The Man Called 'Arapaja' -Ojaomonews

William Shakespeare says: "Be not afraid of greatness. some are born great. some achieve greatness, & others have greatness thrust upon them."

Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja a thorough bred and grassroot politician was born to the family of Mr and Mrs Oladimeji Oladejo arapaja of Kudeti/Idi Arere, Ibadan, Oyo State on the 10th November, 1958. PDP Convention: “My exclusion wrong, but I’ve moved on” – Wale Ladipo

A PDP stalwart in Osun and former National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo has reacted to his disqualification from contesting for the position of the deputy national chairman (south).

Recall, the Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced his disqualification and two others during the official launch of the 2021 National Convention Logo and Promotional Materials in Abuja.

In his reaction, Prof Wale Oladipo said he was disqualified on the order of the “power that be”.

Part of his statement reads;

“This Press Release is to inform our people in Osun State PDP Chapter and the whole of the country that l have received with shock, the news that l have not been cleared to participate in the convention of the party as the Deputy National Chairman (south) by the Screening Committee due to the observable shenanigans by some “interested powers” that were afraid of my electoral value at the National Convention.”

“They caused a frivolous petition to be written and submitted concerning my activities during the unfortunate crisis that engulfed the party more than 5 years ago!!!”

“The content of the hatchet job remains hazy but the little we know purportedly hinges on the past crisis that our party passed through then. But it is interesting to note that throughout the period, l started with dignity and kept my mind fixated on how the party will progress therefrom.”

“When the final decision was made, l abided by it and stayed by the party which consequently made us deliver on our mandate.”

“At this juncture, it is expediently necessary to reiterate the following facts in sequence order to refresh your memory regarding my activities this far thus:

(1) That when l was the National Secretary, l was never found wanting, but rather performed my duties without blemish up to the point of my exit.

(2) That l have thereafter been performing my roles in terms of responsibilities and privileges.
I have diligently been discharging my responsibilities as a member of NEC of our great party and BoT. I am also a proud member of both the Convention Committee and the PDP e-registration Committee.

(3) That l am also pleased to say that l have been delivering my constituencies constantly to the party.
I have never decamped to any other party or sabotage the interests of the party in any form.

(4) That l have never left the party.
It is therefore funny that those who walked out of convention when we had a sitting President are cleared to contest. To me, this is most abnormal and unfair.
Even then, every power is temporary.
Those who have power today should be conscious of the fact that some people had it yesterday while some other people will still have that power tomorrow.
Power is transient like the effervescence of soda.

“Having the conviction that there will always be a tomorrow, l am not going to bother myself to push this case further beyond this point because l believe in our own course which is first and foremost, to deliver Osun State to PDP and from there to move on as a committed party faithful.

“Though I have a right of appeal, and to seek redress within the confines of the internal mechanism of the party’s constitution, but l am not a desperate politician to go that route since the “power that be today” have apparently decided of what to achieve at the convention, l have no choice than to move on to concentrate on delivering Osun State to PDP in 2022.
We have delivered in the past and we shall continue to deliver.
By the special grace of God, after delivering Osun State to PDP, we will be back stronger and higher.

“Finally, l passionately urge our people to be cool and calm. You must not be discouraged or distracted from the task of delivering Osun for PDP in all our future elections beginning from the 2022 governorship election.

Our Unification Agenda Takes a Step Above SouthWest - Arapaja|Ojaomonews

In order to bring normalcy back to our fold and after due consultation with party faithfuls, members, leaders and stakeholders, today, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja participated in the screening of all Aspirants for the forthcoming National Convention at Legacy house Abuja.

While Ambassador Arapaja would be aspiring for the post of the Deputy National Chairman of our great party, this ambition is borne out of the great idea of repositioning the Party to greater heights it rightfully belongs like we have started in the Southwest PDP.

Our dearest Governor and Leader of PDP in the Southwest, Governor Seyi Makinde, has really raised the bar of politicking in our nation and we can't do otherwise than to follow his footsteps of all inclusive, purposeful and visionary brand of politics with human face. The nationwide state congresses of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, which was held on Saturday, experienced a huge setback as a result of divisions within the party.

Ojaomonews  learnt that in Lagos State, the ruling party APC had three parallel congresses with one of the factions led by a former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Bola Tinubu

It was gathered that the national leadership of the party under Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni, recognised Ambode’s faction and his list of executives which is part of a coup and ongoing efforts to weaken the influence of the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu.

Top sources revealed that Ambode's faction was sponsored by Buni, who is the Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee so as to weaken Tinubu in his perceived stronghold.

“Lagos APC had three separate congresses; the people elected in Ambode’s faction and congress are backed by Buni. It is a coup against Tinubu,” a top source revealed.

Ojaomonews obtained the list of the state executives elected by Ambode's faction; they are; Beatrice Omotayo Tugbobo, Chairman; Alhaji Dauda, Vice-chairman; Hon. Prince Adedeji Osho, Secretary; Hon. Akewushola Onoyemi, treasurer; Balogun Adekunle Hameed, Publicity Secretary;  Youth Leader, Buhari Babajide Jimoh and Woman Leader, Ashafa Salawat.

Others are: Financial Sec, Prince Moruf.A. Anibire; Organizing Sec., Olamiji Alilu; Auditor, Adeosun Iyiola Abiodun; Legal Adviser, Wasiu Adeyemi Sulaimon; Youth Leader, Adelaja Moruf; Welfare Officer, Olusegun Moruf Bello; Ex-officer 1, Ibrahim Misbau Omoniyi; Ex-officer 2, Babatunde Collins Davies.

It was reported last weekend how ailing Tinubu quietly returned to the country after months of extensive medical treatments in the United Kingdom and the United States.

It had also been reported that the APC in Lagos State had sent out a circular to its leaders across the state informing them that the Sunday welcome party being organised for Tinubu would not be held as earlier scheduled.

SaharaReporters had learnt that the APC sent the circular, signed by Alhaji Tunde Balogun (APC State Chairman), and Alhaji Maroun Are (GAC Secretary) to the party leaders believably at the ward and local government levels, without giving a specific reason for the change of plan.

however, it was gathered that the cancellation was due to the exclusive report published by this medium, which forced them to abort it abruptly.

In the circular copied from SaharaReporters, the APC leaders were told that a new arrangement for welcoming Tinubu would be announced later.

“Dear leader/GAC member, you are hereby informed of change in plans/arrival of our National Leader billed for Sunday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the plans/arrival have been put on hold. A new plan/arrival will be unfolded soon. Sorry for any inconvenience this hold may have caused. Thank you,” the notice had said.

It had reported that Tinubu confirmed that he went through a challenging health crisis, saying his “physiotherapy was gruesome.”

Tinubu said this while addressing members of the House of Representatives northern caucus who visited him in London last Friday.

The former governor, who had been in the United Kingdom for the last three months since undergoing knee surgery, told the gathering, “Because of God and people like you, I am well. It is just the physio (physiotherapy) that is gruesome.”

Since his departure, Tinubu’s London home has become a mecca of sorts as he has been visited by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Governors Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano),

Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).

SaharaReporters had reported that Tinubu underwent knee surgery at the John Hopkins University Hospital in Maryland, US.

The APC chieftain, it was learnt, left the US for the United Kingdom on crutches, a few days after the surgery.

Sources close to Tinubu told SaharaReporters that he wanted the surgery in Paris, France but changed his plan after rumours of his death spread in Nigeria.

“Tinubu had his second surgery at John Hopkins University in Maryland recently. He was accompanied by a popular Nigerian doctor in Chicago. He had wanted the surgery in Paris but when rumour was rife about his death, he hurriedly left for Nigeria and went to John Hopkins,” one of the sources had said.

"He left the US for the UK on crutches," another source revealed.

SaharaReporters had on July 31 reported that Tinubu, who has had several medical trips this year alone, had surgery about two weeks earlier and could be billed for another one.

The APC National Leader has been off official and party functions in the country for a while, amidst talks that he is being positioned for the 2023 presidency to succeed the incumbent repressive regime of Buhari.

The APC state congress which held nationwide on Saturday did not hit a crisis only in Lagos but in most states of the South-West.

Earlier today, two persons were said to have sustained injuries from gunshots fired by some unidentified persons who invaded the venue of the state Congress organised by a faction of the All Progressives Congress in Osogbo, Osun State.

The incident happened around 12.50 pm after the congress organised by the Osun Progressives, a faction of APC backed by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, had commenced the process of electing new executives.

A car with about five occupants that were armed with guns was seen driving along Osogbo/Gbongan Road towards the entrance to the venue of the Congress.

The vehicle was eventually prevented from advancing to the entrance to the venue of the Congress held at Ladsol Bus Stop, Ogo Oluwa, Osogbo, by another group leading to an exchange of gunshots between the two groups.

Also, in Ogun state, the Ake palace in Abeokuta was cordoned off by police officers believed to be from the Ogun State Police Command and officers of the Department of the State Security Services.

The officers had allegedly been sent by the faction of the APC loyal to Governor Dapo Abiodun to lock up the venue of the parallel congress of those members loyal to former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, preventing party faithful from gaining access.

Many people believed to have been mobilised for the parallel congress were seen loitering around the palace, and unable to enter the venue.

Meanwhile, the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress suspended the congress in Oyo over “irregularities”.

Ekiti 2022: PDP Repositioning Group Drops Ajijola-Ojaomonews

... Repositioning Group yet to have a candidate for Primaries
October 3, 2021014

A group within the Ekiti state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, Repositioning Group, has clarified that it is yet to elect consensus candidate for the governorship election in the state.

This was made known through a statement by Engineer Alabama Agboola, the group’s chairman.

The statement reads;

It is now a common place news that the Repositioning Group recently held an in- House election purposefully to democratically pick a Gubernatorial candidate to represent our group at the forthcoming PDP gubernatorial primaries coming up in January, 2022.

It will be recalled that three aspirants presented themselves for the election in which Alhaji Lateef Ajijola won more votes than the others. However, the terms of the MOU before the election gave room for the elders’ appeal panel to wade in incase the election conducts and result contravened the gentleman’s agreements among the aspirants.

In line with this, a 5-man appeal committee headed by Rt.Hon.Tunji Odeyemi was set up after one of the aspirants petitioned the group’s leadership with cited cases of malpractices pre and post the election.

After due considerations and investigations of all the allegations as contained in the petition; the Committee’s findings as contained in their report released on the 28th, September. 2021 and signed by all the five-member committee upheld all the allegations as contained in the petition.

To this end, the Repositioning elders caucus had an online conference meeting on September 28, 2021 and adopted all the findings of the appeal Committee as presented.

In view of this, the prepordence opinions of the Elders was that the in-House election held on the 3rd of September, 2021 could not be said to have been held as a true representation of the intention of the organisers ( Repositioning Movement) to bring out a candidate that will represent the group at the forthcoming competitive Ekiti state PDP Governorship primaries.

It has been resolved therefore, that the group is YET To pick any candidate that will participate in the coming primaries. Members are to be calm and continue to trust in the leadership of the group that appropriate steps are being taken urgently to ensure that we choose a candidate to represent the interest of the Repositioning Group in the PDP gubernatorial primary come January, 2022.

In God we trust.

Signed,
Engineer Alaba Agboola.
