The meeting started with a prayer to commemorate the Late Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, whom Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja described as his political father from time immemorial and a man whose impact on his life is indelible.
Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja in a press release signed by his Media and publicity assistant Bamitale Ibrahim made available to news men appreciated all dignitaries present and thanked them for the great support he has received from Oyo state, his home base. He singled out the performing Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his good works and unprecedented leadership in the state and the party.
While addressing the PDP leaders, he said it is very important to carry along party members in his home state, because Charity they say Begins at home. As it could be seen across all the 5 States he has been to so far, that the party is already polarised and divisive factions are not right for a party that's wants to win Election in respective states and the central government.
Arapaja said the main reason that he keeps on pushing his Unification Agenda is because the party in the state is an eyesore to all and with his capacity, ability and experience, he could do it better.
He further stated that while some are claiming they have been repositioning the party for the last 4 years with little or nothing to show for it. A party that use to have 5 States now has just a State, this amount to an abysmal performance and a mockery of their repositioning after 4 years in power, he added.
He said that PDP must be presented and projected as the only credible and reasonable alternative the nation has and we must put all hands on deck to achieve continuous victory especially in the South West Geo Political Zone.
He further said, we need to revisit and bring back our winning team and strategies when PDP usually wins at least east 5 States out of 6 then build and gather enthusiasm for the federal elections
He said it is time we stopped some acclaimed Leaders from extorting Aspirants and candidates from their hotel rooms while they do or achieve nothing to the best benefit of the party but their pockets.
Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja affirmed and spoke highly of Governor Seyi Makinde's leadership of the party in the zone and implored all party members to work hand in hand with him as he repositions the South West Zone of the party.
