Nigerian Politians And Their quest For Power: A Case Study Of Prince Dayo Adeyeye

By Chief Sanya Atofarati

I sincerely empathize with Prince Dayo Adeyeye particularly on the recent and past challenges that has befallen his political career through misadventures of ideas and associates. It is indeed a trying time for him politically.

So when I read a purported suspension letter of Gov Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state by a factional executive of his party APC, on allegation heavily relying on anti party activities and plots to undermine the party. First, as a principal member of the major oppososing party, I was satisfied and happy, knowing fully well that I would be reaping heavily from their defeat and would never pray for resolvable crisis among them.

Even though some of the allegations, without biase, are lame and would fall-flat before facts. However, a particular part of the "Suspension" letter linked with Senator Biodun Olujimi wherein they alleged their party leader, Kayode Fayemi conspired with Biodun Olujimi to retrieve her stolen Senate Mandate from Prince Dayo Adeyeye, was not only misleading but also a misrepresentation of fact.

An holistic evaluation and assessment of the allegations contained in the "Suspension" letter and political pedigree of its signatories had left many Nigerians worried of how Nigeria politicians cook inflamatory comments just to curry undue sympathy, even at the detriment of the other and the imagery of the state.

Personally, I can understand the many travails cum fraustration of Prince Dayo Adeyeye of APC and a former member of my party PDP. But truth be told, your political misadventure began the day you muted the idea to demolish your House because of an infringing mouse. Despite efforts to open your eyes to the foresaw and the iminient RAIN waiting to befall your career, rather, the come-home-for-roast tunes of the APC sounded so rythmic to your political hears and you gollibly bought into their anticts and danced, danced and danced until you tore apart the UMBERELLA that would have provided you shield during this political rain and heavy storms , hell No!

Sir, you were never trusted, you have never been trusted and you can never be trusted by the APC. Presently now, you already have TRUST ISSUES and even if you decide to return/rejoin PDP today, you can not be trusted not only by members of your party but majorly by your immediate constituents of the South Senatorial District whose trust you have betrayed and geopadized their chances of fielding a Governorship Candidate at two consecutive terms for your self-satisfied Enterprise.

I have no reason to hold brief for Gov Fayemi on any of the allegations leveled against him by his already sinking APC. Notwithstanding, Senator Dayo Adeyeye lacks moral justification to be part of such aimless allegation of conspiracy and anti party activity.

For avoidance of doubts, I attended all the judicial proceedings of the NASS post election matter, particularly the Olujimi vs Adeyeye, from the its first sitting at Tribunal in Ado-Ekiti and I was also there till the last Judgement was delivered at the Appellate Count in Kaduna. Sufficiently I can say that Prince Dayo Adeyeye, even as a lawyer, had no knowledge of the case. When Olujimi had hired a SAN (Egbewole) and bench of other versatile lawyers to argue her case, Adeyeye was busy lobbying around for a backdoor judgement and paid less attention to the sensitivity of the case at hand. Adeyeye only attended the submission of address sitting at the Appeal Court at Fajuyi, Ado-Ekiti and that was the day he made this statement bellow

Meanwhile, as a lawyer, if Adeyeye had taken seriously the matter, taken cognisance of each details like Olujimi did maybe he would have won but instead, the man slips into comfort zone, undermined the Judicial system, relied on external help which eventually failed because they couldn't help his already misfiled defense before the Tribunal panel.

Senator (Chief Mrs) Biodun Olujimi's Victory at the Tribunal was hinged on the application for ballots recount filed by Egbewole SAN and niether Chief Bello Balogun Esq of Dayo Adeyeye nor INEC and any necessary parties in the suit objected to the application, rather they uninanimously agreed to abide by whatever the outcome of the ballot recount and the honourable court granted the quest.

Upon the recount of the ballot papers by INEC in the presence of the parties Counsel and Representatives, they discovered a whopping some of 20,000 non existing votes that had been mischievously and unlawfully added to Dayo Adeyeye's votes. Perhaps inexperience on the Balogun's or the expertise of Egbewole SAN, Adeyeye's lead Counsel admitted before the court that it was a "wrong computation" which the Judge queried why the wrong computations were not made in favour of the plaintiff.

After the deduction of the fictitious 20,000 vote, Olujimi was declared winner of the election having polled over 2,000 of the highest lawful votes, she was consequently declared winner and returned.

Uncle Dayo Adeyeye Sir, your political injuries are self-inflicted. Stop blaming the same Fayemi that gave you the privilege to fly his party ticket, don't blame the same Olujimi who stepped down her own governorship ambition (Being a brother from the South Senatorial District) to push you up with over 550 delegates in the PDP primary and still backed you up with about 100 million naira cash just to see you succeed.

It is too late to cry....!
