Point Of The Year Was The Verdict That Pitched Two Friends Against Each Other ~~~Sen Olujimi

As 2019 Rolls Away: ODE To A New Year Of Promise.

By Senator Biodun Olujimi

To God be all the glory for this very eventful year 2019. As we draw the curtain today, its probably the best description of bitter/sweet period in the lives of many especially mine.
The campaign, election,  declaration, withdrawal from the Senate, tribunal, appeal and finally, victory and reinstatement!!!

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!!

There's no reason to dwell on all the issues than to pay homage to those whom the Good Lord used for this season and pray that 2020 will be positively exciting for all of us.

The high point of the year was the tribunal/appeal court judgements that pitched 2 friends against each other. I must, with utmost respect and humility commend the six judges that sat on both panels. All six ruled in my favour.

In these days of serious apprehension,  its the biggest feat, to go against the flow!!

The pressure must have been heavy, but I thank God for their wisdom and firm resolve to do the right thing.

It is a sweet reminder that the judiciary can be the last hope of a person that stands alone with God. I appreciate you all, My Lords. May your family know peace in every way.

May God be present always when you need Him the most. May you find wisdom and joy in all that u do. I Am grateful!

I cannot but thank my brother Prince Adeyeye,  who bore the burden of it all, your best is yet to come! Life is like the whip, it oscillates!

I have been in the system long enough to know that anything is possible where there are ungodly people who don't bat an eyelid in the quest to divert the truth, therefore, I wish to commend the following people that stood firmly on the side of democracy and justice:
His Excellency Governor Fayemi, a man so devoted to his party and the members! He lives and breathes APC!! Thank God for your belief in democracy and rule of law! I was so afraid of the movements even when you were going about lawful duties. My sister, Erelu Bisi Fayemi who is a great beacon in the gender struggle even avoided me during the period! I appreciate your Excellencies.

My belief in the slogan 'Ekiti First' is not misplaced. You have proved it beyond doubts.

Let me quickly add though,  that I will resume fully in January and will do everything that will bring development to our dear state including constructive criticism of policies and projects.

I know u will still be tolerant.

Asiwaju Bola and Sen. Remi Tinubu, I know your commitment to your party, thank you for allowing God and justice to prevail.

His Excellency, former Gov. Niyi Adebayo, the Senate President and all the juggernaut of the ruling party! God took pre-eminence !!

I must appreciate the Arinjale of Ise, Kabiyesi Oba David  Adetunji Ajayi for believing in his own. Kabiyesi You taught us a great lesson. I doff my hat to you sir. You have always been my strong ally. We will work together in the new year to bring succour to our people! It is well with you Kabiyesi.

I am also very grateful to Former Governor Ayo Fayose, he was used mightily by God for my victory. He proved that the power of God is ever supreme. Let me also acknowledge his public apology. It's rare for a man of his standing to admit guilt. I salute your courage.

To those people who were with me throughout the struggle especially the lawyers, prayer warriors and conquerors,  Rev Fathers who set up novenas, My Lord,  the Bishop of Ekiti, all prayerful spiritual fathers, my committed friends and followers, colleagues, party faithfuls, my friends across the political parties, royal fathers, chiefs, my family members and everyone I am yet to encounter, God knows you all, He will meet you at every point of need. I appreciate you most sincerely.

In the struggle,  there were times the road looked shut, a few people were used to rescue the situation, they remain anonymous but they know themselves. I appreciate you from the depth of my heart, I pray I can reciprocate your kindness.

To those who are bitter about the judgement for one reason or the other, please find it in your heart to accept that only God gives power. Your time will also come when your enemies will push you to greatness. I bear no grudge.

To my party, the great People's Democratic party,  I appreciate the ticket given me to fly the flag!! Like the great Gov. Nyesome Wike will always say, 'I am a party man'! So am I.

I believe in the party and her ideals, yes there might be differences but it's the best party yet. Am happy to belong and promise to do all in my power to strengthen and reposition the party for greater opportunities in Ekiti and beyond, (God helping me).

My National chairman, Chief Uche Secondus, the entire National Working committee, my Southwest zonal chairman, Dr Eddy Olafeso and his team, all members and state chairmen of the party in the zone especially the Ondo state chairman Engr. Faboyede, thank you all. The time has come for you to start insisting on discipline in the party without fear or favour.

To my Ekiti State PDP chairman, Barr. Gboyega Oguntuase, the SWC and entire Exco members, I thank you for your support. I am grateful that we can work together with other leaders and Senator Duro Faseyi to reposition our dear party.

For me, i do not intend to manipulate or maltreat anyone, I believe leadership is earned by hard work and commitment not by fiat.

Anything short of collegiate leadership will be a great disservice to our teeming party members who are yearning for good, focused and committed leadership.

As the Congress draws near, we must work together to install a strong, passionate, honest,  vibrant, fair and committed party man who will unite and not divide us as Chairman.

Our sole agenda will be 'Ekiti First, PDP next' any hidden agenda to perpetuate  undemocratic and punitive tendencies will be resisted.

I urge that we all work together to restore the glory of our party because it is crystal clear that God will only install whom He pleases.

To my brothers in the fourth realm, my colleagues of the Press, I thank you for your understanding of the situation. I am still loyal.

Let me thank my perceived 'enemies ', you are the reason I thrive, you spur me to do much more, sheath your sword, its time to be a team again to move forward.

To all my allies, you made me proud, I will not forget you.

To my family, husband, children, siblings and all, thank you for the stability you provide.

To the Greatest One, my God, my all, my maker, my being, my beginning, my end, I return all glory, honour and dominion to You. I will worship you forever in faith and truth.

TO HIM BE ALL THE GLORY BOTH NOW AND FOREVER.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. MAY THE NEW YEAR BRING JOY AND HAPPINESS TO ALL.

I APPRECIATE YOU ALL.

Signed;
Chief (Mrs) Biodun Olujimi,
Senator of The Federal Republic of Nigeria
Representing Ekiti South

Former Ekiti Labour Leader Receives Award Of Excellence, Narrates Ordeals.

The former Cbairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State Council, Com (Prince) Ade Adesanmi today received an award of meritorious service and excellent performance.

Prince Ade Adesanmi, the immediate past NLC chairman Ekiti state Chapter narrated the stand and plight of organized labour in Ekiti State during total collapse of economy in Country which resulted to "Economic Meltdown" and affected workers welfare in Nigeria and Ekiti State in particular.

According to him it was by grace of God and wisdom that made the situations of things as minimal as it was as far as welfare of workers was concerned, there were options presented by government then, like payment of half salary as it was in Osun State then, payment of Net Salary as it was in Ogun State, payment of core civil servant while pensions, tertiary institutions and teachers left out as it was in Oyo State then and downsizing of workers, but organized labour under my leadership opted for paying full salary for all workers and payment pensioners without sacking workers despite the declined federal allocation accruing to the state which resulted into outstanding salaries owed the State and LGA workers back then.

Despite the fact that there was lots of tension due to outstanding salaries, with God on our sides, the help of my team, we were able to manage the situation of things pending when the Federal allocation to the state government improved and payment of salary is regular, although the outstanding is still there. He appealed to government to the way possble to pay the outstanding salaries and pension, Adesanmi added.

Prince Ade Adesanmi who is presently the Deputy Director of Primary Nutrition in Ekiti State, was awarded an award of meritorious service and excellent performance by "Holy Sparrow Social Club of Ogotun Ekiti" a socio-cultural group presided over by Hon. Olalekan Oladimeji, the proprietor of "First Harvard Polytechnic" describes Prince Adesanmi as an excellent Egalitarian, extrovert and an achiever who deserved to be honoured.

The tenure you, although very difficult because of the economic down turn, but it was successfully managed, it was the most trying period in our dear state and the nation. Despite the melt down, you did your best to prevent workers from being sacked.

We commend you and appreciate your efforts as a stakeholder in Ekiti State. You proved the royalty in you and you did not disappoint the community that brought you forth.

This is just a means to appreciate you by awarding you excellently.

Cross Rivers Governor Creates Ministries Of Foreign Affairs, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

The Cross River governor, Ben Ayade, has created a ministry of foreign affairs in the state.
The new ministry was announced on Tuesday when Mr Ayade swore-in 39 commissioners in Calabar.
Apart from foreign affairs, Mr Ayade also created ministry of robotics and artificial intelligence, ministry of humanity and social welfare, and ministry of grants and economic empowerment.
Other new ministries are ministry of establishment and payroll, ministry of special duties, ministry of aviation, ministry of commerce, ministry of sports and cinematography.
Among the already existing ministries in the state are ministry of training and doctoring, ministry of infrastructure, ministry of rural transformation, ministry of climate change, and ministry of new cities development.
PREMIUM TIMES asked the state government why the creation of a ministry for foreign affairs which is under the exclusive list of the federal government.
Asu Okang, the commissioner for information in the state, told PREMIUM TIMES, Thursday, that the job of the new ministry is to harness foreign investment opportunities for Cross River.
“The governor has made quite a number of foreign trips in the last four years, there were some encumbrances because there were other engagements, sometimes more than five functions in a particular state of visitation.
“It became very important that the governor needed another person who would speak of the government perspective and engage investors as it were at any point in time, either with the governor or alone,” Mr Okang said.
On foreign affairs being an item under the exclusive list of the federal government, Mr Okang said “Cross River is an independent state of its own under the federation. Are you saying a state does not have the right to source for foreign investors for its own state?
“How exclusive is exclusive? What is exclusive about foreign affairs?” he added.
Governor Ayade wanted to create a ministry of defence and internal securities but dropped the idea when the issue of the exclusive list came up, the commissioner said.

“Every state is independent enough to be able to drive its own agenda as a state,” he said.
The commissioner said the ministry of robotics and artificial intelligence is just another name for science and technology.
“The governor in his wisdom refused to call it science and technology because it would be limiting the real essence and the intent of the creation of that ministry.
“Artificial intelligence as a major issue is what the state is leveraging on, we have young people who are very innovative in our state who are doing a lot but are not seen. If you now call it science and technology, it will completely be a stereotype. So to run away from the stereotype of science and technology which is not delivering, we want to be specific in our mandate.”
Having a ministry for climate change gives the impression that the governor is passionate about the climate but building a super highway through the state’s forest somehow contradicts this, PREMIUM TIMES told Mr Okang.
“We have planted over one million new trees in the course of building the super highway,” he responded.
The commissioner said “trees are made for mankind and not mankind for the trees”.
“We cannot say because we are fighting global warming we cannot create infrastructure for our people,” he added.

Exposed: Buhari celebrates 77th birthday but her younger sister, Rakiya is 84 years today’

Veteran columnist and preacher, Femi Aribasala has drawn attention to what he called “miracle of miracles,” noting that while Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari celebrated his 77th birthday few days ago on December 17th, her younger sister, Hajiya Rakiya Adamu, is celebrating her 84th birthday this week.
Aribasala who took to her twitter handle, @femiaribasala to point out the oddity, said only a miracle could explain it.

“MIRACLE OF MIRACLES, Our dear president, Muhammadu Buhari, recently celebrated his 77th birthday. Similarly, his younger sister, Hajiya Rakiya Adamu is celebrating her 84th birthday this week. This is nothing short of a miracle,” Aribasala noted.
President Buhari had on Tuesday, December 17, celebrated his 77th birthday, having been officially born on the day in 1942.
However, controversy has continued to surround his age, with many suggesting that he might be older than he claims.
Some have noted particularly that while Buhari who was military head of state between 1983 and 1985, was senior in the military to Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida who succeeded him in office via a coup, and was presumably older, today, Babangida who was born on August 17,1941 is officially older than the president.

As he departed from the DSS office, the activist chanted ‘revolution now and forever’, and wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas.
The DSS arrested Sowore, the publisher of online media outfit Sahara Reporters, on August 3.
Sowore and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, are standing trial on a 16-count bordering on treasonable felony and money laundering amongst other charges.
They have since pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N100 million and N30 million respectively.
The DSS had refused to release them on bail even after they met their bail application, forcing Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu to issue a 24-hour order for their release.
Sowore and Bakare were later released on December 5, but the Sahara Reporters publisher was rearrested barely 24 hours after by the DSS.

Sen. Olujimi shares 450 Bags Of Rice And Envelopes Across 16 Local Government Areas

Much pretty very sure that today, the 22nd day of December, 2019, Christmas Sunday witnessed chants of praises and worship to the Lord God Almighty for the Mercy (Ore ọ̀fẹ́), deliverance and blessing in gifting us the most Distinguished Senator Biodun Olujimi unto us, PDP as a true leader and not a ruler at this very crucial period, as a mother at heart who cares for the welfare of all, as in less than Two (2) months of being sworn into the Red Chamber.

Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District who not only sponsored but financed at least Two Hundred (200) PDP members in one training or the other both in Abuja and in Ado-Ekiti, empowered several and as through the last one week, in making Xmas celebratable, distributed over Four Hundred and Fifty (450) Bags of Rice valued over Nine Million Naira (#9,000,000) across all the Wards in the 3 Senatorial District in Ekiti-State, she also distributed Bags of Gari and enveloped a minimum of (a sum of) Twenty-Five Thousand Naira Cash to each of the Wards across the various Wards in Ekiti-State and a separate Monetary envelopes, food items for the Excos across board. Tunde Fowler’s Appointment Was Not Renewed Because Of His Inability... FG Alleges

The Presidency has said that Babatunde Fowler’s tenure as chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was not renewed because of his inability to generate enough revenue for the country.
Fowler, whose term of office expired on December 9, 2019, was replaced by Muhammad Nami.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu, while speaking with journalists at the weekend in Abuja, also said that it was not wrong for the federal government to borrow more money to finance infrastructure in the country.
“It is not a scandal to borrow, the bad thing about borrowing is when you deployed it to your pocket. This has happened in the past in this country, President Buhari is borrowing to do railway, to do East-West expressway, to do second Niger bridge, to do Mabilla power, to do Abuja-Kano expressway, to do Ajaokuta-Abuja gas pipeline.
“These are projects that are beneficial to the economy, these are basic infrastructure projects – railway, power – without which this country cannot achieve development.

“So, if you ask me, from my own understanding, the problem we have in this country is the revenue issue. We have a revenue problem because we are unable to generate as much money as it is needed to do more capital infrastructure and also service debt.

“Because of the low revenue earnings, people look at the size of our debt repayment and they scream. But government is doing something about this and I’m happy you have seen the change that has happened in FIRS, give them a chance, let see how they would perform.

Government is optimistic that things will look upward and the revenue will improve. And once there is inflow that is sufficient to do a lot of these things, we may not even need to borrow,” Shehu said.

To pay 13th-month salary, still using his private car — 7 lessons from Seyi Makinde’s media chat

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, had his quarterly media chat in Ibadan, the state Capital, on Friday night, where he promised that the state workers will get a 13th-month salary on Dec 28, 2019.

Makinde’s government was said to have paid December salary on the 16th, to help civil servants prepare for Christmas.

OJAOMONEWS.COM brings you the top seven issues Makinde addressed and what we recently learnt from the first media chat after his electoral victory was affirmed by the Supreme Court.

‘WE HAVEN’T BOUGHT A SINGLE OFFICIAL CAR’

Makinde told the residents of the state via the chat that he still uses his private car, and has not bought any car for any state official.

“When we started, Oyo State’s finances were in a bad state. At the moment, I still use my personal car. We have not bought any car for the officials, this will cost billions,” Makinde said.

‘OYSG DIDN’T SPEND 1 KOBO ON CHRISTMAS DECORATION’

For the first time in recent history, a good number of residents and visitors to Ibadan appreciate heavy Christmas decorations at Iwo Road, the major connecting road between traffic from Lagos to northern Nigeria, and many other parts of the state.

Makinde, however, stated that the decorations came at no cost to the state government.

“It was funded by the usual ‘Christmas gift’ to the governor, that was what we used to pay for the Christmas decorations so it cost government nothing.”

‘STREET TRADERS ARE BREADWINNERS, WE WON’T CHASE THEM’

Asked what his government will do to hawkers who roam the state to make a living, Makinde said some hawkers are breadwinners, and his government will not get them off the roads without alternatives.

“Street trading will not be eradicated overnight. some of them are breadwinners, and that is their main source of income. I agree it’s very dangerous. Our position is, we can’t chase them off the street without an alternative.
“The ones removed from Ojoo, were moved to the Akinyele trailer park. At scout camp, we reduced the rent for stalls and ordered installation of electricity, toilets etc. we have to be careful we don’t take away their means of livelihood without offering alternatives.

“Dealing with the issue of street trading requires careful planning and implementation by the government.”

‘WE WOULDN’T BECOME ANOTHER LAGOS’

Speaking on transportation, Makinde said Oyo will not become another Lagos.

“On transportation, we have been extremely lucky. We do have a good road network, we just need to maintain it. We need to attract more people to our state,” the governor said.

“I don’t see the current influx of people into Oyo State as a challenge; I see it as a huge opportunity to grow our economy. The dry port, rail network and the Circular Road are good opportunities to kick start the real estate sector.

“Yes, it will present a few challenges but there is an assurance it won’t turn to another Lagos. We will recreate infrastructure similar to Ikoyi but with value for money.”

‘OYO AND OSUN PLANNING LAUTECH DIVORCE’

Makinde said his government is in talks with the State of Osun government to have a divorce on the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

“The term of reference is clear; to get a ‘divorce’ from Osun State regarding ownership. I believe the members of the committee are up to the task. We are not being unreasonable, we are negotiating with Osun on this. Not making unreasonable demands,” he added.

“Our stand on LAUTECH is in the interest of the parents, students and staff. We were given an overwhelming mandate by the people of Oyo State both in the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections so we cannot claim lack of political will.”

‘ONE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTRE PER WARD’

The billionaire governor and engineer said the state has about 600 primary healthcare centre (PHC) which are not fit for purpose, and his government is planning to have.

“There is stress on the General Hospitals because of lack of facilities in the PHCs. Oranyan PHC is the standard we will use for all PHCs in Oyo State. We have about 600 of them but most are not fit for purpose.

“I spoke to the people running it, instead of having 600, let’s rationalise them. We will start by ensuring 1 per ward is fully functional. We are working making healthcare insurance more effective, once this is completed, we will have more resources to deploy to address this.”

The governor also spoke on increased IGR, closing about 60 bank accounts operated by the last administration, and celebrating his birthday.

“Anywhere you are on Christmas day, please celebrate my birthday. Buy chicken and turkey and celebrate. We will be paying the 13th-month salary for civil/public servants by the 28th of December,” he said to the people.

Makinde turns 52 on December 25, 2019.

Fayose Makes surreptitious U-turn To Congratulate Olujimi, Noted she's the leader of the Party In The State

The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has extended an olive hand to all aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to work together in unity in the overall interest of the party.

Fayose who apologised to all aggrieved members who he might have wronged when he was governor said the party must be repositioned ahead of future elections in the state.

He spoke on Tuesday at his country home in Afao-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun council area while addressing party leaders and members across the 16 local government areas and the 177 wards in the state.

The former governor said: “We are on a mission to repositioning the party because truly we need a new attitude as members of this party. We must tell ourselves the truth that there is nothing to share in failure and we must join hands to achieve something tangible.

“I know some persons are aggrieved and I know we are humans. I apologise to all those that I have offended; let us come together in unity for this our party not to die in this state. That is my priority as a leader.

“I am doing this after one year I left office just to allow the present All Progressives Congress (APC) to display what they have for the people and you can all see for yourselves. I am not here for my selfish interest but just to ensure this party does not fail.”

Fayose, who used the meeting to officially congratulate Senator Biodun Olujimi on her recent victory as the lawmaker representing Ekiti South senatorial district, noted that she remains a  leader of the party in the state.

Everybody should come back to the party. I am open to reconciliation. If Senator Biodun Olujimi calls you for a meeting tomorrow, go there and listen to her. All of us are leaders, don’t let us factionalise this party. I am congratulating her(Senator Olujimi) and I don’t have any issue with her and I am sorry for what happened in the past.”

While explaining that creating different groups within the party would not be the best option, Fayose, however, assured that all issues and tendencies would be resolved for the party to reclaim the state from the APC in future elections.

He regretted the violence and alleged electoral malpractices that marred the last Saturday’s local government election, saying he warned the leadership of PDP in the state not participate in the poll for obvious reasons.

He also commiserated with the family of Dotun Kosedake, a member of the party who was killed in the fracas that ensued during the poll in Ikere-Ekiti.
