The Peopless' Democratic Party, Ekiti State Chapter has thrown its weight behind the organized labour in the state in their unanimous rejection of Governor Kayode Fayemi's planned withdrawal of minimum wage describing the move as 'callous, wicked and unconscionable'
The opposition party made the declaration through a statement from the office of Zonal Publicity Secretary of the PDP Chief Sanya Atofarati on Tuesday.
The workers had on Monday met with the Governor where they expressly stated their rejection of Fayemi's the controversial anti-workers policy.
The PDP in a reaction, warned the APC-led administration not to embark on such evil plan noting that any guise to further impoverish the living standard of workers and all vulnerable groups in Ekiti State is unacceptable.
"It's the height of insensitivity and inhuman on the part of Ekiti State Governor to further pauperized the helpless workers on his payroll by his refusal to pay the minimum wage
"Governor Fayemi should be guided by the fear of God and good conscience to know that this is wrong time to trample on the welfare of the workers in the state when prices of food stuffs and commodities are on the rise and far beyond the reach of average Nigerians.
"We urge the Ekiti work force and all well meaning Ekiti indigenes to keep faith in God and 'shine' their eyes against oppressive leaders come 2022"
