Just In: Bandits kill Zamfara lawmaker, kidnap son, driver

Published by Ojaomonews

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed the Zamfara State House of Assembly member, Muhammad Ahmad, kidnapping his son and driver.

It was gathered the incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Sheme in Kastina while Mr Ahmad was on his way to Kano after attending a rally to welcome Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State and members of the State House of Assembly to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)..

The lawmaker representing Shinkafi Constituency.

The Director-General, Press and Public Affairs, of the assembly, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura, disclosed on Wednesday in Gusau that the gunmen also kidnapped the lawmaker’s son and driver.

“He (lawmaker) was taking his son to a hospital in Kano.

“The lawmaker’s son and driver were kidnapped by the bandits,’’ Mr Jafaru-Kaura explained.

He noted that the late lawmaker will be buried on Wednesday morning in line with Islamic tradition.

Until his death, Ahmad was the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Budget.

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle is raising alarm over the level of criminality in the state.

Banditry and kidnappings have become commonplace in Zamfara State. In June, scores were killed by the marauders despite efforts by security agencies and repeated assurances from the government.

High-profile personalities have also been accused of fueling criminality in the state.  The Emir of Dansadau, Hussaini Umar, and the District Head of Nasarawa Mailayi, Bello Wakkala were suspended for allegedly aiding banditry.

Governor Bello Matawalle who critics claim is overwhelmed by the incessant assaults on the northwestern state, had in the wake of an attack on Kadawa village, Zurmi Local Government Area, admitted that banditry is getting worse by the day in Zamfara State.

“In recent weeks, the act of banditry has reverted to the ugly dimensions it had prior to the coming of my administration,” the governor said during a special broadcast on Democracy Day, assuring the people that his government will maintain its efforts to eradicate every form of criminality.

“The marauders kill without regard for any rules of sanity. Women, the elderly, and children are not spared. As a result, a large number of people have been displaced in nearly every town in the State.”

Exposed: Akeredolu negotiates Civil Servants Salaries for Supreme Court Judgement ~ Sanya Atofarati
Published by Ojaomonews
James Oja, Akure
June 28th, 2021

The PDP South-west Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, has alleged that  the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu is currently in talk with the authorities of the Supreme Court to negotiate the allocation of the state for his favour in the yet-to-be decided Governorship judgement in Ondo state.

Contained in a statement by his (Ondo state) Special Assistant, Comrade Omoniyi called on labour unions in the state to rise in defence of civil servants to prevent the menace purportedly concocted by the state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, to negotiating their salaries with the forthcoming supreme court judgement which he believes would be in favour of his party, PDP.

In his words, Omoniyi said; "It has come to our notice that the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Odunayo has been negotiating the forthcoming Supreme Court Judgement with the State allocations just for favouritism.

It is imperative to make this known to the general public and particularly the State Labour Union and its members that Governor Akeredolu has been on the move to negotiate their Salaries for his gains and interests by implementing this satanic means through the ongoing Half-Salary tactics in the state.

Recall that, during and after the appeal case judgement, there was a ploy to frustrate the appeal judgement. Even after the judgement, the appeal court reluctantly and refused to release the certified true copies of the judgement to our Party.

Despite that, It is so unfortunate that the Governor and the APC Party are trying every possible means to win at the forthcoming Supreme Court rulings through negotiations for personal and political interests and not minding the plight of the State Civil Servants and the present predicaments of the State.

We are calling on the masses and most especially the State Civil Servants to be aware and restrict this act of wickedness and oppression in the State."

A chieftain of People’s Democratic Party PDP in Ekiti State, Hon. Bunmi Adeyanju popularly known as "Ayanfe Gbonyin" has appealed to residents of the state to fully participate in the voters registration exercise as announced by INEC.

He made the plea in Agbado Ekiti his home town while addressing some youths.

Ayanfe Gbonyin urged those  who just attained the age of eighteen and those without voters cards to approach INEC offices in their local government areas for the procedures

The PDP leader noted that voter's cards would also serve as weapon to change the fortune of the country for better.

'Gag Gumi now, not Twitter' ~S'West PDP urges Buhari
Published by Ojaomonews
James Oja, Ibadan
June 24th, 2021

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has issued a strong warning to the Buhari-led APC administration to as a matter of urgency, call the self acclaimed Islamic cleric, Ahmed Gumi to order before he plunges the country into chaos.

The Party in a statement expressed deep resentment to the cleric's recent television interview where Gumi urged the government to allow bandits to guard the Nigerian forests as a condition for peace to reign.

The opposition party in a statement by it's Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati this morning, described Gumi's statement as' gratuitous insult' on the collective psyche of Nigerian people especially the farmers who have abandoned the farms due to the murderous activities of bandits and killer herdsmen

His words: "The call by Gumi to allow bandits to guard our forests for peace to reign was not only a ruse, but a gratuitous insult on the collective psyche of the Nigerian people".

The PDP scribe questions the reasoning behind asking a thief to be the Chief Security Officer of the house

"What Gumi is proposing was a scenario where a thief is asked to be the CSO of the house and from his submission, we now know that the Islamic cleric who has over time assumed the position of intermediary-in-chief to bandits and kidnappers without shame or remorse is now telling Nigerians his co travellers' new demands.

"Only two days ago, farmers association in Nigeria raised their voices against the threat to food security in the country as a result of bandits occupation of the forests even as they are now heavily indebted to the Central Bank for their inability to pay their loans, yet Gumi is suggesting that bandits should be invited to guard the forests to allow free reign for killer herdsmen, their twin brothers.

"In a saner clime, characters like Gumi whose stock in trade has been aiding and abetting criminalities in the country, agent provocateur and religious bigot should have been kept where they belong but Buhari's government has decided to look the other way focusing it's attention at banning Twitter"

Ekiti 2022: South West LG PDP Backs Olujimi, Support South Agenda

Published by Ojaomonews
James Oja, Ado-Ekiti
June 23rd, 2021.

In a unanimous decision, members of PDP in Ekiti Southwest Local Government have thrown their weights behind the Senator representing Ekiti South District, Mrs Biodun Olujimi in her agitation for the next Governorship candidate of the party be zoned to the South.

The group under the aegis of "South Agenda" believed to be sponsored by Olujimi, led by its coordinator, Dr. Kunle Folayan had in a familiarization tour of the local government, met with delegates and party officials and said it was only fair that the party zones its Governorship candidate to the South against the background that the zone had been deprived of the coveted seat for 24 years.

Recall that Olujimi had recently made a clarion call for the actualization of what she called lawful agitation of the people of the South, where she hails from.

She made the pronouncement in a Press statement through her aide, Ojo-Ade Fajana, where she denied any alliance to cede the Governorship ticket to a former Governor of the state, Segun Oni from the northern District.

Fajana said; "Our Principal, Senator Biodun Olujimi, had at different fora, expressed her commitment towards the actualization of the South Senatorial District producing the Governorship candidate in 2022 and until a further directive is given, the general public is hereby advised to remain resolute as we work together to ensuring a better Ekiti state."

The agitation recieved a boost today when the group was welcomed by party leaders and members who thronged out in their tens with chants of liberty and freedom in Ilawe-Ekiti, the local government headquarter.

In a communique signed by the PDP leaders across eleven wards of the council and released by Lawrence Oguntoye stated their readiness and commitment to Senator Olujimi's ideals.

'You don't have monopoly of knowledge' -S'West PDP tackles Buhari on restructuring

Published by Ojaomonews
James Oja, Ibadan
June 23rd, 2021

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has lent it's voice to the tirades of opposition to President Muhammadu Buhari's recent statement where he described Nigerians calling for restructuring of the country as ignorant.

The party in a reaction from the office of it's Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati yesterday, said the president erred in judgement of the real situation in the country by throwing away in one swell hoop the genuine agitation of the people he governs.

According to the statement; "It is quite unfortunate that a democratically elected president of Nigeria at this age and time lacks the finesse and continental language that would hold together a fragmented country under his watch especially the genuine agitation of his citizens for restructuring of the system which has turned Nigeria into a banana republic, a cattle colony and poverty capital in the whole world".

"The least that the good people of Nigeria are asking for is a return to constitutional democracy, equity, fairness and a genuinely people's Constitution but we have a sitting all-knowing president who claims to have a monopoly of knowledge of what is best for the country while millions other Nigerians including eminent citizens are ignorant and bunch of misguided agitators.

"Nigerians should be reminded that a PDP government in 2014, invoked a national dialogue which proffered solutions to many of the nagging national questions that are bedeviling the nation now but Buhari's government in 2015, decided to keep the monumental document in the dust bin to gather dust.

What other evidence do we need to conclude that this President does not want a united country even as his actions and inactions have exercerbated the tendencies for ethnic tensions by groups singing "To your tent, O Israel"

Osinbajo Urges Youths To Participate Actively In Politics

Published by Ojaomonews

James Oja, Ibadan

June 21st, 2021

The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has told Nigerian youths that change can not happen strictly by being active on social media.

The Vice President told the youths that to make sure the change they desire happens, the youths must actively participate in politics and push their agenda.

Osinbajo made the submission on Monday while speaking in Abuja during the maiden Progressive Youth Conference organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) youth wing.

The VP, in his speech titled, “The Future is a Decision,” said the youths must register and vote or be voted for to be able to make meaningful changes.

He said; “It is evident just from voter-turnout alone that the vast majority of young people either do not register to vote or do not vote.

“Those who even participate at all would rather engage within the very constrained space of social media platforms or join pressure groups.”

Osinbajo added that social media “do not transform the lives of millions for good or ill”, adding that: “If you are keen on how the future will turn out, you must be involved in politics.”

The VP submitted that it is important for the youths to be active in politics to be able to influence decisions and policies.

In other news, Senate President Ahmad Lawan has voiced out his concern on what may happen to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after 2023.

The Senate President noted that when President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office upon the completion of his tenure in 2023, APC will face the challenge of moving on without the ‘Buhari’ figure.

Lawan made this view known on Monday night in a speech delivered to close the First Progressives Youth Conference 2021 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

According to a statement by his Special Assistant (Press), Ezrel Tabiowo, Lawan warned the party to start preparing for the post-Buhari era and the challenges that may follow.

The opposition PDP has reacted to the Thursday Appeal Court ruling in Ondo governorship election which ratified Akeredolu's election in favour of the APC, saying the last has not been heard about the election.

The party in a press release by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, said the APC should not jubilate yet until the final Supreme Court gives the final judgement.

The party said, "It is no longer news that our party has proceeded to the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court indicating our rejection of the Appellate Court ruling of yesterday, but we want to clearly warn the APC that it is not yet Uhuru as the Supreme Court will soon restore the PDP's stolen mandate.

"We know the issue has gone beyond the massive electoral fraud committed by the APC during the last October governorship election in Ondo but the process of the uncostitional and illegal emergence of Akeredolu as the governorship candidate of the APC which the Supreme Court will take a critical look into"

Youth Group Stands by Dare Adeleke, says Fayose Must be Investigated for Allegedly Collecting N20m to Launch Tinubu’s Presidential Project in Ekiti

Published by Ojaomonews
James Oja, Ibadan
June 15th, 2021

A Group of youths under the aegis of Ibadan Youth Solidarity Movement, IYSM, have declared another group going by the name,

Oyo State PDP Vanguard as faceless, vague and cheap.
The IYSM said the group which issued a statement criticising Oyo PDP chieftain, Dare Adeleke’s revelation that ex-Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has joined the presidential campaign team, is being clever by half.

According to the group, Adeleke’s open letter to the PDP Chairman, NWC and EXCO was meant to investigate the allegations that Fayose had joined Tinubu’s SWAGA team and should be probed for anti-party activities.
In a statement issued in Ibadan and signed by Dr Kamorudeen Bamidele, the group said:

“Dare Adeleke has all rights in his capacity as a member of the PDP and one of it’s stalwarts in Oyo State to caution the party about the nefarious activities of Ayo Fayose.
Fayose’s clandestine romance with one of APC national leaders, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has many times been brought to the notice of the PDP national body.
The so called Oyo PDP Vanguard have proven that they are a group of riff Raff on the payroll of Ayo Fayose, mobilised at any given time to employ the most foul language in defending him when he has been boxed into a corner.

The language they deployed in their defense of Fayose and the Ekiti SWAGA launch shows that they are uncouth, brash hooligans. They are hungry scavengers, who pick the crumbs from the table of Ayo Fayose and his cohorts.
If one must look at their so called statement thoroughly, there is no where they denied the allegation that Ayo Fayose collected N20m from Tinubu to launch Ekiti SWAGA.

There is also no where they denied the accompanying picture of the Ekiti SWAGA team.
All they did was hide under the blanket of filthy language and the pretence of peace to unleash maggots out of their stinking mouths.

It must be noted that Dare Adeleke may be an ally of Governor Seyi Makinde but Adeleke does not speak for Makinde, neither is he his spokesperson. Dare Adeleke is a bonafide PDP leader, having served the party in various capacities since inception and is eminently qualified to caution the party when things are going wrong.

Fayose has proven again and again that he is a turncoat, a friend of the enemy, who would sell the party to his Lagos pay master for a pot of porridge.

The Ekiti state election, is coming next year and we expected Fayose to team up with Senator Abiodun Olujinmi, Prof Olusola Eleka, H.E Segun Oni, to mention few but he is more interested in Tinubu’s ambition for president. We re-echo Adeleke’s statement that Ayo Fayose is an unrepentant Tinubu apologist.

We, the Ibadan Youth Solidarity Movement, join our Hon. Dare Adeleke in insisting and asking the PDP National Working Committee to investigate Ayo Fayose and if found wanting, he must be disciplined before it is too late.”
Fayose cannot brag this one away.

Dr Kamorudeen Bamidele

Employ More Town Planners, Experts Tells Fayemi

Published by Ojaomonews

James Oja, Ado-Ekiti

June 15th, 2021

Ekiti State government has been advised to employ more professional town planners into its service.

This is the suggestion of a professional town planner in Ekiti State, Mr. Bunmi Adeyanju while speaking with newsmen on to arbitrary construction of buildings in Ekiti State.

He noted that many houses in the state were constructed without proper planning as against the building code and regulations.

Mr. Adeyanju explained that lack of professional town planners in government establishments was responsible for construction of buildings without approval.

The town planning expert who hails from Agbado Ekiti pointed out that, if more professionals were employed, it would assist in controlling various irregularities being witnessed.

Mr. Adeyanju alleged that Gbonyin local government had only one town Planner covering the area, noting that it would be difficult for him to perform excellently considering the geographical land mark of the council area.

Adeyanju who is the Assistant Secretary General of Profesional Town Planners in Ekiti said that proper planning would aid development and healthy living.

He lamented a situation where people would construct petrol stations, factories and poultries in residential areas, saying such poses serious danger to health of the citizens.

“It is unprofessional to construct houses , shops, hotels and other structures without taking people’s health into consideration”.

“While putting edifices in place, contractors must consider free ventilation and access to roads like what we have in those developed countries”.

Akeredolu vs Jegede: Pressure mounts on Appeal Court Justices over tomorrow’s judgment

Indication emerged that the Court of Appeal judgement earlier scheduled for Wednesday in the case brought before it by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2020 election, Eyitayo Jegede against the election of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu may, after all, be shifted.

The Appeal Court in the Akure Division two weeks ago had reserved the verdict for Wednesday, 16th of June, this year.
Vanguard gathered in Akure, the state capital, that this was as a result of reported pressure from some interested personalities on the three-man panel headed by Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua.

Counsels to Jegede, led by Onyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, had in their briefs gave reasons why Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, should be removed from office because they were wrongfully nominated during the primary election conducted by their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, Akeredolu’s counsel, the APC, and that of INEC, Akin Olujimi, Lateef Fagbemi and Charles Edosanmwon in response punctured all the arguments of Jegede’s counsel submitting that the case was a pre-election matter and should be dismissed forthwith.

Vanguard was informed by a top politician in the state that the “move to shift the date from tomorrow (Wednesday) was coming on the heels of an allegation that a Federal Minister, in conjunction with a serving governor from the North-Eastern part of the country have been mounting pressure on the panel to shift the date.

“A senior member of the Bench from the North West is said to be liaising between the trio led by the minister and another member of the Appeal panel.

However, the source said that “It was unclear if the chairman, Justice Orji-Abadua has been reached to effect the postponement.

The source hinted that “the move to ‘arrest’ the judgment came after series of alleged meetings between the national leadership of the umbrella body of Fulani cattle breeders, Miyetti Allah and the North East governor who is believed to be close to the PDP governorship in the last election, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN.

Also, a top member of Miyetti Allah has expressed concern over “the continued stay in office of Akeredolu was not in the interest of the Fulani ethnic nationality.

According to him “Of course, Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians and the way the Ondo State governor is going, he is against the Fulani people and safety is not guaranteed under him at all.

“How can such a man that benefited from the Fulani to become governor set up what he calls Amotekun to be tormenting us?

“Did we make a mistake to support him against our own man who had spent all his life in Fulani territory in Adamawa, someone who can speak our own Fulfude language in the 2020 election?

“If we made a mistake, we are now going to correct that mistake by partnering with someone we understand and who knows us better to be there. Or is it not when Akeredolu is governor that he can threaten the unity of this country by asking some people to leave a place in Nigeria?

The source said that Jegede and the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar enjoy good relationship and that Atiku is equally the benefactor of the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The source recalled that Governor Akeredolu as the chairman of the South West Governors Forum played a major role in checkmating the nefarious activities of criminal herdsmen by spearheading the establishment of the South West Security Network, codenamed Amotekun.

Akeredolu and other southern governors have equally placed a ban on open grazing system in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

The source noted that the position of Akeredolu on activities of herdsmen and open grazing of livestock in the country have pitched him with the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami recently.

Contacted on the allegation of mounting pressure on the Appeal Court panel, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state Kennedy Peretei said “lt is not true, nothing like that from our camp here.

“lt is the APC and Akeredolu camp that are trying to mount pressure on the Panel through the CJN. But we believe in the judges, they are capable and will do justice accordingly. We don’t need to put pressure on the judges to postpone the judgement.

The information and Orientation commissioner Hon Donald Ojogo in his reaction said “We don’t want to subscribe to the fact that any minister who is a member of the APC would want to cut corners to undermine and possibly unseat Akeredolu because of the views he holds strongly on national issues.

“There is nothing personal in whatever the governor has said. So to remove an APC governor and enthrone PDP and achieve what? I doubt it can ever happen, the Nigerian Judiciary is not that low and it cannot start with this.

“As regards whether or not the date would be shifted is at the discretion of the Honourable Panel which comprises eminent and distinguished jurists. We are not inclined to discussing that.”

The state chairman of Miyetti Allah, Alhaji Garuba Bello, said “that is a big lie. Miyetti Allah does not have the capability to say we don’t want a particular governor.”

Bello added that “No one can make that kind of decision in Miyetti Allah, even from the national level to state level.

Meanwhile, there is palpable tension in both camps as chieftains of both parties held several meetings ahead of the verdict.

Recall that the Election Tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by Jegede against Akeredolu for want of Jurisdiction and lack of merit.

In the two hours judgement, via zoom, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Abubakar Umar, however, struck out Jegede’s petition for Lack of Jurisdiction.

Justice Umar Abubakar said that the “Issue raised therein in this petition are settled issue of internal affairs and management of a political party which this Tribunal has no Jurisdiction.”

The tribunal ruled that Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa were duly nominated and sponsored by the APC in line with section 177 of the constitution and section 31 of the Electoral Act.

“The Tribunal cannot determine whether Mai Bala Buni, the governor of Yobe State is illegally occupying the seat of caretaker chairman of the planning committee of the extraordinary convention of the APC,” the court ruled.

Abubakar said the Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa demonstrated without the benefit of the doubt that they were duly sponsored by a political party.

The tribunal Chairman said the evidence of submission of the names of Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa by Buni led Caretaker Committee at the instance of the party’s NEC was not disputed by the petitioners.

He further pointed out that Buni’s membership of the APC was also not disputed by the petitioners.

“There is also evidence to confirm that the APC as the sponsor complied with the law in the process for the submission of the names of its Candidates, Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa”.

“Jegede’s case is flawed and hereby dismissed. The chairman declared.
Justice Abubakar noted that no extra cost will be put on any parties in the petition as parties would be made to bear their costs.

"APC had mismanaged itself both at the state and national levels" ~~Jide Awe

Published by Ojaomonews

James Oja, Ado-Ekiti

June 15th, 2021

Former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Jide Awe, has said that the ghost of the governorship primaries conducted in 2018 was still haunting the party in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Chief Awe alleged that APC had mismanaged itself both at the state and national levels and the primaries for the 2022 governorship election must be conducted in a transparent and acceptable manner if the party wanted to retain the governorship in the state.

He bemoaned the situation where the ruling party was being run by the caretaker Committee both at the state and at the centre.

The APC stalwart therefore urged the party at the state and national levels to conduct congresses to save it from the present ‘directionless’ state, saying, “The APC as it is, is in a ‘partyless’ situation. A party that has no executives is directionless”.

According to him, “The present situation is not expected of us. We are not measuring up to standard and party members are complaining.

“When members are complaining and those at the helm of affairs are behaving as if they are angels and operating within an iron cast habitat, when they are not relating well with members, that is causing a lot of problems within our party. That may be some of the problems we are going to encounter soon as we go into the election year”.

Awe, who harped on the need for Ekiti APC to opt for acceptable primaries and jettison the idea of ‘winner takes all’, said, “Up till now, the ghost of the primary which was conducted in 2018 governorship is what we are still battling with.

“Despite APC being in government in the state, many of our people don’t see themselves as being part of the party, much more being part of the government. That was what led to the hues and cries after the executive.

“I think some of what we are seeing has resonated in the nation which led to the total dissolution of the National Executive Committee of the party.

In our party constitution, there is no room for a caretaker, so there is an urgent need for congresses”.

The APC chieftain, who expressed fears on the willingness of the APC to conduct congresses, said, “Yes I am entertaining fears because that was what brought us to the present calamity within the party.

The congresses we conducted in 2018 brought us to this ‘partyless’ level we are.

“It is important for us now to have properly conducted congresses from ward to national level.

My own fear is that we still have the same people in charge to have a change of mind.

We want to avoid running into that pit again, that is why we are talking to those who care to listen.”

According to a recent press release by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the office of its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, the "Buhari's interview in a national television calling for the reintroduction of long abandoned but obsolete grazing routes for cattle in Nigeria of 2021 only portrayed the President as a desperate, undisguised Fulani apologist wanting to lord his rejected cattle colony on the nation"

According to the PDP spokesperson, the banning of open grazing by southern governors has come as a big blow to Buhari and his  Attorney General, Shehu Malami who suddenly became the official mouth piece of Miyetti Allah and since then the issue has remained a sore point to the Buhari-led government.

His words; "It is glaring that the decision of southern governors banning open grazing had clearly unsettled the cabal in Aso Rock led by Shehu Malami who made no pretence at condemning the governors' position on open grazing

"But the President's directive to the same Malami to dust the obsolete law of tracing the old grazing reserves across the country for cattle to move freely was a pointer to declaration of war on the entire country even as the affected governors of the south have reiterated that no inch of their land would be ceded for cattle grazing.

"If an APC Governor in Kano State has embraced the modern method of animal husbandry by going full scale ranching while his masters in the Villa are rooting for a non existing law of tracing cattle routes when the country's population was less than 60 millions, it shows there's a disconnect and a missing gap

"The spontaneous reaction of governors from the south maintaining their stand on banning open grazing as they have done with Buhari's RUGA policy was a legitimate clamour for independent federating units which confered the ownership of land to the state givernors through the land use decree and anything outside this is abuse of the system and unknown under the Constitution"

Makinde’s Aide To Ajimobi Group: Your Hero Led Substandard Governance In Oyo

...says Makinde's govt reduced Oyo's debt by over N7.4B in two years
OYO: Stop Creating Impediments For Makinde’s Government, Group Warns Ajimobi

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, on Sunday, stated that the debt profile of the state has been reduced by as much as N7.4 Billion in the last two years of the Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.

The Media aide, who was responding to a statement by the Ajimobi Legacy Forum(ALF) on Sunday, said that the late governor led substandard governance in the state.

The CPS also maintained that his submission was informed by data and statistics from the Debt Management Office, a Federal Government agency, describing a statement credited to the ALF, which accused Makinde of poor governance as not well-thought-out and premised on fraudulent statistics.

A statement by Adisa declared that due to the prudent management of the state’s resources by the governor, the state’s domestic debt was reduced from N99.3 Billion, which it inherited from the the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s government in 2019 to N91.9 Billion as shown by statistics made available by the DMO in March 2021.

Adisa maintained that contrary to claims by ALF and the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the Makinde government has been embarking on excessive borrowing, the administration has borrowed about N24 Billion for infrastructure financing, while only N18 Billion of the amount has been accessed so far.

He added that the administration has been concentrating the state’s resources on legacy projects and reduction of the state’s infrastructure deficit with a view to expanding the economy of the state, wondering why ALF would describe the Moniya-Iseyin Road, Adamasingba Stadium renovation and remodelling and other key infrastructure projects as wasteful.

The statement noted that it is pitiable that the ALF went out with fraudulent and misleading statistics to deceive the public, saying the childish interpretation of DMO statistics made mockery of the group’s late principal, who is the real architect of Oyo’s gargantuan debt and profligate governance.

According to the governor’s media aide, the desperation of the attention-seeking and less-known ALF to share the limelight with the performing and people-oriented government of Governor Makinde, which celebrated two years in office with legacy projects and people-centred achievements that the Ajimobi government could not boast of in eight years, is pitiable and condemnable at the same time.

“The said ALF would do better with the memory of their hero by helping Oyo people forget the eight year lackluster governance he led in Oyo State,” the statement read.

He added that the attempt to redeem the image of the late Ajimobi, who almost run the state aground, leaving behind a domestic debt of N99.9 Billion and foreign debt of 200 Million US Dollars, with practically nothing tangible to show, must have pushed the ALF to spew unsubstantiated statistics and outright falsehood to justify its jaundiced criticism of Makinde’s government.

The statement said: “The statement credited to one group known as the Ajimobi Legacy Foundation accusing Governor Makinde of running poor governance in Oyo and incurring the debt of N91 Billion in two years is sad, misguided and jejune.

“The ALF or specifically Kunle Sanda must be suffering from what we will like to call Attention-Seeking Syndrome (ATSS) by going out with fraudulent interpretations of the statistics from the Debt Management Office or shall we say the group was pushed to publish the falsehood to redeem the image of its late profligate and wasteful principal, who they should have allowed to rest in peace?

“From statistics made available by the Debt Management Office, a federal agency, the domestic debt of Oyo State as of June 2019 stood at N99,358,565,798.52 while the state’s foreign debt was 200 Million US Dollars.

“The same Debt Management Office released another statistics in March 2021 stating that as of March 31, the state’s domestic debt was N91,954,231,316.98, which signified a reduction of N7,404,334,481.54.

“While the statement portrayed ALF as childish and ignorant and its handlers and sympathisers as apparently lacking any intelligence of debt management, we shall take the pain to school them.

“The group said the state’s debt under Ajimobi is less than N100 Billion and that the state’s debt under Makinde in two years now stands at N91 Billion, when it was Ajimobi that incurred the same debt and left the huge mountain of indebtedness which Makinde is now dealing with.

“For the ALF’s information, Ajimobi’s inherited less than N7 Billion debt and catapulted it to N99 Billion in eight profligate years.

“But in two years, what Makinde has done is to reduce the state’s domestic debt by N7.4 Billion. This, of course, puts a lie to the efforts by the APC to portray Governor Makinde as engaging in excessive borrowing.

“To date, the Makinde administration has only borrowed about N24 Billion and of this amount, only about N18 Billion has been accessed.

“Though we are aware that the ALF, like its parent party, APC, is fraudulent and opportunistic, we would like to advise them to engage the services of competent statisticians before they come out to advertise their ignorance next time.”

PDP laments June 12 Democracy Day, says 'its a perfidy of history'

Published by Ojaomonews
James Oja, Ibadan
June 11th, 2021.

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has flayed the attempt by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to sensationalize the unfortunate event of the criminal annulment of the June 12 1993 presidential election to pull wool over the eyes of Nigerian youths.

The party lamented a situation where the growing number of youth population in the country are largely uninformed about the significance and the dramatic personae of the June 12 impasse.

The opposition party's position was contained in a press statement signed by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati.

According to the party's spokesman;

"It is unfortunate that the growning number of emerging youth population, especially those born after 1993 were ignorant of the role played by those who are now celebrating June 12 as Democracy Day after they have successfully abolished the study of history from school curriculum"

"It is pathetic that characters like Bola Ahmed Tinubu who sponsored a coordinated protest by UNILAG students against the decision of former President Goodluck Jonathan to name the university after MKO is now one of the people making a heavy capital of June 12.

"Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State for 8 years, he is the same one man who has been installing successive governors on the state since 2007 when he left office yet, no remarkable monument had been put in place in honour of MKO, apart from the late hero's statute. This is shameful.

"Therefore, the declaration of June 12 as Nigeria's new Democracy Day by General Mohamadu Buhari on June 6 2018 was not only a ruse but a big scam because of his inglorious antecedent as a coupist.

"How can the same Buhari who toppled the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari in a military coup on 31st of December 1983 be champion of democracy in Nigeria"?
