Another Opportunity given to Bello by the APC would mean reducing our lifespan

A group of civil servants under the aegis of Concerned Kogi Workers Forum, on Sunday, warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against giving its ticket to the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, ahead of the November governorship election.

The forum said foisting the governor on the workers “would amount to further shortening our life span”.

The spokesman of the forum, Hassan Abdul, in a statement made available to newsmen, appealed to the national secretariat of the APC not to elongate the suffering of the people by conceding the ticket to the governor.

The workers, who threw their weight behind the governorship bid of a former chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman, said “as workers who bear the brunt of Gov. Bello’s misrule, another opportunity given to him by the APC would mean reducing our lifespan”

The workers disclosed that the forum is made up of workers who were arbitrarily sacked, some who have also been cleared by the screening committees set up by Bello, yet have not been paid for about 30 months, adding that another opportunity for the APC to present him for another term would mean the party does not mind their wellness and survival.

The concerned workers lamented that never have Kogi state civil servants experience hardship as they are presently experiencing as many of them have died untimely, with many unable to meet family obligations.
The workers clarified that they did not have grouse with President Mohammadu Buhari and the APC, having restated their plights and sufferings caused by Gov. Bello’s insensitivity to payment of salaries and workers welfare, fielding him against the collective wish of the concerned workers would mean the APC and the presidency does not care about their welfare.

“I was raped as a virgin and the pain felt like hell.. by a pastor who claims to be a prophet,” she wrote.
Although Vicki did not mention any name in her tweets, it was clear who she was accusing: Pastor TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.

ADELEKE vs OYETOLA: APC threatened Justices, wants victory through back door

A civil society group, the Civil Liberty Union, has raised alarm over alleged harrassments and threats against some members of the Supreme Court panel of Justices presiding over the Osun governorship Appeal by a team allegedly led by a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Southwest and 2 governors one from the South West and the other from North West.
The group alleged that the APC leader and the two governors were allegedly using the names of President Muhammadu Buhari to intimidate the Justices to jettison the supremacy of the Constitution and find any way to give a favourable judgement to Gboyega Oyetola, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This claim was contained in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Wednesday in Abuja and signed by its Coordinator, Mallam Shuaibu Adamu.
The statement added that the APC leader and the 2 governors went bullish and desperate when they couldn’t get President Buhari to give explicit support to his quest to influence the Supreme court.
“They went to falsely quote that the President has directed the Justices to do their bid and forget any matter of constitution by endorsing Oyetola as Governor.
“We are aware of an evil plot to truncate justice in the case of Osun state Governorship Appeal before the Supreme Court.
“We want to alert President Muhammadu Buhari that the APC leader and the two governors are using his name and office to harass and compel Supreme Justices to rule in their favour.
“This is happening right now and we want the President to know and act quickly before further damage and utter destruction is done to the Judiciary.
“From last night till now, the APC leader has been running helter skelter with both promises of Billions as well as threats of severe consequences against Justices who do not agree.
“We know authoritatively that President Buhari has told Justice Tanko that the law should take its cause on Osun. We know that Justice Tanko has vowed to allow Justice to prevail.
“That was why he is dropping Mr President’s name. We urge the justices to remain steadfast. The whole world knows what happened in Osun was a rape of democracy and an affront to the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria.
“The UK, US and EU all condemned the election especially the established voter harassments and disenfranchisement that characterized it.
“We affirm to the Justices that ruling on facts and supremacy of the constitution is the right and conscionable path of honour and posterity will judge them as bold and courageous standing for equity and justice.
“We are interested in this matter because it is a stain on the nation’s democratic credential. We need to clean it up by allowing the truth and the constitution to prevail.
“Mr President also agreed to this line of thought and that was why he has directed the Supreme Court to follow the law and their convictions. We won’t stand by and allow the APC leader to rubbish our country any further.
“We plan to present a protest letter to the Presidency and the Chief Justice of Nigeria on this matter,” the group declared.

Saraki’s former aide Olu Onemola turns down Lawan’s appointment

Olu Onemola, a former media aide to Bukola Saraki has stepped down from his position as special assistant to the senate president on new media.
However, his appointment and that of others who worked for Saraki sparked controversy.

In an internal memo to Lawan seen by TheCable on Sunday, Onemola said he would want to be excused “from taking up this national assignment” because of the controversy it has generated.

“As an individual who prides myself in always setting a high standard and significant precedents I feel honoured to have been asked to fill this vital role in the service of our great country,” he said.

“I thank you sir, for the offer to continue on to serve and promote the work of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic which I am sure is home out of your patriotic desire to serve the Nigerian people.

“However, at this time, given my personal antecedents, and the controversy that this has generated, I would respectfully like to be excused from taking up this national assignment.

“It is my hope that whoever does fill this role, builds upon what we have started in terms of opening up the activities of the Nigerian Senate to the public.

“I will be ready and available in whatever way to give my recommendations if and when requested as the new team begins its work.

“I have communicated my decision to the Chief of Staff, Babagana Muhammad Aji, and I wish the new team all the best as they work to meet the demands of the Nigerian people.”

This development is coming after the senate president withdrew the appointment of Festus Adedayo as his special adviser on media and publicity.

A group known as All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders Forum had accused Lawan of rewarding people who have insulted President Muhammadu Buhari.

APC crisis: Oshiomhole must respect party decisions – Gov. Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has charged Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to respect the decision of the party in the state concerning the inauguration of the State House of Assembly.
He said this while berating Oshiomhole over his remarks concerning the inauguration of the State House of Assembly.

The statement reads: “We read with utter astonishment, a statement credited to the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, with respect to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s alleged role in the inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly.
“Apart from the fact that he based his conclusion on a totally false and baseless premise, we believe that he could have shown that he does not have a vested interest by simply inquiring from his friend, the governor or any official of the State Working Committee of our party as to what actually transpired.

Israeli churches reject TB Joshua’s plans to visit Nazareth.

Churches in the Israeli city of Nazareth have called for the cancellation of the planned visit of TB Joshua, Nigerian Evangelist and founder the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
Herald Nigeria learnt that the planned visit of Joshua has generated criticisms among the residents and stakeholders, including church officials.
Joshua is scheduled to visit the Israeli city ahead of his church’s event tagged the “Nazareth Meeting with TB Joshua,” holding on June 23 and June 24.
“We beg you to not play in the hands of those organising this type of festival which is an affront to the principles of Christianity, and our national identity,”  some of the church leaders were quoted by Haaretz.
“We beg you not to play in the hands of those organizing this type of festival which is an affront to the principles of Christianity, and our national identity, and deals a blow to the social fabric of a city like Nazareth,” they wrote.

Checkout New song by Benji Shoro featuring Jaywon - [Bless Me]
Church officials quoted text from the New Testament about how believers must be cautious about false messiahs who try to convince people they are performing miracles.
The publication said both Christian and Muslim leaders have kicked against the scheduled visit except for the Catholic church which argued the event should be allowed to hold just like that of pilgrims.
Also, the Hadash and Youth for Change parties in Nazareth were said to have also cited Joshua’s source of wealth as part of their concerns.
“We have asked to take an in-depth look at this issue, at why a city like Nazareth would receive such a person who is denied entry to many countries on grounds of criminal suspicions and given his links to the extreme right in Israel,” they reportedly said.
“What’s more, the man is known to have grown wealthy in a way that has raised many questions and therefore we view such a visit as an illegitimate step which contaminates the city and its historic heritage.
“And we absolutely reject the mayor’s claims that such an event would bring $1 million to the city and would see such a sum were it to actually materialise as an illegitimate contribution that would contaminate the city.”

After NASS Election, AGF resumes Goje’s prosecution over alleged N6.6bn fraud

The office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on Friday resumed the prosecution of former Gombe state Governor, Senator Danjuma Goje and two others at Federal High Court sitting in Jos. It would be recalled that fortnight ago, the office of the AGF took over Goje’s N6.6 billion corruption case from Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC) for the interest of justice and speedy hearing. ADVERTISEMENT Goje, representing Gombe Central at the Senate was in 2011 alongside, a former Executive Chairman, Gombe state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Aliyu Ubandoma El-Nafaty, Food Supplier to Gombe state Government, Sabo Tumu – now a deceased and an Auctioneer, S.M Dokoro accused of laundering, diverting and misappropriating the sum of N6.6 billion belonging to Gombe state between 2007 to 2011. EFCC in an 18 count charge before adding three fresh charges late last year said Goje had misappropriated the Gombe state’s N5 billion loan from Access Bank that was granted by the state’s house of assembly to complete infrastructure in the state and N1.4 billion for the contract of supplying dictionaries to the primary and junior secondary schools in the state through the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board, (G-SUBEB).

After series of adjournments, arguments and counter arguments by both prosecuting and defendants counsels for the past eight years, however in his judgment about two months ago, Justice Babatunde Quadri struck 19 out 21 count charge which included 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 19 and 21, with the charges bordered on diversion, laundering and misappropriation. Judge ordered that Goje, as 1st defendant and based on count charge 8 and 9, to enter trial box to explain why he gave an order to the 3rd defendant- S.M. Dokoro to auction 50 Toyota vehicles. But before Goje entered a trial box  during the last sitting on June 7th the representative of AGF, Pius Akutah told the court that the office of AGF has taken over of the case for the interest of justice and speedy hearing and EFCC’s counsel, Wahab Shittu didn’t object the submission made by Mr Akutah. The presiding judge then adjourned the case to Friday, 21st June for hearing. But during Friday’s sitting, Pius Akutah, an Assistant Chief Counsel from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) begged the court to give his office ample to enable them continue with the case. He said, “We wish to inform the court that the case has been transferred to office of AGF and documents concerning this case were officially handed over to us by EFFC on Wednesday. We need time to look properly into the documents before we proceed with the case.” The counsel to the defendants, Oladele Oyelami didn’t object the submission made by the prosecuting counsel, Mr Akutah. The presiding judge, Babantunde Quadri adjourned the case to July 4th for continuation of hearing.

House help steals old woman’s undies for N2,000 in Ado-Ekiti

A 21-year-old man, Mr Efoghae Friday, has confessed to stealing underwear belonging to a grandma in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, for payment of N2,000.

The grandma, Modupe Adekoya, who expressed shock over the incident, disclosed that Friday was known to her and used to assist her with domestic chores.

It was learnt that policemen attached to Irewolede Police Station arrested Friday on Tuesday afternoon after a report was made by a relative of the old woman.
The suspect and three others, arrested in connection with the theft, were later transferred to the New Iyin Police Station on Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti.

According to police, the suspect has allegedly confessed to committing the crime. He also confessed to have stolen the old woman pants, on the line, where they were spread to dry.

Adekoya said: “I know Friday very well. He used to assist me with domestic chores. To appreciate him, I give him food. I never thought he could do this.

I washed my panties and spread two of out on the line dry; this was about 3a.m. on June 10. The line was at the corridor of my house. But when I went to remove them the next morning, I found out that one was missing. I then raised the alarm. After a series of investigations, a relative, who suspected Friday, called him. He was urged to confess. They also told him that nobody would get angry with him. He eventually confessed to stealing the underwear. We then invited the police. When he was arrested, he took the police to the house of three boys. He claimed that one of the boys asked him to fetch female underwear and that he would pay him N2,000.”

The woman’s family are demanding that police should investigate the matter thoroughly and ensured that Friday and others were charged to court. They also want their granny stolen underwear to be returned.

Adekoya’s lawyer, Layi Obisesan, said: “We want the police to charge the case to court since Friday has made confessional statements. He even gave the colour of the underwear he stole, which was identified as Madam Adekoya. He also gave the location from where he stole it. He said he was asked to bring the underwear by one Enyinma, living around Irewolede area of Basiri in Ado-Ekiti.”

Breaking: You Must Explain Why you Failed To Attend June 12 Democracy Day Buhari queries Obasanjo

President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken on the absence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations.
DAILY POST reported that Obasanjo, former President Goodluck Jonathan, General Gowon, Babangida, among others were not present at the event.
Obasanjo, however, claimed that he was not invited for the national event.
However, in a statement to DAILY POST on Wednesday by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari said Obasanjo owes Nigerians explanation on why he did not attend the programme.
He said, “The former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, owes an answer to Nigerians on his absence from the 2019 Presidential inauguration and Democracy Day celebration because the claim that he was not invited or he did not receive an invitation cannot be sustained.
“Since the claim was first made, elements in the polity that have deliberately and consistently been trying to lead the country toward polarization have cashed in on it, throwing all manner of rubbish at the Buhari Presidency.
“The fact remains that the Secretary to the Government, Boss Mustapha wrote on May 16th, 2019 to:
‘His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, Former President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Agbe L’Oba House, Quarry Road, Ibara, P.O.Box 2286, Abeokuta, Ogun State.’
“The invitation was sent to Chief Obasanjo’s known forwarding address, detailing out all the major events, and the invitation cards were delivered by a reputable courier company as confirmed.
“The receipt of the letter and invitation cards as delivered by the courier company was confirmed by Mr. Taiwo Ojo, the long-standing Personal Secretary to the former President.
“If in the circumstance, Chief Obasanjo did not see or receive the letter and invitation cards as published by Vanguard newspaper (Page 16, June 16, 2019) and several other news platforms, then the former President needs to find out what is happening with his own secretariat.
“The government office did its job diligently and should not be blemished for no reason.”

FIFA rule that broke the hearts of many Nigerians, the same rule may help the country qualify for the next round of the tournament.

Two days after a FIFA rule broke the hearts of many Nigerians, the same rule may help the country qualify for the next round of the tournament.
On Monday, the Super Falcons of Nigeria were heartbroken as their qualification hopes for the Round of 16 at the ongoing Women’s World Cup in France was thrown in the balance due to a controversial newly-introduced FIFA rule.
The new rule (at penalties) is that the goalkeeper must have at least one foot on the line and once this is not fully adhered to, a retake is given and the goalkeeper cautioned.
In Monday’s match between France and Nigeria, Wendie Renard’s first attempt went wide, but scored with a second opportunity, following a video replay showing Chiamaka Nnadozie marginally in front of the goal line.
However, 48 hours later, that same rule seems to have given Nigeria a lifeline as Argentina remarkably albeit with the help of VAR came from three goals down to force Scotland to a 3-3 draw.

With this development, Scotland have been sent home after the same thing that happened in the Nigeria-France game played out in the dying moments against Argentina on Wednesday.

However, Scotland’s heartbreak is now Nigeria’s joy as the chance of the Falcons to qualify for the Round of 16 has just gotten brighter.
Argentina also have a small lifeline with two points. The South Americans will need New Zealand vs Cameroon and Thailand vs Chile to be drawn to pull through.
Out of the four slots available for the best third-placed teams, two has already been taken by China and Brazil who have four and six points respectively from their group games.

For the Super Falcons to confirm their place, they would be fine if New Zealand vs Cameroon and Thailand vs Chile games end in stalemates.

They would also pull through if the winner of New Zealand vs Cameroon game does not record more than a goal margin victory.

Also, if Chile fail to secure more than a two-goal margin win over whipping girls, Thailand, then the Super Falcons are sure to finish ahead of them in the final standings.

Should Chile win massively against free-conceding Thailand (let’s say 4-0), they will go ahead of Nigeria on goal difference and it will then depend on how the Cameroon v New Zealand encounter end

Tinubu More Important Than Akeredolu In Ondo – Ex-commissioner

The ousted Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Ondo State, Mr Solagbade Amodeni, has rated the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu higher than Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the politics of the state.

He said Tinubu controls a higher number of followers and supporters than Akeredolu who has been ruling the state for about three years.

Amodeni who was sacked on Monday by Governor Akeredolu for allegedly attending a political meeting called by Tinubu, said his sack from Akeredolu’s cabinet was not unexpected.

“If there was anybody that was qualified and eligible to be sacked from Akeredolu’s cabinet, I think I was not the one. I have no regret for being dropped as a commissioner by Akeredolu,” he said.

The former commissioner said he merited his sack from the cabinet of Akeredolu considering the frosty relationship between Akeredolu and Tinubu, who he described as his political leader and mentor.

The APC chieftain who did not confirm attending any meeting with Tinubu, however, stressed that he has a cordial relationship with him.

He refused to give any reason for his sack other than maintaining that his closeness to Tinubu was second to none.

Tinubu and Akeredolu had been at loggerheads since the conduct of the governorship primary election that produced Akeredolu as Tinubu allegedly sponsored another candidate against him.

It was also rumoured that Tinubu was also planning to sponsor a candidate against Akeredolu in the next year’s governorship poll in the state.

However, Amodeni claimed that he was not surprised with the sack, saying that he would continue to choose Tinubu as leader and place him above Akeredolu.

“Tinubu is greater than any governor in the history of Ondo State including Akeredolu. He is greater than any politician I have ever known or met in the world. He’s a world political leader and I will forever cherish and adore him,” he added.

POLITICS: Read what Sanwo-Olu said about Apapa gridlock before the election
.

With two different quotes from two different events from the governor on his intention on Apapa road, it turns out that he spoke more about “prioritising” and “review” of the work done on the road in 60 days. The governor said there are major gridlocks that have been identified; “Some are short, to medium, to long term. The first 60 days is to solve some that are low hanging and there are about 20 to 22 of them. And within the first 100 days, I will tackle the gridlock in Apapa; I will need to clear off all the traffic and the trailers on Apapa, I will make sure that is a nightmare and we don’t see that again,” Sanwo-Olu said during the governorship debate on Channels TV.

Massive jubilation in Kaduna, Tribunal Admits Results From 110 Wards tendered by people's Democratic Party

The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has admitted results from 110 wards in 12 Local Government Areas as exhibits tendered by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Isa Ashiru.

The PDP and its candidate have also began the presentation of 685 witnesses assembled to defend it petition against the  out come of the March 9 Governorship election in Kaduna State.

INEC had declared Malam Nasir el-Rufai Of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election in Kaduna State which is being challenged by Ashiru and the PDP.

Ashiru’s counsel, Mr. Elisha Kurah (SAN), had on Monday tendered results from different polling units and 110 wards in 12 Local Government Area before the tribunal.

At the resumed hearing Kurah informed the court that the tendered documents were true certified copies of Form EC8 for different polling units and wards obtained from INEC in respect to the March 9 governorship election in the state.

He urged the tribunal to admit all the documents tendered in evidence as exhibits.

The petitioners who joined the APC and Gov El-Rufai in their petition, alleged that the poll was characterized by massive rigging, ballot box stuffing and violence in 110 wards in 12 local government areas of the state.

He told newsmen in an interview that, the forms use by INEC allegedly contained discrepancies that would be proved before the tribunal.

Kurah said: “the forms we tendered, were forms that INEC used during the election.

” Some of the forms were not signed by the agents, some were not stamped and, you find handwriting of one person on all the forms. I mean one person wrote everything in those forms we have presented.

“The Tribunal has accepted all the documents we presented and addmitted same  in evidence.

“There are lots of differences between those INEC  forms we presented to the Tribunal and that of the  PDP agents,”he said.

The Counsel said: ” the witnesses have been assembled to speak to the forms and the lack of genuiness of the forms we collected from INEC.”

INEC’s counsel, Dr. Musa Aliyu, raise objections in some documents and adopted some.

Counsel to APC, Mr. Ibrahim Bawa (SAN) and counsel to el-Rufai, Mr. Omokayode Dada both raised and reserved their objections to be addressed at later staged of the trial.

Ibrahim Bawa (SAN) Counsel to the APC said the APC would also bring its witnesses to the Tribunal to prove that the petitioners had no case.

PDP and it’s candidate are challenging the results of 10 wards in Birnin Gwari local government, 11 wards in Giwa local government, Rigasa ward in Igabi local government, 11 wards in Ikara local government, 8 wards in Kaduna North local government, 9 wards in Kaduna South local government, 10 wards in Kubau local government, 10 wards in Lere local government, 10 wards in Kudan local government, 11 wards in Soba local government, 9 wards in Sabon Gari local government, and 10 wards in Zaria local government.

Meanwhile, the Ibrahim Bako-led Tribunal adjourned to Tuesday, June 18 to continue, after taking three witnesses from Zaria local government.
