FIRE RAZES FIRST PRIVATE RADIO STATION IN ADO-EKITI, AS NUJ CALLS FOR FINANCIAL AID TO CUSHION EFFECT
The studio of the first private radio station in Ado-Ekiti, Voice 89.9 FM was at the early hours of Thursday Morning gutted by fire. The fire suspected to have started from one of the air conditioners gutted the padded walls of the live studio and other facilities.Meanwhile, the leaderships of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Ekiti State Council has sympathized with staff and management of Voice FM Ado Ekiti over the incident of fire that destroyed some of its facilities.In a statement in Ado Ekiti, NUJ chairman, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela thanked God that no life was lost in the disaster.
Ojomoyela who visited the station through his secretary Com Kayode Babatuyi expressed concern over the level of damages and called on friends of the media industry as well as government to support the station to enable it return to it’s normal operation.He added that Voice FM remains one of the stations with high quality production and rich content, hence it must be salvaged at this trying time to enable it continue to serve the people better.
