out of desperation for positions and relevance, but for the fact that the entire Ekiti people are already disillusioned with deception and massive looting of Ekiti by these wicked politicians.

"APC and PDP are  gradually being emptied on daily basis with the way their bigwigs are coalescing with Segun Oni's SDP in droves. Oni is now like a magnetic force attracting every  politician in Ekiti.

"As of now, notable PDP politicians like former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Pastor Kola Oluwawole; a former Assembly member, Olayode Omotoso; Chief Bola Olu-Ojo, former State Chairman; Chief Idowu Faleye, former State Chairman;
Chief Segun Akinwumi, former State Commissioner; Mr Jackson Adebayo, former State Publicity Secretary of PDP and Mrs Abiola Olukayode-Ajayi, former chairman, Ikole Local Government.

"Others are Mr Owoseni Ajayi, former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice;
Mr Obafemi Adewale (SAN), former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice;
Chief Dipo Anisulowo, former Chief of Staff to the former governor;
Mr Kayode Oso, former Commissioner for Works and Alhaji Dauda Ajise; former Special Adviser on Political Matters.

"The list also include former Nigeria's Ambassador to Canada, Dare Bejide; Mr Dapo Lagunju, former State ALGON Chairman;  Princess Titi Owolabi, former Assembly member, the list also include former local government chairmen, former PDP local government chairmen, secretaries, the executive members, and as well majority of former National Assembly and Ekiti State House of Assembly members in both PDP and APC."

Speaking about how SDP had given the ruling APC a  bloodied nose , Adelusi said : "Only recently, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Fayemi on Electoral Matters, Olaiya Kupolati; an APC chieftain, Mr. Olowoyo, and  Fayemi's ex-Special Assistant on Security, Deji Adesokan and others also defected to SDP.

"So, as we speak, the PDP and APC are empty and pose no threat to Segun Oni in the coming election coupled with the invincible backing the former governor is getting from apolitical Ekiti people, makes victory sure for SDP in the coming election".

Adelusi told the ruling party that Ekiti people are more than determined to stop underhand plans being made to rig the election, having realised that their party is no longer popular among the masses.

"The Ekiti people is hereby telling the APC leadership, the security and the INEC that they want a very transparent election, nothing less than that in order to avoid a repeat of the unfortunate 1983 scenario of old Ondo State.
"Ekiti people would display that day that the power of the people cannot be subjugated by greedy and unpopular power seekers", Adelusi said.

Nyesom Wike Gives Condition To Withdraw From The Presidential Race|Ojaomonews

Published by Ojaomonews.com

March 29, 2022

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has announced his intention to withdraw from the presidential election if the People's Democratic Party zones the presidential ticket to the north.

The PDP recently established a 37-member group to develop a party zoning arrangement.

Gov. Wike stated on Channels TV on Monday that he will "abide" by the party's stand on the zoning system.

He did, however, express his opposition to the PDP's request that zoning be abandoned.

The Governor stated that the position of the party's constitution in "Section 7 sub 3c" regarding presidential office rotation is unambiguous.

He stated that party members should be able to speak the truth.

"People should be sincere and adhere to the constitution's provisions," he stated.

"It makes no difference because you believe that this is my time and that I will win, so let us abandon all other arrangements."

Gov. Wike, on the other hand, stated that he is not running for president on the basis of zoning but rather on the basis of his "competence."

Additionally, the governor stated that it is unjust to assert that the southern candidate will be unable to win the presidential election in 2023.

Ekiti 2022 -SDP Alleged APC For Planning Mayhem Ahead June 18 Guber Poll |Ojaomonews
March 27, 2022

Ahead of the June governorship election in Ekiti State, the Segun Oni Movements has accused the the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) of planning to unleash terror on the people of the state especially members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)

The group said that APC singled out members of the Segun Oni's Social Democratic Party because of it's rising profile that has suddenly made it the party to beat in the forthcoming Election in the state.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday by the Director of Media and Publicity, Segun Oni Movements, Mr Jackson Adebayo.

He explained that the leadership of the APC met with Governor Kayode Fayemi at the government house shortly before the national convention of their party where the defection of some prominent members of the party to the Social Democratic Party was review and came out with the decision to change their strategy to physical attack of the opposition SDP meetings whenever it holds.

According to Adebayo, the conclusion on adoption of mayhem was at the expression of worry by the State governor on what he described as weakling posture of the party in the state in few weeks to the election.

It was added that the Governor complained that the executives of the APC have become so docile to the extent that in some local government areas, the party has becomes shamelessly deflated as members even dissolved into the SDP in droves.

Adebayo further explained that it was at this stage the leadership of the party became resolute to apply the strategy of attacking any where the SDP is holding meetings with their thugs while the coordination of the activities of the thugs was assigned to the office of the Chief of staff to the governor.

Adebayo stressed that part of the plan also was to be attacking individuals they believe is a leader in the SDP accross the sixteen local government areas in other to create a situation where members of the party would not be able to gather for meetings again with the assignment of carrying out this placed on the table of the Council chairman of the individuals local government and LCDA.

He noted that those who attended the meeting who advised against the operation were vehemently rebuked and threatened to be sent out of the meeting while some were accused of working with SDP to undermine the governor.

The Segun Oni Movements said that it's pertinent to raise this alarm at this particular time because the APC and violence are just like six and half dozen and that has been their antecedents especially when they sensed that the people are not with them anymore.

" We shall not however fold our arms if they make real their ingenious and barbaric plan as nobody is endowed with the monopoly of violence but we call on the traditional rulers in all the local government areas to call the leaders of the APC in their Areas to order as any attempt to try to execute their ignoble plans will spell doom."

"At the same time we call on the State Commissioner of Police , the Director of the Department of State Services and the heads of other security agencies to warn the leadership of the APC to stop their plans of destruction before it's too late."

•••Says he's the best man to wrest power from APC

Rivers State Governor, Nyeson Wike has declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying he is the best man to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ojaomonews.com gathered that, Gov. Wike stated it when he visited his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom at the Government House in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on Sunday said he was making his intention to contest for presidency known for the first time in Benue.

God is with us that’s why APC keeps failing everyday.”

The Presidential hopeful who urged stakeholders to give him their mandates and not to sell their votes, assured that he has the capacity to, “face this evil government.

“He queried those founding fathers who ran away from the party and still want to be recognised, saying, ” by the time you ran away, you sold your share as a founding father so you can no longer retain your position of founding fathers.

“I stood for this party. I work for this party since 1998. I have nowhere to run to and that’s why anything that happens to this party I take personally. I have never relented.

NGO Launches Free Medical Outreach For Ogotun People In Ekiti State|Ojaomonews

A Non Governmental Organization, Femimoniolu Foundations has launched a free medical outreach for the people of Ogotun Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government.

The initiative which was the first major project of the new NGO had medical experts on ground to educate, check up their blood pressure, Malaria parasite, sugar level etc, as they prescribed and distributed drugs as well as referred people for a better health care.

A medical personnel Mr Segun Oni who enlightened hundreds of residents on how best to manage their health, most especially those above fifty years emphasized the need to prevent some terminal diseases.

Speaking on Diabetes management, he said it was very important to watch their food intake, do regular exercise, changing their life style for better health as well as regular check ups of their blood sugar.

The founder of the Femimoniolu foundation, Mr Babatunde Oluwasinmirin who explained that the initiative was part of the activities meant for his father’s Burial, Pa Olufemi Oluwasinmirin observed that many cases of death could have been prevented if the victims had been well informed of how best to manage the situations.

In his words “FEMIMONIOLU foundation is about sustaining lives. We discovered even though some terminal diseases are incurable, but some cases of death are preventable. One of the ways to this is early diagnosis. In this part of the world, people don’t go to the hospital when they are not sick. This is a mentality that we must correct and in most cases people fail to live a very good healthy lifestyle.

This may not totally be their faults because in a community where people live on less than 2 dollars per day, they will not be able to afford regular medical checkups of about 5dollars. We have given and trained the people how to use some basic facilities such as sphygmomanometer and glucomter to check up on their own without necessarily needing any assistance. This is to erase the concerns for time and money”.

Mr Tunde Oluwasinmirin noted that the program would be continuos as the foundation had partnered with the Basic Health Centres and pharmarceutical outfits in the area to ensure free health service delivery on the bill of the foundation.

Femimoniolu founder further explained ” although, this is not our first humanitarian service, we have been rendering assistance through scholarship and bursary to Ogotun students, but this time we decided to face health because I lost my mother Monisola Oluwasinmirin to cancer and my father Olufemi Oluwasinmirin to blood pressure complications.

When people came to sympathize with us for the demise of my father, we decideded to check their blood pressure. Many people were noted above 180, 200 and above BP. This is killing and most people are working corpses. Specifically, we believe that the elderlies need more attention because they have laboured and we want them to eat the fruits of their labours. This is not going to be limited to Ogotun Ekiti but as we know, charity begins at home. We have a mission where every household in Ekiti state has access to free health care delivery.

The Simblings of Femimoniolu, Mrs Funmilola Alagbola ad Sola Oluwasinmirint explained that the foundation was named after their late parents hence the need to support the founder at achieving the goals.

Some of the beneficiaries including Pa Oluwasola Joel, Mrs Alice Agboola, and Mrs Odeusi Kemisola among others described Mr Tunde Olumide Oluwasinmirin as a philantropist who had from his childhood loved to render humanitarian services.

“We thank him very much, he has Ben a star in this town. He has Ben helping our children through his involvement in Ogotun scholarship scheme and now it is medical outreach. We can only pray for him that he continues to grow higher. The apple did no fall far from the tree, these are the ways of his parents and he has chosen to follow and lay a more solid legacy.”

Workers on warning strike at Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti - Total strike imminent |Ojaomonews

Total Union Executives of Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti held a meeting with the School Management on Friday the 18th of March. The meeting seemed to have ended in stalemate as the Union through her Chairman,  Engr. Adubi frawned at the redeployment of 2 of their members from BAM Department where such  move is comsidered unjust and a sort of witch-hunting by the management.

The School management was thereby given 3 weeks ultimatum to reverse this erroneous act, meanwhile,  after the debriefing, the Congress resolved there should be an immediate activation of work-to-rule tactic where all members will sit at their various offices and won't go for lectures and they won't attend any academic activities until the letters are withdrawn.

"The 21 days ultimatum starts instantly and any further delay or recalcitrant dumbheadedness by the management, the union will be left with no other option than to withdraw the service of her members" the Chairman said.

Segun Oni Paraded the Best Education Policy in Ekiti History, Says Group |Ojaomonews

A group under the banner of Ekiti Build Back Better, has described the education policy of the  former Governor Segun Oni as the best radical approach ever taken to reignite the education sector in the state.

The group said Ekiti witnessed radical upliftment of the education under Oni's administration, saying such would be reignited if reelected on June 18 governorship election in the state.

The group's spokesman, Mr Idowu Adelusi , said this in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Monday, saluting the Oni's thoroughness and dedication to education and why he worths being  reelected as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Catalagoing those lofty soul-lifting policies reeled out by Oni in Ekiti in his first term, Adelusi posited that the stablishment of The University of Education, Ikere Ekiti and University of Science and Technology, Ifaki Ekiti helped in expanding the educational frontiers to meet the yearnings of the citizenry in the areas of Teachibg, Science and Technology.

"Considering the rate and the standard at which the two  universities were growing under the Segun Oni’s government, both institutions could have ranked among the best Universities in Nigeria and internationally today, if they have not been unduly closed down".

Pooh-poohing the reason adduced by Fayemi for the merger, Adelusi maintained that while the two  Universities were being steadily developed under Oni's administration, that EKSU then and all other higher institutions were neither neglected not underfunded.

Too buoy educational sector and make Ekiti the cynosure of all eyes in the area of scholarship globally, Adelusi said  Oni facilitated a collaboration with a South Korean University for a 2-Year Free Students Exchange Programme and for the University to Build a 3-in-1 Standard Laboratory Complex for USTI.

"Arrangements were already made with 30 high flying Second year students from various Departments in USTI to South Korea for a 2-Year Students Exchange Program and for work to commence on a 3-in-1 Standard Laboratory Project".

Adelusi applauded the former governor for reignited compulsory Boarding system in public secondary schools with generating sets and modern Internet facilities provided to give comfort to boarders.

In a bid to make Ekiti school entrepreneurial-compliant and tackled unemployment, Adelusi said Oni introduced production of breads, poultry, exercise books and school chalks in public secondary schools; through which students could make a living and become employers of labour after leaving school.

"He awarded Adequate and Sustainable Scholarships and Bursaries Ranging from N50, 000 to N1.5m  to all qualified Ekiti Students In  higher Institutions of Learning both at home and abroad, from OND up to the Ph.D level.

"He purchased free JAMB Forms and provided three Months free coaching for prospective candidates 2 Years Before He Became Governor and Throughout His Tenure in Office.

"Several Youths were also prepared for and put on Free Educational Trainings in Oversea Countries such as Portugal, before, during and even after he became Governor and some up to now", he stated.

I'll secure, utilize Ekiti resources better for development, says Oni |Ojaomonews

...He ran most transparent govt in Ekiti' -Ex-BPP boss

March 22, 2022

As the campaign for election into the Ekiti State number seat formally kicked off last Sunday, a former state governor and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, has said if he is elected, he will secure the resources of the state, utilise it to grow the state better than what his predecessors had done.

In another development, a United State of America (USA)-trained Sociologist and Public Procurement expert, Dr Bayo Arowolaju, who was Special Adviser on Due Process and Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), said the Segun Oni-led administration was the most transparent and focused in the political history of the Fountain Knowledge State.

Oni, who was responding to questions by the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), led by its spokesman, Idowu Adelusi, at his Ifaki Ekiti country home, on Tuesday, reiterated that he was not looking for what to eat and neither was he desperate to come for a second term.
He said rather, he was moved out of pity for the impoverished Ekiti people who insisted that he ought to come out to free them from servitude.

Oni said while in office, he ran a transparent government, managed the state's resources well to develop the state and that he left no debt for his successor.

Reiterating the financial prudence of Oni-led administration, the former BPP boss said, "neither the former governor nor any member of his cabinet was ever invited for questioning by either the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). There wasn't also any record of other investigation agency of the government inviting a government agents for questioning.

"This was due to the proper implementation of the processes and procedures of public procurement mechanisms and the determination of Oni to judiciously deploy the meagre resources of the state to grow it economically, socially and politically," Arowolaju said.

The BPP boss said Oni did not borrow a dime from anywhere throughout his tenure as Ekiti State governor, adding that he left over N10 billion in government's coffers, plus two months federal allocations and security votes.

All these, Arowolaju said, were left for the Kayode Fayemi-led administration "that used the judiciary to remove Oni from office."

Responding to a question on his schedule of duty, Arowolaju said, "my office was to ensure transparency, integrity openness and timelines in the public procurements of goods, works and services, including consultancies without sacrificing quality.

"All procurements were vetted and scrutinised to ensure that they met all the due process of laws before the certificate of award signed by me was issued to the awarding MDAs, as my office did not award contracts."

When asked if his palms were greased by contractors to pave the way for easy approval of papers, Arowolaju said, "there was no room for the contractors and I could not interact with them.

"I didn’t know them. I only worked on their papers like BOQs and qualifications for the job they were applying for.
"Every ministry, department and agency (MDA) of the state was trained in the processes and procedures of the procurement mechanisms and lapses and lack of due process in any form or shape not tolerated.

"To back that up, a law was enacted by the State House of Assembly to give teeth to the system."

He also described Oni as "a honest, transparent and incorruptible gentleman with high level integrity and with his life centered on improving Ekiti State and making the lives of the people better," saying that Ekiti would have been better off economically, socially and politically, if his administration had not been removed courtesy of 'the Salamigate judgement.'

Arowolaju said during the time of Oni, the local governments in Ekiti got their revenue allocations as sent from Abuja without the state government tampering with them, "which is what local government autonomy is chiefly about.

"Oni still believes that the revenue coming from Abuja for the Ekiti local governments will still be sufficient for the running and development of the third tier of government, including the newly-created local council development areas (LCDAs)."

Arowolaju continued that "the local government autonomy, which the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government could not achieve in almost seven years in office was what Oni did within three years in office as governor and also granted same autonomy to the legislative and judicial arms of the Ekiti State government. But the Fayemi-led government cancelled everything.

"The same good governance was extended to all other sectors of the Ekiti people. That is why the difference is now clear between Segun Oni, the candidate of the Ekiti people, and the stooges of Fayemi and Fayose who may be seeking a third term for their sponsors and bosses," Arowolaju submitted.

Ekiti 2022: Oni never sacked workers -Ex-SSG, Bejide|Ojaomonews

...Says unlike former Ekiti governors, he employed 4,000

Former Secretary to the Ekiti State Government (SSG) under the first term administration of former Governor Segun Oni and erstwhile Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada, Mr Dare Bejide, has said that former governor Oni did not sack any of the workers employed by the Niyi Adebayo and Ayo Fayose-led administrations before his, a clear departure from the policies of his successors.

Bejide, who stated this in an exclusive interview with the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), an international pan-Ekiti movement campaigning for the election of Asiwaju Segun Oni in the Saturday, June 18, governorship election, said his former boss, who he described as humane personified, human capital development expert and administrator per excellence, believed that the state's revenue was quite sufficient to pay the monthly workers' salaries and the pensioners' entitlements, as well as grow the economy of the state, if properly utilised.

According to a press release issued by Idowu Adelusi, the spokesman of the group in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, Mr Bejide said the former governor, who is contesting on the ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), employed additional 4,000 people into the service without any of them going through any godfather.

His words: "Direct employment of young people into the civil service took place.  Over 4,000 new employment were made without going through any godfather.

"There were many vacancies, because the civil servants were willing to retire because of the prospect of getting their gratuity within three months of retirement.

"The government provided microcredit facilities to farmers, artisans and young graduates,  introduced local content policy that compelled contractors to employ local people in their companies.

"The government also collaborated with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) for skill acquisition for the youths and, thus, provided alternative means of employment.

"The government also made farming more attractive by providing enabling facilities in the rural areas, thus, reducing rural-urban migration, youth unemployment and discouraging the youths engaging in nefarious activities which are prevalent now.

"The state government also brought in experts to train the youths in sporting activities. Some of the youths later became national stars.

"Segun Oni did not engage in illegal sacking of workers, whether in the civil service, the tertiary institutions or the local government. He did not indiscriminately dissolve statutory boards; all the board members, particularly in the statutory boards, enjoyed their tenures without any inhibition."

Bejide described Oni as a democratic who believed in the rule of law and not the rule of thumb like some former governors who almost turned the state upside down for their selfish reasons.

He, therefore, called on the Ekiti people, the workers, pensioners, artisans, teachers, market women, students and traders to vote for Oni to become their governor for a better Ekiti State.

Hon. Helen Taiwo Adebakin is a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). She is the Secretary of the former and serving National ex Officio Forum of the PDP.

In this Exclusive interview with CLIFFORD EJENAVI, the Oyo State born politician bares her mind on sundry issues of governance, women inclusion in political leadership and hope for Nigeria.

Excerpts:

Hon. Helen Taiwo Adebakin as a panelist at a programme held in Abuja recently
What encouraged you to go into politics and what has been your experience for you so far?

The desire to make impact in the nation building, assist the less privileged members of the society and the marginalised were the motivating factors for me. I believe politics offer a broader opportunity where one can make positive impact on the lives of the downtrodden.

With the active participation of some us in politics, the men are beginning to realize that women cannot just be relegated to the background or restrained to the kitchen.

At a point from 1999, we saw women participation in politics but the trend suddenly dropped. What do you think is responsible?

It is quite unfortunate and a big shame to us as a nation. I think the National Assembly needs to change its anti-gender posture. Let the lawmakers revisit all gender Bill recently rejected. Women groups should be more united in their advocacy for gender inclusion and women mainstreaming in governance. Above all, women must take advantage of their voting strength to deepen their political networks. Women should not wait until men show them the direction to follow. Let them show capacity for leadership. One of the factors responsible for this is the pulling down attitude of some women against their colleagues in leadership positions. Women who excelled in their chosen careers should be role models and mentor the younger ones.

What do you have to say about the Nigerian Constitution? Some people claim the real problem of Nigeria is the Constitution. They believe the current Constitution cannot bring development to the country.

I don’t think the constitution is our problem. If we want to be sincere with ourselves. The major problem is our negative attitudes to national issues. We have the challenge of bad leadership and followership. Every nation gets a leader it deserves. We cannot all be indulging in corrupt practices and expect saints to lead us as a people.

If we are sincere and honest with ourselves, the current constitution can bring about the much-needed development.

What can you say about the issue of restructuring or call for Sovereign National Conference for a new Constitution?

You see when there is a failure of leadership, people will continue to come up with all manner of agitations. The people are frustrated already. So, if the system is working, nobody will talk about all these big grammars. We have had several National Conferences, what was the result?

You’re working with the woman leader of the PDP, what are you doing currently to encourage more women in politics?

What I am trying to do basically is to demonstrate my capacity as a woman. And I think this is one important culture women need to imbibe. We must always prove to men that we are equal to the task, if not better. Before now, I had led many advocacies aimed at given women more space, particularly in our party (PDP). It is on record that I was the first person to challenge the seeming lopsidedness in the lineup of the National Executive Council of our party. And anywhere I found myself, I try to speak for women. But it is very sad women now seemed to be their own enemies nowadays.

What can you say about the APC led-federal government since 2015 considering the current reality across the country?

To say that the APC government is a big disappointment to Nigerians would be an understatement, in fact, it is a disaster. Where do we want to start from? The effect of this bad governance is being felt in every sector of our economy. The economy is in deep mess and near collapse. The security architecture has collapsed with scores being mercilessly slaughtered by bandits or ritualists. What is even left for us to talk about as a nation? I pray that this people will not end the entity called Nigeria. Because the situation is deteriorating day by day and which is why Nigerians are yearning for return of the PDP into power. Nigerians have seen the difference now and I don’t think they would want to tread this dangerous path again.

Hon. Helen Taiwo Adebakin
There seems to be cracks on the wall of PDP now, with this in mind, do you see the party coming to power in 2023?

I don’t believe there is a crack. But I will agree with you if you say there were misunderstandings which is normal in every setting or political parties. There would be need to argue on issues but at the at end of the day we arrive at a common ground. Nobody ever believe the PDP could have a rancour-free national convention which produced the present crop of leaders being led by our amiable National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu. I want to assure you that the PDP Presidential Primaries would be rancour free too.

Do you have confidence in INEC to conduct free and fair elections come 2023 and what is your expectation from INEC before, during and after the elections?

The PDP as a party shall compel INEC to do the right thing on the issues relating to the general elections. We shall put the electoral umpire on its toe. The 2023 Presidential is very crucial to us as a nation and this is when Nigerians shall choose whether to end the current sufferings or live with it perpetually.

In a nut shell, we expect the INEC to do the right thing by conducting free fair and credible elections that will be acceptable to all stakeholders.

For equity and fairness, what do you have to say about South-East producing the next President of Nigeria considering the fact that no one from the South-East has govern this country in the history of Nigeria?

Politics is about negotiation and I am sure the highest hierarchy of our party is handling all issues pertaining to elections, zoning and power sharing. I am sure they would come out with a position on this.

There is insecurity everywhere; inflation is on the high; ASUU on strike; ritual killings on the rise; Nigerians are groaning, etc. What do you think is the way forward?

The way out is to have a responsible government. And you can only have a responsible government by returning PDP to power in Nigeria. Nigerians have given APC the opportunity and they mismanaged it.

What is your advice to Nigerians at this time of the country’s history?

My advice to Nigerians is for them not to lose hope yet. There is a solution in the corner and the solution will be to vote for PDP in 2023 Presidential election so that we can return to the good old days.

According to the commission’s spokesman, Obiano had been on the watchlist of the EFCC prior to the transition on Thursday.

Ekiti2022: Pensioners Threatened Popular Governorship Candidate|Ojaomonews

... We planned to trek and die, if Oni wouldn't contest governorship -Ekiti pensioners

Pensioners in Ekiti State, last February, backed down on their plan to stage a protest from Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, to the house of former governor of the state and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the coming election in the state, Asiwaju Segun Oni, at Ifaki-Ekiti, if the former governor should refuse to contest on another political party's ticket aside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday, June 18, election.

Some of the pensioners, led by Pa Suyi Ajayi and Chief Ayodele Omoyajowo, who disclosed this to the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), an international pan- Ekiti movement campaigning for the election of Asiwaju Segun Oni, said the refusal of the PDP leadership to consider Oni, who they had hoped as governor would pay all their backlog of  unpaid pensions, for the party's ticket, did not go down well with them.

According to the press release issued by the spokesman of the group, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, the pensioners said that when Oni was the governor of the state (2007 to 2010), he was able to pay all their entitlements which dated to the old Ondo State, adding that throughout his tenure, pensioners monthly allowance payments were regular.
"We did not suffer; but the succeeding administrations have impoverished the pensioners, because they didn't care if we were killed by hunger," they said.

Adelusi said the pensioners had planned to trek to Ifaki on Monday, February 7, but the former governor, who got wind of the plan, came out to dump the PDP on Saturday, February 5, and as well announced to Ekiti people that he would contest on a new party ticket to be announced soon.

Adelusi said the pensioners had allegedly sent a message to Oni that they would trek from Ado-Ekiti to his house in Ifaki-Ekiti and that if any of them should drop dead on the way, the former governor should prepare to bear cost of the burial.

Chief Ayodele Omoyajowo said, "it is true that we had planned to trek to Ifaki to ask Segun Oni to contest on another party's platform, since the PDP rigged him out.

"We, pensioners, are not happy at all, because it is Segun Oni we want to win the ticket. We don't  mind our ages; we don't mind if we die on the road. At least, Segun Oni will hear that some pensioners died on the road because of interest they have in him."

Fayemi Plotting  to Scrap LCDAs, Blames it on Oni |Ojaomonews

The Segun Oni Movements has accused the Governor of Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi of orchestrating a grand plan to scrap the Local Government Development Areas due to the mismanagement of the funds disbursed  for the purpose of running them and blame it on the former governor of the, Asiwaju Segun Oni.

The movements stated that the committee that mismanaged the local government funds was put in place by governor Fayemi early last year and  headed by the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr Biodun Oyebanji, under whom the fund was embezzled.

The Director of Media and Publicity, Segun Oni Movements, Mr Jackson Adebayo made this known in a statement he made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti.

He said that the APC government, in an attempt to cover the fraudulent track has decided to scrap the LCDAs .

Adebayo explained that the APC government resorted to this after it was discovered that the funds that the government had been deducting from the sixteen local government since 2019 for the purpose of funding the LCDAs had been mismanaged by the committee without any evidence that it had been disbursed to the LCDAs.

He maintained that it took the candidate of APC, Mr Oyebamiji and the wife of the governor two weeks to come out with the idea of manufacturing the lies that Segun Oni would scrap the Local Government Development Areas if he becomes the governor as an alibi for their planned scraping of the LCDAs.

The movements, however, stated that it was very unfortunate that the Governor and his party's candidate could stoop to the level of attaching their failure to an innocent person like Asiwaju Segun Oni, who was an apostle of a workable Local Government administration.

Adebayo stressed that at no time did the former governor Segun Oni made any statement that he would scrap the Local Government Development Areas, rather Oni has always been at the forefront of strengthening the Local Council Development Areas, hence, his contributions to the accommodation of the Isokan LCDA at Ifaki Ekiti.

Adebayo added that Segun Oni, is a known character synonymous with community development and grassroots emancipation, which had placed his tenure as governor in Ekiti State on the top.

"We want to say that  all Ekiti sons and daughters are witnesses to the lasting projects across the rural areas throughout the State during Segun Oni's short time as the governor of the state during the time the allocation to the local government would not be tampered with as opposed to what is the culture now."

Adebayo noted that Segun Oni was the first governor in Nigeria to  grant local government autonomy till date; same thing he did for the judiciary and the legislative arm of government during his tenure.

He said that part of the former governor's agenda, if elected,  is to create  more LCDAs and resolve any existing disputes over the insincerity of the present government.

Ogbomoso: My Account Of Stewardship ~~ Sanjo Adedoyin |Ojaomonews

... "I've done so much well for those that elected me".

The Lawmaker representing the people of Ogbomoso South Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin has given a report card of his representation of his constituent.

*Let’s meet you, Honourable*

“My name is Sanjo Adedoyin. I am the majority leader of the house, I represent the wonderful people of Ogbomoso South in Oyo State House of Assembly.

*Could you tell us, in the last three years, what you would say has been your achievements relates to bills, motions, and other duties as a legislator*?

To start with, I will say I have done the best I can as a Lawmaker in the hallowed chamber of Oyo State within the last three years and talking about my activities as an Assembly member, I will say to the glory of God, I have the number of motions and I am one of the leading members with highest number of bills in the hallowed chamber.

And I want to say that every legislator has three cardinal responsibilities, one is the act of law making, that is through motions, and bills and I want to say that I have done brilliantly well in that regard and possibly that might be the reason why I was elected and honoured with numerous awards.

Secondly, the core responsibility of a lawmaker has to do with representation. This is to ensure that your constituency gets fair representation in the sharing of the State cake. In this regard, I have also done brilliantly well because I have attracted some developments to my constituency and not only in terms of infrastructural developments. I have also helped in terms of employments into Oyo State Teaching Service Commission, Ministry of Education, and Agencies of government in Oyo State.

The third responsibility has to do with oversight functions at the committee level and in that regard I have also done greatly well but more importantly one will say there is room for improvement at all levels but I have been able to move reasonable bills since I got into the Chamber and also I have over countless number of motions.

*Distinguished Honourable, as you have rightly said, the cardinal responsibilities of a legislator is the act of law making, oversight functions and fair representation. Could you tell us, out of these bills and motions, which one would you say personally shows more representation for your people that elected you *?

One of the most important motion to me and always bring joy to me is the motion I raised and lobbyed during the reinstatement of the wrongly retrenched 170 Staffs of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso by the administration of Late Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi.

I want to say the motion is very important to me because it put end to the unemployment borden on government and settles public petition among my people.

Another is the Grazing Regulations Bill which am very passionate about because it has direct impact on my constituents.

*Politics they say is local, you have been representing your good people for over two years. What are your achievements to your people back home*?

I have influenced a number of employment at the state ministry of Education. I have attracted projects to my constituency spread across the towns and villages of the Ogbomoso south, rehabilitation of the school fence at Ahoyaya, erosion control and provision of drilled water at all the strategic areas in the constituency, infrastructure are here and there.

In terms of representation, I have done awesomely well! Also, I have done a lot of empowerment scheme and skill acquisition programs, relief materials distributed across and more than forty people in my constituency benefited in the tune of 60 thousand Naira each through the ministry of water resources.

Apart from that, I have given my constituency a voice. Today, if you ask who is the representative of Ogbomoso South, they will tell you it’s Sanjo Adedoyin (Sanjay) unlike before when they represent the constituency from the back seat. That is the voice that is needed, speaking for the voiceless and giving back to my people at when due.

*What can you say about the attacks from your political opponents and enemies of progress*?

Well, the attack was politically motivated, because of my numerous achievements. I got a rousing welcome aside the one been received each day in Ogbomoso South after commissioning some water projects. I know it angered the enemyof progress which mobilised for the attacked.

If I delivered all this project which triggered their hypocritical preceding, the praises and commendation will be on our administration. If I failed to deliver it, the shame and condemnation will keep following us. I’ve promised to keep a good name even after the office. I only respect men, I don’t fear them.

“I am championing an administrative cause. I will continue to commission project no matter how small it may and be the voice to the voiceless. I’m not deterred; I remain resolute to make Ogbomoso better. Noting will stop me.”

*In the next one and half year, you will be rounding up your tenure as the House of Assembly Representing Ogbomoso South. What should the people of Ogbomoso expect from you?*

The people of Ogbomoso not south alone should expect more programmes and laudable projects and the man who has passed his exams demands promotion. With all of these, I deserve a promotion.

Hon Sanjo Adedoyin granted the interview while speaking with his constituent and anchored by Michael Falade.

Ekiti 2022: Fayemi shops for N12bn loan to pay outstanding workers salaries -Group|Ojaomonews

...woos workers for Oyebanji

....woos workers for Oyebanji

Ekiti State governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, has decided to push the state further into the abyss of debt as his government has allegedly indicated interest to borrow N12 billion to pay outstanding workers' salary arrears purposely to woo them to vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.

The Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), an international pan-Ekiti movement, campaigning for the election of Asiwaju Segun Oni, disclosed this in a press release issued by its spokesman, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.

According to Adelusi, Governor Fayemi allegedly summoned emergency meeting of the APC bigwigs and government officials to Ishan-Ekiti penultimate Sunday to deliberate over the entry of Segun Oni to the state whose long motorcade and the large turnout of people that welcomed him was unprecedented, and, of course, most embarrassing to the ruling party and the governor himself.

According to an inside source, the governor, who presided over the meeting, had asked the people in Yoruba, "kilo nlo ni gboro?" meaning, "what is going on in the town?"

The people at the meeting allegedly told the governor the plain truth that the majority of Ekiti people, including the workers, have decided to follow Segun Oni.

A particular APC leader allegedly told the governor, "Your Excellency, the town is not smiling at all, to make the matter worse, the workers will capitalise on nonpayment of outstanding salary arrears and entitlements of the pensioners not to support our candidate."

Thereafter, the governor asked what could be done to arrest the situation and the people advised the government to look for money anywhere to pay the salary arrears and pensioners' entitlements before the election which the governor has accepted.

However, some of those who attended the meeting doubted if the step to be taken could hold water saying, "the workers and pensioners have lost faith in the APC government, due to many failed promises since 2018 when this administration came into power."

They stressed further that "the workers would think if not because the governorship election was around the corner, the government would not contemplate paying what it is owing to the workers."
