Ekiti APC: No Alert No Ambition.
Tosin-Ajisafe Aluko Group Protests Against Imposition
Tosin -Ajisafe Aluko Campaign Organization,
Idemo St, Ado Ekiti.
PRESS RELEASE:
Our attention has been drawn to the information going round that Ado Ekiti local government APC has picked a consensus candidate. The information is too frightening and devastating, because there was never at any time the Five contestants came together for such arrangement.
The pronouncement of Mr Governor was the last instruction we were working on. The press release of Mr Governor was very clear on this matter. He said he had no anointed chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming LG elections.
There are five contestants for the election, I Ch Mrs Tosin -Ajisafe Aluko, Alh Tajudeen Gidado, Hon Bolu Aladesanmi , Hon Jide Akintola and Mrs Omotunde Fajuyi.
The primary election was slated for Saturday 28 th September, 2019 at Eagle hall, along Ikere road, Ado Ekiti. We were all present, except Motunde Fajuyi who didn't show up for the primary.
We arrived at the venue by 10:30am and the party sent message to us at about 3:30pm that they have postponed the primary election.
On Monday 30th September, 2019, I was invited for a meeting at instance of the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi with some leaders who are championing the course of Omotunde Fajuyi. They appealed to me, that I should step down for Omotunde Fajuyi. I told them that I won't step down, that the meeting was late, that I have prepared for the primary, in which I started it's preparation since February, 2019. I told them, that they should adhere strictly to the pronouncement of Mr Governor. When we could not resolve, they meeting was brought to an end by 1:30pm
I and Alh Gidado, rejected their pleas ,and we opted for primary election. It was after we left the meeting, that the deputy governor convened the meeting of the so called *Stakeholders* which was alien to the Constitution of the party , and the wards chairmen to come and sign that they have picked Omotunde Fajuyi as a consensus candidate.
This singular act negates Article 20: subsection ||| ,of the Constitution of the party, it reads interlia; *Nomination of candidates for;*
a. local government council/Area council chairman
b. State House of Assemblyc. House of Representatives
d. Senate
e. Governor
f. President
*Shall be through direct or indirect primary election to be conducted at the appropriate level.*
Having been awared of this Article, primary election is the answer to resolve this lingering crises.I was baffled today when I read on social media, that Ado Ekiti APC has picked a consensus candidate without the consents of others.
I want to use this medium to appeal to the leadership of the party at the state and national levels rescue our party from those who are bent to destroy it.
We must allow *Internal Democracy* to blossom in our party.
I am still very much in the race and fully prepared for free, fair and credible election.
