The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has issued a strong warning to the Buhari-led APC administration to as a matter of urgency, call the self acclaimed Islamic cleric, Ahmed Gumi to order before he plunges the country into chaos.
The Party in a statement expressed deep resentment to the cleric's recent television interview where Gumi urged the government to allow bandits to guard the Nigerian forests as a condition for peace to reign.
The opposition party in a statement by it's Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati this morning, described Gumi's statement as' gratuitous insult' on the collective psyche of Nigerian people especially the farmers who have abandoned the farms due to the murderous activities of bandits and killer herdsmen
His words: "The call by Gumi to allow bandits to guard our forests for peace to reign was not only a ruse, but a gratuitous insult on the collective psyche of the Nigerian people".
The PDP scribe questions the reasoning behind asking a thief to be the Chief Security Officer of the house
"What Gumi is proposing was a scenario where a thief is asked to be the CSO of the house and from his submission, we now know that the Islamic cleric who has over time assumed the position of intermediary-in-chief to bandits and kidnappers without shame or remorse is now telling Nigerians his co travellers' new demands.
"Only two days ago, farmers association in Nigeria raised their voices against the threat to food security in the country as a result of bandits occupation of the forests even as they are now heavily indebted to the Central Bank for their inability to pay their loans, yet Gumi is suggesting that bandits should be invited to guard the forests to allow free reign for killer herdsmen, their twin brothers.
"In a saner clime, characters like Gumi whose stock in trade has been aiding and abetting criminalities in the country, agent provocateur and religious bigot should have been kept where they belong but Buhari's government has decided to look the other way focusing it's attention at banning Twitter"
