..."JayTee Ojo Foundation has cleared the path for other well-meaning people to follow", says Amotekun Governing Board Chairman, Chief Akin Aregbesola.

The JayTee Ojo Foundation has taken a bold step to ensure that the Southwest Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, in Ekiti State, functions effectively in providing the much needed surveillance and support for security operatives in the hinterlands of Ekiti State, it's adjoining borders and countryside.

The foundation recently presented a brand new motorcycle to the leadership of the Ekiti Amotekun Corps led by Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Akin Aregbesola, at a brief ceremony held at the Amotekun Corps headquarters located on the Fountain Hotel grounds in Ado Ekiti.

Recieving the motorcycle alongside other members of the Governing Council, Chairman, Chief Aregbesola commended the organization for the hands of fellowship extended to the security outfit, noting that the JayTee Ojo Foundation was the first non-governmental organization to support Amotekun since it's inauguration in the state.

"The support extended to us by the foundation is very commendable and timely. It is the first time anybody will remder any assistance to us in the state", he said. "I must say this is a huge scorecard for the foundation as it has cleared the path for other persons of means to follow. We actually need resources and logistics to curb the pockets of crime which is usually perpetrated in the dense forests and bushes. The motorcycle is very timely".

President of the Board of the JayTee Ojo Foundation, Mr JayTee Ojo and the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Prince Feso Oyebade, represented by Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr Kester Olaifa, explained to the Amotekun Governing Board that the gesture became imperative in light of the recent rise of insecurity in the country and its trickle down effect in Ekiti state.

"It's common knowledge that farming and agriculture are important economic activities in Ekiti State, people no longer feel safe to go to their farms due to farmers-herders clashes and abductions. The foundation believes it is important to support Amotekun which is a home grown solution as the various groups recruited into the corps have a better knowledge of the terrain than the traditional security architecture. They will in turn assist the Police, Civil Defence and the Army", he said.

Just last week, Corps Commander of the Amotekun in Ekiti State, Brigadier General Joe Komolafe, (retd), had solicited for support for the corps during a live program on a popular radio station in Ekiti State. He lamented that the corps had not received any assistance from either individuals or non governmental organizations in the state since its inauguration. While explaining that security was everyone's business and that government could not do it alone, he asked for financial and material assistance for the corp to achieve it's core mandate.
