EKSIEC To Conduct Council Poll This Year
Local government elections is to be conducted in Ekiti State before the end of this year (2019).
The Chairman, Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC), Retired Justice Jide Aladejana announced this in Ado-Ekiti when he led other members on the visit to the management of the independent National Electoral Commission.
Retired Justice Aladejana who expressed readiness of the EKSIEC to conduct credible council polls sought the assistance of lNEC in the area of manpower development, voters registered and permanent voters cards among others.
Responding, INEC Administrative Secretary in Ekiti State, Dr. Muslim Omoleke said the commission was ready to offer support for SIEC in line with the memorandum of understanding that existed between the two commissions.
Dr. Omoleke, who noted that INEC was custodian of voters registered and PVCs, promised to make such available when the time comes but advised SlEC to formalise such request.
