APC elders declare support for Jubril, says party earned bad name under Bello
.
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi West Senatorial District have declared their support for Usman Jubril, a former Chief of Naval Staff, for the governorship primary election in the state.
The Nation reports that the elders’ position on Mr Jubril followed a report of the screening committee that was set up by elders and leaders of the APC in the area.
It was learnt that Jubril was described by the leaders of the party as the hope of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
The committee of APC elders led by Sule Iyaji had nineteen members, who spoke one after the other.
The elders noted that the APC enjoys the love of the people of Kogi because of the leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari.
They, however, lamented the performance of the Governor Yahaya Bello, who is seeking to win the APC ticket for re-election.
According to them, the party is earning a bad name from the governor.
“Therefore, for APC to still continue to remain our darling party in the state, the people of Kogi State will appreciate a change during the primaries of the APC.
“And, that is why we have all agreed after strenuous search for a new leader, to decide that we will give our support to Admiral Jubril, come rain come sun.
“And, we urge the national leadership of the APC to do the needful by ensuring they give the ticket to Admiral Jubril, so that the main election will be a walkover for the APC in the state,” the APC elders said.
