PDP Panel Disqualified Two Presidential Aspirants |Ojaomonews

Published by Ojaomonews.com

Two unnamed presidential aspirants have been disqualified from contesting the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The chairman of the PDP Screening Committee and former President of the Senate, David Mark, disclosed this at the end of the Screening Exercise in Abuja on Friday.

He said the aspirants were disqualified because they did not meet the requirements to partake in the contest.

Mark declined to give the names of those involved.

He also announced that the remaining presidential aspirants in the race have been cleared, noting that any one of them who becomes the main opposition party presidential flag bearer would win the 2023 election.

Dumping PDP is Suicide; Chief Ogunrinde Reiterate Commitment To The Projects Of PDP.

...I REMAIN IN PDP; CHIEF ADEOLA OGUNRINDE

By Freedom Siasia; Friday 29, 2022.

A stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State and National PDP Ex-Officio, Chief Ogunrinde,  has denied news making the rounds that he has dump the party for the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

This came against the backdrop of the recent decamping of the former governor of the state, Asiwaju Segun Oni, his age friend and political ally from Ido-Osi LG of Ekiti. He said he never considered dumping PDP.

Ogunrinde, who is the National Ex Officio of the party, described the story as ”mere political gimmicks and scandals by rumour peddlers” who are bent on denting his high rising political image.

According to him, “While Engr Oni has deemed it necessary to dumped PDP for SDP, which is his right according to Section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution, it is sacrosanct to reiterate my commitment to PDP and the administration of the National Chairman, Dr Iyiochia Ayu, and the Southwest Chairman, Hon Soji Adagunodo.‘‘

Speaking further, Ogunrinde said: “Those of us who are in politics should learn how to play politics as politics and not as a war, at the end of every political process so that we can come together and support whoever by divine providence God has made to be there.

“In Nigeria what we know especially at the national level is a change of government through coups. And at the end of that coup whether the coup succeeds or not both parties live as enemies. Sometimes they stay as enemies till they die.

“But our democratic process is recognised by law. So we the modern-day politicians should not begin to practice democracy and contestation to power as if we are organizing a coup.

“I want to thank our Governor General , Engr. Seyi makinde for opening his hands and welcoming every Southwest zone irrespective of the divide. He added”.

May Day: Ekiti workers poise for show down with government over unfulfilled promises -Group|Ojaomonews

... Celebration may be cancelled

...Fayemi dangles last minute carrots
Contrary to assurances given by the Ekiti State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joshua Olatunde Kolapo, that the May Day celebration will hold in the state on May 1, the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB) said it has gathered authoritatively that the celebration may not hold, after all, "as the state's workers are poised for a showdown with the government."

The group said the "anguish and distrust" between the labour and the John Kayode Fayemi-administration, which led to the cancellation of the May Day celebration in the state last year had persisted and even grown worse.

EBBB further gathered that Governor Kayode Fayemi, in order to stop the plan by the workers to embarrass him should he decide to attend the rally which is the last for his administration to witness, had promised to give financial backing to 2017 and 2018 promotions; pay one year leave bonus out of the four years; and probably pay part of the unpaid salaries.

It was learnt that findings by the EBBB, a pro-Segun Oni Campaign Organisation group, revealed that the workers were angry over the unfulfilled promises of Governor Fayemi to them since he assumed office in October 2018, querying the sense in filing out in a parade to salute the government.

The group said the workers have asked: "What are we to celebrate? Is it poverty, hunger, unfulfilled promises, unpaid salaries, unpaid four-year leave bonuses, promotion without financial backing or are our leaders saying we should parade to salute this government for denying us our benefits?

"If we do that, we are bunch of morons."
According to the spokesman of the group, Idowu Adelusi, in a press statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Thursday, "the government gave money to the labour leaders last year for the May Day celebration.

Uniforms and souvenirs had been bought.
"However, the labour leaders advised the government to cancel the programme when it became obvious to the leaders that the workers had concluded to use the rally to embarrass the government."

EBBB added that so far, the relationship between the workers and the government had grown worse, prompting majority of the workers to decide not to vote for the anointed candidate of the state governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, who they perceive would continue with the "repressive policies of his godfather against the workers."

"The workers and pensioners have made up their minds to give their votes to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, who they have rated as workers and pensioners friendly, due to what he did for them during his first term administration."

Adelusi said the group gathered that if the rally would hold,  the governor might not attend it, but probably send a representative, due to a security report that the workers were poised for a showdown with the government.

"The workers have accused the governor of impoverishing them, rating his administration as the worst in the history of the state, queuing behind Niyi Adebayo's administration which had cited zero allocation from Abuja as a reason for owing the local government workers many months of salary arrears," he said.

Didier Drogba Lost the Ivorian Football Federation Presidential Elections

  • Didier Drogba competed in the Ivorian Football Federation presidential elections with two other candidates but was booted out of the contest after the first round
  • The Premier League Hall of Famer, the first African to attain this accolade, mustered a paltry 21 votes out of 131 votes cast
  • But veteran Ivorian journalist has provided explanations as to why Drogba failed to walk in the footsteps of Samuel Eto'o, who has transitioned from footballer to highest football administrative role in Cameroon

Ivorian and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba was dealt a crushing blow to his presidential aspirations following his loss in the recently held Ivorian Football Federation presidential elections last Saturday.

The former skipper of the Ivory Coast was tipped to follow in the footsteps of four-time African footballer of the year, Samuel Eto'o. However, what ensued in the elections did not go according to the scripts with Drogba suffering a loss in the first round of the elections.

Drogba garnered 21 votes out of 131 votes cast (16.03% of the total votes), a far cry from his opponents, Sory Diabaté and Yacine Diallo, who emerged as the eventual winner after the second round of votes.

Reasons, Didier Drogba, Ivorian Football Federation, Presidential Elections, Explained

But making meaning out of Drogba's loss is experienced Ivorian sports journalist Mamadou Gaye believes the Chelsea legend did not endear himself to the constituents.

“This the guy who never lived in Cote d’Ivoire in all those years. He just comes and plays and goes back to France,” Gaye said.
“Most of the other African players like Eto’o and Sadio Mane understand what the African culture means. They did a lot for their villages, they left a legacy in their villages."

Gaye stressed Drogba, who was the first African to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, was rejected by his own people.

“The first team to come out publicly to say they will not be voting for Didier Drogba was a club from his village. Then the Professional Footballers Association of Cote d’Ivoire, which Drogba helped to form, also turned their back on him."
“Now, if your football family and your physical family both reject you, by what miracle are you going to win?” he quizzed.

Drogba loses Ivorian Football Federation elections

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chelsea icon Didier Drogba has failed in his bid to become the president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).

Drogba had thrown his hat in the ring earlier in April as he sought to walk in the footsteps of Cameroonian football legend, Samuel Eto'o.

However, the legendary striker was not considered for the position as he lost in the Saturday, April 23, elections.

Ekiti Poll: Don't turn Ekiti into bandits' den, group warns Fayemi|Ojaomonews

...says drivers, okada operators not Partisans
A group, Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB) has warned Governor Kayode Fayemi against importing bandits into the state ahead of the June 18 governorship poll, saying the fallout of such dastardly act done in 2015 to influence the presidential poll has dealt a great blow to the nation.

The group also said the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its leaders should stop their desperation to rig the coming polls, as the people of the state have make up their minds to vote the party out in the election.

The EBBB, a group working in support of Asiwaju  Segun Oni, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the coming election, added that Oni is undoubtedly the choice of the people of the state.

The group stated this in a statement on Monday by its spokesman, Mr Idowu Adelusi.
"As the Ekiti State Governorship Election draws near, the state governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi should not out of desperation to rig the June 18 governorship election for his anointed All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr Biodun Oyebamji, approve the importation of thugs, cultists and bandits into the state.

"Fayemi should learn lesson from what his party did in 2015 by importing bandits as voters from neighbouring countries to rig the presidential election, only for the bandits to stay back, formed terrorist gangs kidnapping and killing Nigerians since then," the group said.

It added that the security agencies in Ekiti should not fold their arms but to prevent the bandits, thugs, cultists, fake soldiers, fake police, fake voters and drivers from being imported into the state, less the state becomes like those states in the North where the bandits had settled after the 2015 election causing insecurity in the country.

Adelusi said that the state government had been boasting of having the control of the state money to fund the BAO Campaign Organisation  to cause mayhem, create fear, kill, maim and kidnap perceived opponents who are members and supporters of Oni, knowing well that the Ekiti people have rejected Oyebamji because the APC-led government has failed the people.

The spokesman said the new electoral law recently passed is an albatross to the APC which had always used fake police to scare voters and  snatch ballot boxes among other atrocities during elections.

He said the APC has been having secret meetings in Kogi, Ondo and in the state plotting to rig the election knowing well that its candidate cannot win the June 18 election.

Adelusi said the bitter experience of Ekiti people particularly the workers and pensioners in the hand of Fayemi administration informed the clarion call by the people for Oni to take over power, adding that majority of okada riders and drivers who are wearing BAO caps or putting its stickers on their vehicles and motorcycles are with Oni but playing along with the government so that they are not prevented from working.

The group told Fayemi to reflect and understand that God has been very kind to him and should therefore cooperate with the security agencies to have a peaceful free and fair election in the state.

Defection comment: Pro-Oni group berates Kolawole, PDP

... Says party has lost relevance

The Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), a group campaigning for the actualisation of the governorship ambition of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, in the coming Ekiti State governorship election, has reacted to the statement of Chief Bisi Kolawole, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, referring to Oni as a nomadic politician.

Kolawole, described as a former political boy of Oni, had on a radio programme last Tuesday in the state chided the defection of Oni from PDP to SDP, "after the compromised January 26 PDP primary election," describing the SDP candidate as a nomadic politician.

According to a press statement issued by the spokesman of the group, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Wednesday, the group lambasted Kolawole, telling him that "calling Oni a nomadic politician is like the pot calling the kettle black.  "If you want to see the original nomadic politician, it is in your backyard."

Adelusi said the decision and eventual movement of Oni to the SDP was not about himself, but the collective decision of the Ekiti people, explaining that "previous attempts at a third force in Ekiti failed because the situation then did not call for it."

He asserted that winning the election with the third force by Oni, and other contestants riding on the popularity of Oni to sweep the poll will surprise the likes of Kolawole in the PDP and APC.

Adelusi said Oni's ambition was the Ekiti people's project and that it was "thoroughly understood with the influx of supporters of Oni from the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the SDP, aside the army of supporters among government workers, pensioners, artisans, traders, teachers, professionals and students."

The group's spokesman asked: "When did the Ekiti PDP wake from its slumber? Has it been able to resolve the crisis bedeviling it? Any PDP ticket now is a mere tissue paper, because PDP has lost relevance, it is a spectator in the coming elections."

Ekiti Assembly Member, Hon. Aribisogan Speaks On His Attack|Ojaomonews

"They said I didn't give them Government Contracts, Employment and  Money As Leader of Government Business" - Aribisogan.

The Leader of Government Business at Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Olugboyega Aribisogan has said that he was attacked  by some youth in  Ward 3, Ikole Local government because of his position as the  "Leader of Government Business".

Reacting to a video that is being circulated by some people in the social media since yesterday, the lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 1 in Ekiti state House of Assembly said that the encounter was between him and some irate youths in the Ward  who attacked him because they  thought he was in charge of  government contracts, employment and money as the " Leader of Government  Business"
" It was an encounter between  me and some youth in  Ward 3 Ikole Local government area during my visit to the Ward to campaign for our Party's candidate Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO). They said they did not benefit any thing from me as someone in charge of government contracts, employment and all government businesses in the state. They accused me of not giving  out contract, employment letters and money to the youth.

They even compared  me with the State Commisioner for Finance and the National Assembly members saying that I  have not giving out vehicles, okada, and sewing machines. I tried to explain to them that the title has nothing with giving  out government contract or employment letters but they said it was not true. They said they are educated and they  know the meaning of  " Leader Government Business" and they started singing  all kinds of songs".

Aribisogan said that he was well received in the other four  Wards he had earlier visited and that no APC member molested or attacked him even though there were complaints  of low party patronage.

Asked whether the attack was sponsored by the opposition elements in the Ward, the lawmaker said he did not rule out sabotage from some of his political detractors in the area who are envious of his achievements as an experienced lawmaker.

" We are in the election season. You cannot but see all these because this is the time that political detractors usually  throw darts and jabs  at their perceived enemies. I know that the latest  media attack was sponsored by some aspirants who feel they can use this jejune video to score some political points. Unfortunately for them the race has just started. We'll meet on the field of play. The coming days shall be interesting.

Ekiti 2022: PDP, APC rigging plans revealed - Group
....As defection unsettles  parties, step up fear of SDP.

The gale of defection which has turned the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democrats Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a shadow of their former selves  is causing disquiet, distrust and cries among the remaining leaders and members of the two political parties.

Since last February many of the notable leaders and members of the two parties have been moving in droves to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to support the  ambition of the party's governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni.

Findings by the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), a pro-Segun Oni Campaign Organisation group,  unveiled panic measures being put in place, at least to impress their leaders in Abuja that they are still in existence to contest the Saturday June 18 governorship election in the state.

According to a press statement issued by Idowu Adelusi, the spokesman of the group in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, at the Weekend, "at the strategic meetings of the eggheads in APC and in PDP held recently, the two parties struggled to avoid, but inevitably admitted that they have lost the June election to the SDP already, even before the date of election.
"It was at this point that they concluded that they would not go down without fighting and they drew action plans.

"The first plan in the battle line of action drawn is to open cans of threat to defectors to serve as a deterrent to other would-be defectors. This is because more defectors are known to be waiting for the most auspicious time before taking a bow.

"Another suggestion is to lure the defectors and disenchanted members with tickets to elective positions in the state and national assemblies. Their greatest fear is with the looming success of Segun Oni and in Ekiti, a development they think might have a bandwagon effect on others and the national politics; such defections, they think, might be the beginning of the end of their political parties.

"The APC is planning  to use party agents and INEC adhoc staff from neighboring states like Osun, Ondo, Kogi, and Kwara which incidentally are all APC states and would be massively funded to serve their best interests.

"These, they hope, will be with the connivance of INEC, security officials, the military, money-bags, police, and paramilitary agencies, which they boast were under their influence.

"They plan using violence during voting, votes buying, and rigging. The APC also agreed to use the courts up to the Supreme Court as the last weapon, if other things failed.

"The APC candidate's  group has also targeted four local government areas with large supporters of Oni and the SDP, such as Ado, Ikole, Ikere and Ijero, planning to give each voter N10,000 to vote for the APC candidate.
"There was a hot argument over this, leading almost to a fight.

"The PDP is yet to know where and how to start their campaign, due to a protracted internal crisis generated by the rejection of Mrs. Funmilayo Oguns, the anointed candidate for the post of deputy governor, which is yet to be resolved.

"A confirmed source told the EBBB that the former governor who heads and controls the party in the state was yet to accept Mr. Kola Kolade as a replacement, notwithstanding the alleged firm loyalty of Kolade to him. The Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organisation has been starved for fund.
"These and many other things have reduced the PDP to a mere spectator in the coming election."

Group asks Ekiti NLC boss, Kolapo, to explain what workers gained from Fayemi|Ojaomonews

Published by Ojaomonews.com, April 14, 2022
...Knocks him for asking workers to support APC candidate

A pro-Segun Oni Campaign Organisation group, the Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), has challenged the Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) chairman, Mr. Joshua Olatunde Kolapo, to explain to the Ekiti people what the workers have benefited from the John Kayode Fayemi-led administration in the state, wondering what made him to pledge the support of the workers for election of Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Saturday, June 18, governorship election.

The NLC boss had, on Wednesday, April 7, at a programme organised to shore up the image of the APC candidate, said the Ekiti workers were grateful to Governor Kayode Fayemi and would in return vote for Oyebanji to win the election.

According to a press statement issued by the spokesman of EBBB, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Friday, Kolapo was asked to be bold enough to list the gains of the Fayemi-led administration to the workers since October 16, 2018 when the APC government came into being.

Adelusi asked: "Is it the sack of 2,000 workers employed into the civil service in 2018 or the sack of 400 workers employed into the civil, teaching and local government services in 2016, out of which less than one-third was reinstated eight months after?

"Or are we talking about the 700 staff of Ekiti State University (EKSU) employed in 2016 and sacked by the university on the instruction of the Fayemi-led government?

"Is it the promotion of workers since 2019 without financial backing till date that is a good deed by the government?

" Or is it some promotions done with mouth without record? Can we talk about the kangaroo examinations done for top civil servants which turned out to be high profile fraud?

"Is it the non-implementation of promotion letters of workers for 2017, 2018 and 2019, the non-implementation of leave bonus of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 payments?

"Are we talking about the non-implementation of minimum wage across the board and non-implementation of CONHESS allowance for health workers?

"The monthly cooperative deductiond have not been remitted to various cooperative societies for the past four months, so that contributors can access their money without hindrance.

"Above all, the APC government, which the NLC boss is praising, is owing the workers seven months unpaid salaries and the pensioners many months of unpaid allowances and gratuities."

Adelusi stated that recently, the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) in the state faulted the claim by the state government on the release of N200 million for payment of gratuity to members, saying there was no recent disbursement of the amount to the union, indicating that it was "a big fraud."

Adelusi further asked Kolapo and his executive members to explain to Ekiti workers "if they were elected to serve their stomachs and pockets or to represent the interest of the workers.

"They should endeavour to tell Ekiti people how much they have been given to sell out their conscience."

The EBBB enjoined the workers, who it described as people of integrity suffering in the APC slave camp, to shun their leaders and vote enmass for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, reminding the workers that the first administration of Oni (2007-2010) was the best government and most beneficial to the workers, pensioners and people of Ekiti State, adding that his second coming would bring peace and economic transformation to the lives of the people.

The group implored the civil servants, teachers, local government workers, pensioners, market women, artisans and students to protect their voter cards and never release them to the APC agents who would come cunningly to collect them from them.

Attack on Oni: Militant group bares fang|Ojaomonews

...Warns against repeat, says it will protect Oni, SDP

A militant group, called Ekiti Political Mafia (EPM), led by a former chairman of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Ekiti State, Akinrogun Femi Bade-Gboyega, has condemned the assassination attempt on former governor of the state and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, advising the All Progressives Congress (APC) to call "the thugs it is parading as members" to order.

Bade-Gboyega, who is the state and  national leader of EPM, spoke exclusively with the spokesman of Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB), Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Sunday, saying that the thugs operating under the cover of the APC should not boast as having monopoly of violence.

He added that the EPM had resolved to provide a ring of  protection around the SDP governorship candidate.

According to Bade-Gboyega, the EPM, which has its membership drawn from former OPC, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Agbekoya and many other organisations as its affiliates, was deeply sad about the attack on the campaign convoy of Oni last Wednesday by some APC thugs led by the APC Youth Leader in Efon Alaaye Local Government, Mr Oluwafemi Gbenga a.k.a Owolesu,  describing the act as barbaric, primitive and callous.

The EPM said Ekiti people were behind Oni and it was he they wanted as their governor, stressing that Oni was God-sent to free Ekiti people from the dungeon of slavery, abject poverty and backwardness in which the present and immediate-past administration had buried them.

His words: "The thuggery attack on His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Adebayo Oni on Wednesday, 6th April, at Efon Alaaye Ekiti while on visit to SDP faithful is  condemned in totality.

"It is very uncalled for; it is one of Nigeria's bad political culture the abrogation of which every reasonable Nigerian is agitating for. It is  a political set back to still witness such thing in this modern age.

"It is an act capable of causing breach of peace in Ekiti. I am liking it to drawing a battle line in a democratic setting. The culprits should understand that no one has monopoly of violence; also, no man is an Island.

"The party in government and everybody should realise that there is no army larger than the people's army, and when they resolve to change a bad government, nobody or military equipment can stand on their way.

"Ekiti people are unprecedentedly involved in Segun Oni's campaign and project in the political history of Ekiti.

"So, the APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must be careful, as a repeat of the incident at Efon on the SDP members  in any part of the state will be followed with instant response from the army of Ekiti people, a development that may lead to war.

"The EPM is sounding the note of warning that what happened at Efon should not repeat itself and the APC should never think they have a monopoly of violence. Ekiti belongs to all of us."

Insecurity: Farmers, kidnap victims, others demand Change of Govt |Ojaomonews

...Prefer Oni, As Ekiti govt admits it can't stop menaces

Farmers in Ekiti State whose farming activities have been disturbed, due to incessant killing and maiming by killer  herdsmen as well as the generality of Ekiti people who are saddened by the unchecked menace of gunmen and kidnappers have cried out that they will prefer an active Segun Oni as the next governor of the state.

They lamented the daily kidnapping of people for ransom and rapping of their wives and their daughters by the rampaging herdsmen, calling on Ekiti people to come out enmass on June 18 to use their voter cards to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, "if they want a stop to insecurity in the state."

The farmers' delegate referred to the recent statement of the government through its Commissioner for Information in a national newspaper that the APC-led government had become  incapacitated to halt the killings, kidnapping, maiming and destroying of farmlands.
"This is admittance of failure by the government; and when this happens, such government should be changed," the delegate said.

The commissioner, Akin Omole, in a recent interview with a national newspaper, had said "the state government is handicapped in the deployment of security agencies to the area; but I can assure you clearly that the situation in that area is giving us concerns as well."

The farmers' delegate said the return of APC government was a continuity of killing and maiming of farmers and a tacit endorsement for the kidnappers to continue their businesses as usual.

They, therefore, urged Ekiti people to elect Asiwaju Segun Oni as their governor who they claimed they believed "will value the lives and well-being of an average Ekitiman and who will not play politics with security and well-being of the people."

Leaders of the group, Chief Ajayi Olowolayemo, Pastor Adeoluwa Alonge, Mrs. Deborah Ayodele and Mr. Ibukun Lawal, who thronged the Ado-Ekiti office of Ekiti Build Back Better (EBBB) spoke the minds of the generality of Ekiti people who agreed that their state has been under siege and almost taken over by the killer herdsmen and kidnappers since 2018 when the APC took over administration of the state.

According to a press release issued by Idowu Adelusi, the spokesman of EBBB, in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, the four-man delegate, which claimed to be speaking for the disenchanted Ekiti people, said the state had never witnessed "this kind of upsurge in terrorism and Ekiti people are helpless as if there is no government."

The delegates were emphatic in their demands saying, "only Asiwaju Segun Oni we know and trust that will not play politics with security of our lives and property.  He is a man of God; he has the fear of God and has the political will to restore security and normalcy to the state."

The delegates, who said in Yoruba that "o to gee (enough is enough), recalled that the immediate-past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration "did not give these criminals breathing space and never allowed them to have foothole in Ekiti, because the former governor would never accept nonsense.

They stated further that "the criminals are operating freely with minimum check by the government and security agencies, as if they had assisted the APC in wining the 2018 election, and as if they are now being rewarded indirectly by the government.

"For instance the  people of Ikole, Oye, Moba, Ilejemeje, Ise, Emure, Ekiti-East, Ikere, Ekiti-West, Ijero and Efon local government areas  of the state have been living in distress and apprehension, following continuous attacks on the areas by the criminals.

"What is agitating the minds of Ekiti people right now is a total stop to insecurity, so that farmers can return to farm and people are able to do their businesses or move freely without fear of being kidnapped or killed."

Adelusi said that in the last three years, the state had been under siege and people were being kidnapped both in the day and night
 for ransom.
"People are afraid to travel and if the traveling is compulsory, people now consult their pastors, alfas and Ifa priests for prayer."

He said farmers were afraid to go to their farms, a development  causing avoidable rise in prices of foods and cost of living, particularly in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The EBBB spokesman said in  2019, a former member of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Adedeji, was gunned down along Ikere - Ise road.  In 2020, an overseas-based Ekiti man, who came home to establish farming business, was kidnapped on his farm and his security personnel shot along Ijan-Ekiti road, adding that "four other people were kidnapped at Ajebamidele Area of Ado-Ekiti around 8:30 p.m. late last year."

He said the gory tales were alarming, adding that "between 2019 and 2022, many people, including monarchs, lawmakers, doctors, expertriates, investors, foreign contractors, lecturers, top civil servants, teachers have been kidnapped and later released after huge ransoms had been paid.

"Many farmers have been killed or maimed while working on their farms, while their wives and daughters were rapped. Yet, the John Kayode Fayemi-led administration did nothing to stop the menace and the APC has the gut to wish to continue in power."

PDP Members Rejects Alleged Fayose’s Imposition Of Reps Candidate |Ojaomonews

April 3rd, 2022

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti South federal constituency one at the weekend protested against the alleged moves by the former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose to impose the party’s House of Representatives candidate on the constituency.

The members alleged that the former governor has concluded plans to impose former members of the house of representatives, Segun Adekola for the federal constituency, compromising Ikere, Ise/Orun and Ekiti South-West local government areas.

The spokesman of the protesting party members, Kola Adewole noted that the former governor on Saturday in Ise/Orun endorsed the ambition of Adekola, which he said would not augur well for the party ahead of the election.

He explained that while they respect the ex- governor’s decision to endorse candidates, “his choices over time had further worsened the party’s chances at the polls rather than strengthen it.”

They said they would rather subject the choice of candidate of the party to a credible delegate election, between Adekola and Henrich Akomolafe from Ikere-Ekiti.

He said, “For instance, When former governor Ayodele Fayose went to back Bisi Kolawole, Kolawole won the primaries through rigging and you can see how we are losing supporters on a daily basis.

“Now, we are saying we want a youth, fresh blood who has credibility and a track record in Akomolafe but again our leader (Fayose) has opted for a political lightweight who lost heavily as a sitting member in 2019. We would not take it.”

But Fayose who denied the allegation of imposition said it is within his right to have a preference among the aspirants and that the decision did not foreclose the ambition of others ahead of the primaries.

When contacted, Akomolafe said, “he remains ‘unfazed’ but advised ex-governor Fayose who he referred to as his father against working against the will of the people and further worsening the party’s chances because of pecuniary interests.”
